Music (& stuff) people like that you tried to get into, but can’t
Chocolate Eyes replied to Lirazel's topic in Music
Ariana Grande. I keep coming back to her because I really like her voice. Every album I find songs that I really like and go back to listen to. At the same time she also has some songs I think are awful. Halsey. I liked a few songs from her first album when it came out but I don't like anything else of hers. But now I don't even like her first album either and I'm glad I never brought it. When I'm listening to BTS, I put on the version of "Boy With Luv" that doesn't have her on it. -
Cruel Youth's songs don't really catch my attention as much as Natalia's "Perfectionist" and "Trouble" albums did. I stanned Natalia Kills, so I wish I loved Cruel Youth as much. Her voice is nice, music is good, but I easily forget the songs after listening. I like "Devil In Paradise", but could go without the rapping/talking she's doing at the end.

Out of all the times she chose to be active on social media, when she's otherwise quiet for weeks, now was not the time for her. She's a little more socially awkward than I thought. She shouldn't post about such a protest with so little information otherwise to most people it looks as if you're only showing off. Especially considering her scandal. She should've never named anyone, and saved the new album announcement for another time. Aside from that I liked that she talked about this hypocrisy on femininity and sex appeal because I relate to it. I have experienced people who tried to make me feel stupid, telling me I'm not good enough because I'm not a career woman who graduated from a fancy uni, and because I'd be content spending the rest of my life as a homemaker. Many feminists say they are for women's choice and sex positivity, but I've noticed that's only if you're challenging "the norm". It's not a racial or white girl thing as I'm a WOC, and WOC who are very feminine (or also soft/gentle/submissive as Lana mentioned) also get shamed by feminists. Had she worded the note better, it wouldn't have sparked so much outrage, and people wouldn't be as bothered over her recent posts.
-
At this point it's only trending because K-pop stans are spamming/trolling it. I scrolled for a while and only saw one serious post.
-
Some people are saying she's racist because the picture, with the white hand and black hand holding each other, got cut off. I didn't even notice until they pointed it out. To be searching for outrage in a cartoon hand... what even.
-
I think she's just aging. It doesn't look as if she's had any more work done. I could be wrong.
-
I get the feeling people are going to find a way to call her racist for this. By the way Cardi is a celebrity who is truly problematic, and unapologetic about it. Any time I hear news about her it's mostly because she was mean and tried starting fights with people.
-
I'm completely convinced this outrage over her is nothing but the "social justice" internet crew trying to find anything they can turn into a race issue. I doubt they would've made such a big deal if she was black. I mean, Azalea Banks can say all the homophobic and racist things she wants and she'll still be a "QUEEN". Her rant from 2 weeks ago was simply about western feminism's hypocrisy over sexuality. Her post was a mess, went on forever even though it could have been summed up better in a paragraph. But it wasn't about race. I bet if Lady Gaga was black they would still be pissed over "So Legit" to this day. So many influencers and celebrities everywhere are posting uncensored footage of protests and riots. Why else would they single her out?

Same. I would put Hope somewhere around 9-13 and leave Happiness as the last song.

It's not easy finding the right partner. Especially these days when a lot of people either feel they can't afford or just straight out don't want to settle down. Listening to some of her 2009-2011 unreleased songs, she came off as a hopeless romantic and lowkey struck me as the type of girl who eventually wanted to find her happily-ever-after and start a little family. She wasn't always going to be the trailer park pin-up girl, the 60s inspired diva, and the sad girl/bad girl forever. Can't expect a 34 year old to be in the same place as their 26 year old self. I like seeing when she posts pictures hanging out with friends around LA. She was surrounded by bad influences and troubles during her 20s so I'm glad it seems she's clean and in healthier environment these days. My parents were the type of people you read about on forums like r/raisedbynarcissists. Yeah, they fed and clothed me and the basics. But they weren't at all the type of people you could trust or run to when you were feeling down unless you wanted to be ridiculed and feel worse in the end. The norm is for parents to be loving and caring. So most people don't understand what it's like to not get along with parents, or even more when some people dislike their own parents.

your personality in (max: 5) Lana unreleased songs

Betty Boop Boop Party Girl/Us Against The World (they feel like the same song IDK) Marilyn Monroe/Puppy Love Hangin Around 1949 -
Maybe. My husband and many of his friends were born and raised in mainland China, but have immigrated to the US a couple years ago. None of them ever heard of Lana before they heard me playing her music, or actually even heard much talk about her in their hometown (a big city in northeast China). Of course she's got many fans there, but maybe she's not as heard of in the media there as other mainstream American artists.

Just had to say that Chen (from EXO) new EP "Dear My Dear" has some breathtakingly beautiful songs! His voice in the chorus

Lana's part was magical and the best. Miley doesn't sound or look like she fits in. Her voice doesn't match a song like this. I don't know if the drugs and partying from the Bangerz era might have started aging her prematurely, or her bad hair and makeup, but her style in the video gives the vibe of a middle aged woman who threw on a random skimpy outfit in an attempt to show off that "she's still got it". I would have liked this song a lot more if Miley wasn't in it.

Yes! Ever since I first became a fan, I wondered what it would be like if Lana did some rockabilly. Since she's into Elvis and the pin-up girl look. -

I was going by stories I've heard from different Nirvana fans and gossip sites years ago. Most were inconsistent. The most common were that she shot him and faked the note, while others say she just drove him to suicide. I haven't heard the thing with Frances' godmother so I guess that's something I'll have to look up. -

I doubt Courtney killed Kurt either. I'm not saying that because I'm a big Courtney and Hole fan. All this supposed proof I've seen is just fanboy nonsense. This is a topic that's been beaten to death though. -

Actress and pop singer from Hong Kong. From time to time I enjoy listening to her. She's one other artist besides Lana whose stuff I can just get lost into. Although I don't know a lick of the Cantonese language. Cute voice, cinematic and soothing music. I like traditional instruments here.

This album is the main reason why I can't wait for the new year. -
Delicious Baby Blue Love Catch and release Noir Scarface I got bored of Ride and Gods & Monsters. Not sure why. I still play them. I rarely get the urge to listen to Bel Air. Lust For Life is the only song on LFL that I don't adore as much as the rest of the album. It's beautiful and all, but I can't really get into The Weekend.

I laugh whenever I hear this snippet.

Lana's inconsistency is relatable. I can imagine myself being like her if I was a singer/musician; holding back or pushing things forward, not delivering projects I promised, reworking and adding or scrapping material. Being like that is a bad habit.
