  1. She's been blamed for the Lolita romanticism since forever. I do agree with a user who tweeted under there how uncomfortable it was that they used an actual teenager for the role of Dolores in the movie. Do what Grease did and use actors over the age of 20 to play these awkward roles involving teens.
  2. 10 years later... I'm still hoping to someday hear Sherlock Holmes, LA Don't Take It Away, and Oh Love Let Me Sleep. These 14 year old songs should just get leaked if she's not going to use them anymore.
  3. Said it wasn't available in the US when I clicked on the link..
  4. Trouble was perfect. One of the best albums of this past decade I think. A shame it didn't get the recognition it deserved.
  5. Daisies is alright. Better than anything I heard on Witness at least. Was listening to the unreleased KP songs I have saved and it's such a shame the 2005-2007 (A) album was shelved. From the more personal songs like Box or Wish You The Worst, to silly fun ones like Nothing like the 1st Time, That was some of her best work. That's the Katy I used to stan.
  6. I don't know if I'd have the courage to go up to her. Not for being nervous or shy, but I'd want to give her space too. I feel bad that most famous people get little privacy on their time off. The only celebrity I saw in person was the singer P!nk. She, her busband, and kids came to eat at the restaurant I working at. I'm not a fan of hers so I didn't recognize her at first, but I looked over at her table a few times because her youngest (who was a little baby at the time) was ADORABLE! She seemed nice, she was smiling at everyone.
  7. She has noticeably gained weight, but she's far from overweight or full blown fat. But people were calling her fat even during Tropico just because she had some rolls forming when she sat down on top of the car in the behind-the-scenes photos, which is a normal human thing. Everyone has a pinch of fat or some stretch marks even the fittest people.
  8. These new pictures of Blackpink are beautiful!
  9. Wikipedia hints it was originally intended to be a new album when mentioning she talked about working on a new album, that a month later things were changed to "BTD:Paradise Edition".
  10. Paradise is a whole different aesthetic and sound from BTD, and it's 8 songs or 9 songs when you count Burning Desire. To me it's always been another album.
  11. Meh. I want a full CY/Teddy album. Wish she put as much time on herself as she does for all these other people.
  12. I just found Elita/Yungelita this week. I was enjoying her music until I found out she's Melanie's friend and is said to be a pedo. Ruined This is more like music I don't feel comfortable getting into because of the artist's shadiness. Same thing applies to Doja Cat, I liked a handful of her songs but she always came across obnoxious and racist (the line about "now we both looking Asian" in So High).
  13. Some areas are slowly re-opening. A few shopping malls open again, and some restaurants starting to allow dine in but with social distancing, staff still have to wear masks.
  14. Yes, she's more than just "A Thousand Miles". So many beautiful songs.
  15. Cute dress! She still looks blonde, just not as light. I'm sorry but that brightness/filter from last week's selfie posted on instagram made her hair look fried. Looks much better here.
  16. Seems like NFR is a favorite for many fans I see here and on insta. It's good so don't get me wrong thinking I don't like it, just that it's not my favorite. It's not even in my top 3.
  17. That look she had on the LFL cover and this video is one of my favorite outfits of hers.
  18. So far I think she's just decent, but I see some potential (that's why I started a topic). I'm not fond of her stage name though. Musically she sounds similar to Melanie. Aesthetic/looks wise, UV/HM Lana in "Luna Park" video, and Cry Baby or Electra Heart in the "Lolita", and "Vendetta" videos.
  19. I just came across this girl today and found her..... interesting. She doesn't have much out, but by the three music videos she has available, it's obvious she's HEAVILY influenced by Lana, Marina, and Melanie. What I know about her so far -She's from Cosenza, Italy - 24 years old -was a contestant of The Voice in Italy A performance on The Voice, singing in English. Social media links: YouTube, Instagram, Twitter
  20. Lorde is also another for me. I played Pure Heroine back to back a few times when it first came out trying to get into it. I can tolerate her music but it bores me after a bit.
  21. I'm reminded of Slayer who to this day still get accused of glorifying the holocaust for their song "Angel Of Death" about the nazi doctor at Auschwitz. Jeff Hanneman said this in reaction to the controversy: "I know why people misinterpret it, it's because they get this kneejerk reaction to it. When they read the lyrics, there's nothing I put in the lyrics that says necessarily he was a bad man, because to me well, isn't that obvious?" Same can apply to Lana's past lyrics about drugs, Lolita, and abusive relationships. The fact that the music sounds beautiful, soft, and classy make it easier for people to come to the conclusion that she's romanticizing these bad situations. She's also blamed for fueling the Lolita fetishization by clueless teenagers on tumblr. Which to be honest, a lot of these kids did get it by listening to "Lolita", "Off To The Races", and "Put Me In a Movie". But I still don't think it's fair to blame the artist over people misinterpreting their work. I also remember Rihanna's "Love The Way You Lie" in 2011/2012 sparked controversy about romanticizing abuse on feminist blogs. So there's a WOC singer who also went through what Lana talked about.
  22. While not the exact same line, thought it might be interesting to point out anyways that "roller coasters, coca cola, (and meth)" come up in 3 songs. Betty Boop Boop: Roller coaster, coca cola, crystal methamphetamine. Hawaiian Tropic: I'm shimmering in love on that crystal meth. Coca cola kid, roller coaster child... Butterflies Pt.2: Puts them on a roller coaster, lures them in with coca cola.
  23. I personally liked "White Hot Forever" for a title and wish she would've kept it. It had a magical summer-y feeling for me. It was so "Lana". Now after the drama surrounding her IG posts I see how WHF could become a controversial title.
  24. Her face looks fuller and I think it could also be weight related. It's obvious she gained since LFL. Just another guess, especially since I have a similar body type and fat distribution as her.
  25. I hope she never does it again. You're right. The excitement wore off by the time we finally got the album. Nothing felt new because we already heard the same singles and snippets for a year.
