was going to write about Get Free here, but decided to post that in Get Free, and some other thoughts...
including the connections not only to herself in the album, the connection of different songs to other of her songs, many almost sequels to those songs or answer songs
 
and also answer songs and links to Elton, Bruce and John Lennon
 
and the final thought was that today, having gone to the movies to see for the umpteenth time, on the 25th anniversary "The Lion King" and thinking one of these
days it would be great if Lana scored an entire animated  film

I don't get why everyone's coming for White Mustang when In My Feelings is so much cringier. The hook is so bad. "You got me in my feeeeeeelings." What an anticlimactic melody. The "who's doper than this bitch part" could have saved it if she didn't then regress back to "I'm feeeeling all my fucking feeeeeeeeeelings." And she might not have even said the iconic "crying while I'm coming" lyric. It's a drag of a song.
 
White Mustang is underdeveloped. If the production were more varied and she actually put effort into singing the chorus, it would have been a very cute short song. The whole theme is very Lana-esque, and both the whistling and the "you're gonna ????" melodies at the end are great. I don't get why she makes songs with good verses and then ruins them with lazy production and choruses *side eyes Guns and Roses*. Anyway looking forward to that video, hope its longer than 2:45.
 
I'm still feeling LFL. I'm happy she made such a diverse album even if it pissed the gays off. TNC remains one of the best off this record. I don't get how some folks drag Lana for being too repetitive and then essentially say "make BTD/UV 2.0." Those records (ESPECIALLY UV) were made at a certain point in her life and she can't just get that back. Im glad she's experimenting with folky sounds and collabs and semi political lyrics. Just get higher quality trap beats, Lana. BTD had great beats, idk why they've cheapened so much. Also COMMIT to your political lyrics. GBAAATBWII makes little sense. WTWWAWWJKD is confusing. BPBP is confused. Change is cute. Get Free comes from a personal place, which made it the most genuine out of all of them. I would kill for that original overly personal version.

For me LFL starts from 13 Beaches 

Yeah I think UV was always UV, but Black Beauty was like the "center" or the "essence" of that album originally, I don't remember where I read that though.

'Heroin' in Lust For Life is what 'Blackest Day' was in Honeymoon. Under-rated lyrical masterpiece.

it really kind of drags on until the bridge, it can seem very lifeless in the production, the melody is nice but it just goes on and on and on
 
i'm not the biggest fan of the whistling; when people said it was there i was hoping for a softer more vintage chevy sounding (a la every man gets his wish)- instead it's this awkward more stark whistle
 
plus since it's such a short song and not even an interlude it's easy to consider it to be scraped off the album 

I can't believe some people think White Mustang is the worst song when Coachella and In My Feelings exist

omg i can't at y'all dissing Get Free and TNC, they are two of the best songs in the album, and TNC has te potential to reach to a wider audience, not just to us, the fans

i think it's bc many GP love her with her VG, LfL, West Coast, Summertime Sadness style pop & radio friendly songs

If I wasn't so used to hearing John Lennons voice, I probably would feel the same way, lol. But having grown up with a lot of Beatles and Lennon, hearing how similar Seans voice and singing style is to his father, gives the song a lot of nostalgic value. And the melody is just so pretty

The only track that is ruined by the collab is LFL. "They say only the gooddy yoooooung" and my ears bleed.
And although I like BPBP, Stevie always sounds like Spongebob.
Sean's the best non-rap-collab, the gays just can't fit him into their tumblr minds

The second part of Heroin really grew on me, I can now love that track.
Still, the "OAHAHAHAH"'s are produced so terribly, it's not even cute Low-Fi charme anymore, it's just annoying. The way the layered vocals cut of differently ... ugh, why?

She just outsold two big-name male artists and got her second #1 while one of her opponents literally tried cheating his way to the top. How's that for shattering this increasingly male-dominated music chart scene so far this year? Lana not once mentioned wanting to go #1, fuck she didn't even tweet a link for the album download until almost a week after release, she did no promo whatsoever (per usual), had no radio support whatsoever (once again, per usual), she made no TV or radio appearances and she STILL got that #1!
 
The fact that Lana is selling as much in her first week as massive, mainstream, radio-supported artists like Lorde and Katy are is truly something to praise. There is obviously something special about Lana and her music. I can't name any other artist who could get away with doing the bare minimum promotion-wise and still go #1. But it's because she puts in the time in the studio and she works so hard to make music that is so signature to her. She's so consistent in sound, aesthetic, and 2-year releases. I love Lana so much and I just wish her fans and the general public would acknowledge just how well she's doing for such a low-key artist. That's how powerful her music is.
