Can I be honest? I love this mystery. I really have no idea how this album gonna be and I think that it will be good listen to it for the first time without any kind of "spoiler". I mean, I know that we're all dying to hear this fucking album, but I bet that Lana knows what she's doing (but her managers don't know what they're doing lol, they fucking suck)

Lust For Life is like one of her least slow and dreary songs?? The lyrics are really sweet too, c'mon! ( > 3 < ) I guess I understand people who don't like her music because I usually judge a song by its melody (especially if it's playing in the background and I don't care about the lyrics) and if it's not appealing to me, then... (   > __ > ) If the song sounds nice, I give the lyrics a try. (Except for my favourite artists ofc, I always listen to their lyrics, this applies more to radio songs they keep on repeat) But great lyrics can really lift a song to another level.
 
I remember that I played Summertime Sadness for some high school classmates on one evening during our trip to Dublin and they didn't recognise it until someone realized it was that remix they had all heard. Ugh. I just wanted them to know the real song, the real feelings the lyrics give, because honestly, that remix do no favour to the lyrics at all. Kristijan Majic is more or less the only guy who makes remixes that fit the feelings the lyrics want to tell. He's a Lana remix god. ♥ Fucked my way up to the top is like... a sparkling jewel among all the Lana remixes. His are better than the official ones, I don't know why Universal won't hire him to do the remixes (or however it works).

There's a reason why people dont like Lana is bc she isn't a pop star, she's an artist. Theres a difference, pop stars are people who makes music for their fans, in a pop sounding way, mixing sounds from different genres in what's new and hot now. Where as Lana did the complete opposite. Lana got her sound from genres long dead, and made them work in her favor. Her sound was years in the works, and really didn't get recognition until she added a mainstream hip hop sound of 2011, while still remaining a very unique sound. It seems to me though, that Lana couldn't really fit anything mainstream so much, her voice isn't equipped for it bc she has a very vintage sound in her very own voice, not in the music. She's just a woman far from her time, and only those souls who have a connection towards that time, will fully feel and understand her soul, her music.

THIS. And its going to make me so sad and angry when it happens. When Bowie died I had people on my facebook (who had made fun of me to my face when we were in school for liking Bowie) sharing his songs and writing 'heartfelt' messages. I don't even get why people do stuff like that.

Lyrically, yes but sonically? I don't think so.
However, what you did point out correctly is how Lana tends to pick up stories and further elaborate on them. Like on UV she was grieving the end of the relationship and in BAR she's much more confident and has this F You attitude.
 
I remember her saying that CW represented her mental state when UV dropped. So basically her being on her way to forget about the guy that fucked her over but being crazy and mad as fuck. Then, throughout the album she explains how it got to that point.
 
On Honeymoon she has a very melancholic, dreamy view on their relationship. I'd even go as far to say that Honeymoon is mirroring UV but from a very different perspective. She dreams about their relationship and how it could have went had fame not gotten into the way (Honeymoon, Swan Song, God Knows I Tried, 24). 
 
On Lust for Life she has fully recovered and is ready to face the world and instead of looking back, she's looking forward (which could explain the futuristic themes she's been playing with). Her music and her persona is still vintage but she's singing about the present and the future, not the past. It's interesting how she's constantly playing with the concept of time and juxtaposing the future with the past and etc. I think that's why she put Burnt Norton on HM. It's supposed to explain what she does and how she plays with the concept of time and how the past influences the future which is shaped by our actions in the present, etc.

I honestly don't understand how people can be so ignorant towards such beautiful music. I was downstairs watching tv with my family yesterday and Lust For Life came on, and they were all like "why do you like this? It's so slow and dreary, it's making me wanna cut". And i'm like whatttttt? It's like nobody actually pays atention to lyrics anymore. Also the fact that she kills herself in the video didn't help either... though i tried explaining that it was just a metaphore about diving into the unknown and coming out on the bright side but they still didn't get it. Eugh it makes me so madd.
 
Watch Lana get apprieciated a million times more once she dies... it happens all the time. They'll be like "aww we loved her songs blah blah blah"

I MAY BE COMPLETELY WRONG HERE AND A BIT DELULU but I'm 99% sure that the Swedish radio stations played Queen of Disaster a whole summer on repeat all days long, and I liked it - a cute song about love with a fun beat. The radio stations almost made me sick of it though, they played it so often.
I had no idea that it was Lana back then, I wasn't interested in her songs yet (I bet I hadn't even heard her name yet) and can you imagine how surprised I was when I found out some time later that my favorite artist Lana Del Rey was that singer they played all summer??
And I suppose the radio stations found out that it's unreleased because they haven't played it since. I guess someone just found it online and then played it on the radio one summer, lol. Ah, the royalties she could've gotten..!
 
Is there someone else who's Swedish and can confirm this? Because... I'm pretty sure I heard Queen of Disaster that summer! Or am I having made up memories??

I would literally DIE for this, Lana's version might not turn as flamboyant but I NEED to hear her version of the "we're going steady like it's 1954" and "you don't need to worry about making me crazy" parts, really one of my fav songs ever, this version in particular really destroys me. Plus it gives me huge Lizzy vibes idk why but it makes me think of Pinup Galore and TOSTB and songs like this, Lana has potential to really belt songs like this
