The drums (& the production overall) actually really remind of Rick's work on Young & Beautiful, Angels Forever and the like. But I guess it's also likely that all three worked on the song

Eh Grammy nominations are mostly a random combination of MOR music + critically acclaimed stuff that isn't too weird + what's on the top of the charts. Her snub last year probably doesn't mean anything really. Paradise's nomination came out of nowhere so you never know.
