I'm not sure it takes 3 months for Blue Banisters to be pressed. I think that only was the case for Chemtrails because of Covid back then, now the vinyl plant probably has adapted to the situation. In 2017, Lust for Life was changed as late as June 8 and the vinyls were released on July 21. Plus RCS was announced a month and a half ago now, Blue Banisters - the song - 20 days ago, which means the album was probably renamed already in early April. I'm almost certain there aren't two albums unfortunately

im not sure it is, it's quite likely there's a song called rock candy sweet on the album. only with paradise was there no title track. white hot forever (title track) only got reworked into a song with another title because it had the time to, given that there were 9 months between the announcement of whf and that for chemtrails, while blue banisters was announced only a month after rock candy sweet was. so i'm guessing there still is a song called rock candy sweet, we don't know if this link is fake

um that guy also listened to Bird World 20 minutes ago and it seems that he had never listened to either Bird World or Garden of Eden before. does this mean they are circulating right now ??? oh god im getting hopeful they could leak soon (which is all the more pleasant because the songs we know people have like ufb can't seem to leak) also, for the people who decide not to listen to anything before the album drops (it's never going to be so easy to do this as right now, considering there are literally three months and a half between chemtrails and blue banisters) this would be a great moment for some nice leaks

I'm having a hard time expressing how I feel about this album, but I'm going to try. What you can't deny is that this album is cohesive. But unfortunately, contrary to Honeymoon, such cohesiveness leads to a feeling of similarity between some of the songs. I think it's also because they were produced by Jack, because no matter what you think of him, you can't deny that the production on some parts of some of the tracks is barely noticeable - I'm thinking of Wild at Heart, Dance Till We Die, but even Chemtrails, because the beautiful subtle instruments throughout the songs are drowning in the rest. And that, added to the fact that most of the chords are really basic, makes most of the songs lackluster, all the more so because not all the songs are this way. Take White Dress. The beautiful and original chord progression and melody of the first verse evidence how common the chord progression for most of the songs is. Yosemite does stand out thanks to its unique atmosphere and beautiful guitar riffs that add so much to the song. To me, Yosemite being that way makes the songs that follow seem somewhat dull. I'm okay with her reusing songs from past albums, but I can't help being a bit disappointed when the highly-anticipated wild at heart is virtually a capella on the verses and has the HTD instrumental in the chorus. I just can't think of it as a song of its own. I guess I should have expected less - I remember hoping that Not All Who Wander Are Lost would be a cinematic song, very mature and eventful, that would beautifully reflect her journey - but her older songs just stand out so much more. Maybe I would have enjoyed this album more without the delay, but right now, it feels like those are songs that were done a long time ago, which we should've got a long time ago, and which suffer flaws - Jack's production, lack of actual bridges. I still love White Dress, Chemtrails, Yosemite and Tulsa Jesus Freak, but the rest does feel like something is missing.

Even though NFR isn't one of my favorite albums of hers, I'll give it one thing: California tops almost anything in her discography. This song is so high above the rest. She hadn't made a song that was this powerful in ages. The beautiful and haunting melody, the strength and subtlety of the production, the darkness and power of the atmosphere, the deep, heartbreaking lyrics, the coldness of it all mixed with such raw, such heartfelt, such emotional content, it simply blows my mind every single time I listen to it. Anyone that has met someone they loved who then went away can relate to it in the best possible way. It's so cathartic it enables the listener to find beauty in such loss. Her voice sounds both so powerful and so desperate at the end of the chorus, it never fails to hit me. I knew this would be a career highlight from the moment I heard the qobuz snippet.

When you think of it, it's good that a woman should actually take the time and be strong enough to address the misogyny-fueled backlash she's been getting, and not just have to go through it silently. On the other hand, I'm not sure I really understand why it's coming now. She's getting such critical acclaim and the fact that she should respond to criticism from, say, Harper's article with 'thank you for that' instead of using arguments, as well as her lack of humility - she said she was literally changing the world 24/7 and she constantly refers to herself as a 'genuine singer songwriter' and it's a bit funny she should point out narcissism as a growing issue at the same time - kinda makes me worried that she simply can't handle criticism anymore, maybe because she's gotten used to being praised all the time. I agree the criticism she's been getting is different from that of other singers, but still, why does it come out now. To me, it's normal that there should be reaction from the media when she says stuff like she did in the Annie Mac interview, and although she has the right to say she doesn't like those articles, and even to make a whole record about them, the journalists have the right to write them, because of you know, free speech. And the fact that she refuses to change her mind or listen to anyone who tells her about the problems linked with QTFC doesn't make me less worried about the lyrics in that album. I hope she's going to criticise the misogyny or aggressiveness of the media, not the fact that they have critical judgement.

maybe she's going to not release any single though? I could picture that. she could just randomly drop the album. it doesn't seem to be made to serve commercial purposes.

one think that makes me sad is that she's probably going to break the tradition of having one LFL outtake on her new album I mean I'm glad she's moving on but having Yosemite on Chemtrails was delightful not only because of how good the song is but also because it's a bit heartbreaking to discover a song that dates back to 2015-2016 for the first time, through official ways. I love the soothed, Honeymoon-inspired, stripped-down vibes she used to have in 2016 before all the baddie/QFTC mess, I love the richness of Rick's production. So although LFL is not a career highlight, it's always a bit heartbreaking, in a good way, to get material from that very special era. OR we're getting Wild One on RCS because its title totally fits the theme omg team delulu keeps on winning

The thing is, I don't get why she said to Annie Mac she didn't have 4 songs ready for LDR8 in January. Because there's no way she didn't make several songs between March 2020 and January 2021, especially given the fact that she hasn't even been touring or anything, and she threatened said as early as May 2020 that she was going to write about the QFTC controversy. And in November she did tweet she was working on 2 albums, one of which was probably RCS. So why on earth did she say that in January? Everything would make so much sense if she hadn't.

But on the other hand, she and delays do have history. And I also keep wondering why she said to Annie Mac she didn't have "four songs" ready for the next record. I have a hard time believing she made an entire album within the last two months.

One thing that could be different this time around is she seems to know we went through hell with NFR and Chemtrails pre-release. She seemed genuinely annoyed and sorry we couldn't get it in December-January, and she even acknowledged she didn't keep us updated a lot in that livestream. So maybe this time around she's more cautious as to the effect of her multiple delays on our well-being.

what I really love about white dress is the first verse. It has such a beautiful melody and such an original chord progression at the same time. I wish there were more original chord progressions and melodies on this album, because even the most beautiful songs, such as Yosemite, have pretty common chords

I'm really manifesting electric guitar on several songs. And not the type of electric guitar that's used on The Greatest or Venice Bitch, the electric guitar from Pretty When You Cry, Cruel World or even from Heroin. I know both kinds are electric guitars but they just sound so different. I'm not a specialist but the second kind sounds more like the kind you would find in old-fashioned rock songs. And we didn't get any on Chemtrails, so it'd be great to have it back

I'm lucky that she's not dragging stuff out forever. I mean, I'm glad to be getting Chemtrails just now, but the record was literally done one year ago, almost all of the songs even dating back to 2019. So why wait that much? If she has stuff ready, I'd be more than happy if she put it out, instead of throwing all of her 2 years work together into an incoherent album like she did with Lust For Life. If everything she made could be released, that'd be a dream. I'm almost sure the album will have several songs about QTFC though, but maybe that'll come with a new sound. I don't think she'd go exclusively country to address those topics. I definitely see something more rock-oriented.

omg it's very likely Dealer is going to be on it, isn't it? since it seems to be more angry, rock-oriented, and the songs that are on it must have been made around the same time as Dealer I guess, and also she reused BAR and Yosemite, the only outtakes she spoke about Lana doing the leakers' work releasing Dealer on her own terms

one detail that i love so much is how she keeps using her low voice at the very end of Yosemite when she sings 'the right reasons' when normally she would go higher, for like one second. it's really beautiful. it reminds me of the way she would harmonise over 13 Beaches using a lower register than the background vocals in her 2017 live performances. It also anchors the song in the lust for life era, because that one subtle melodic variation at the end of the last chorus is something she also does in Love

Yosemite outsold every song on Lust For Life

it's the way White Dress has the chaotic, utterly sad tone of Fine China and the heartbreaking retrospectiveness of I Talk To Jesus at the same time for me
