  1. Patrick Warren ended up playing instruments for Lana on records after Say Yes to Heaven and Fine China leaked. He worked on some Lust for Life tracks that were definitely arranged in 2017. I wonder if they talked about it…
  2. Thinking about how Lana probably saw “Say Yes to Heaven (Demo 1)” on YouTube, clicked on it, and it was truly nothing she had ever heard before.
  3. It’s a bit of a reprieve in some ways to know that the real vision for these three songs as produced by Rick is not what we know, because while I love all three tracks, I felt like they were lyrically quite refreshing and poignant to only be left at what appeared to be the early/rough stages.
  4. So the real 2013 versions of Say Yes to Heaven, Fine China and Your Girl—all produced by Rick Nowels—remain unleaked. Wow. Cannot believe that for 6 years we thought otherwise.
  5. From what I gather, yes to the first and last questions, but the James Ford one was for Ultraviolence (March/April 2014) and the STINT one was for Honeymoon (late-2014). Someone please correct me if I’m wrong!
  6. Ohhhh, my understanding was that what we knew as V1 and V2 were just stems from Patrick Warren (with the purpose of being a reference for Rick to produce the full thing), not at all having been touched by Rick (other than the vocal stem). But I’m not so sure lol!
  7. Thank you @BlackoutZone for clarifying that! That is such a shock! So what I gather is that SYTH V1 is the James Ford Demo, and SYTH V2 is the STINT demo, but that leaves me fuzzy about the 2013 Rick demo - I get that what we had was an arrangement of stems from a reference demo made for Rick, but was a real demo actually made by Rick using that reference BEFORE the James Ford version?
  8. One of her best songs - I always thought it was a retrospective of the narrative she relays on Yayo, in some ways. Several lyrical parallels indicate this to me - Yayo: “Put me onto your black motorcycle” Guns and Roses: “Motorcycle love divine” Yayo: “50s baby doll dress for my I do” Guns and Roses: “I wasn’t the marrying kind, I should’ve done it anyway” Yayo: “It only takes two hours to Nevada” Guns and Roses: “We should’ve left Las Vegas” LOVE when she makes thematically continuous but subtle references between songs - it is so conducive to the “grand narrative” of LDR.
  9. Potential lyrical reference - Diana Ross - Do You Know Where You’re Going to? (Swan Song)
  10. For albums you can add “Ladies of the Canyon” by Joni Mitchell! Referenced in Bartender 🔮
  11. No, that live was on Blue Banisters release day! I’ll link it in the spoiler for anyone who wants a refresh on some of the facts we got out of it!
  12. LOL no there was! She thought it was her dad, but she opened it and it ended up being hotel service.
  13. She did - someone must’ve commented something about it because she said in passing, “I love that song called ‘Your Girl’” and the fan she was on live with (@/lanaisababe) said “oh! That should’ve been on the album!” and Lana said “yeah” before going to check who was at her hotel room door lol.
  14. What a wonderful reminder! This should be pinned to the top of every thread because it’s true, we are actually all similar in the way we’re brought here by a favourite singer. It’s so unifying!
  15. The Lipsters who dislike I Talk to Jesus have clearly never chatted with the carpenter himself!
  16. What is the point of editing unreleased songs before they are leaked - it is because the leakers want to maintain some sort of exclusivity of knowing the real version was only heard by a select few OR so that the leak can be traced back to them for credit’s sake (with edits being equivalent to tags)?
  17. She just said this in an interview right after her show for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, which was on May 27, 2017! We don’t know which tracks were included in those 18 - we can only speculate. Here’s the original interview https://www.bbc.com/news/newsbeat-40073561.amp
  18. Even when the world is burning - I stay serene
  19. @BlackoutZone I’d actually love to know what your favourite Lana songs are and how having some behind-the-scenes intel on her discography has shaped your listening experiences and your taste in her music.
  20. Jesus is My Boyfriend sounds like a paranormal seance with its echoed and haunting layers and evocative lyricism. But her harmonies are so gorgeous on it, and it’s so camp that the song even exists. Love her
  21. All this talk about LFL has me thinking - @BlackoutZone are you aware of a finished cut for the original music video of The Next Best American Record in wide circulation (with lip synch scenes of the original lyrics)?
  22. Thank you so much @BlackoutZone for these incredible pieces of info. I imagine you’ll address this in your forthcoming post about Say Yes to Heaven and Eclipse’s leaks, but I’d love to know if what we know as “Version 1” & “Version 2” are indeed stem edits of a single version done by Rick in November 2013. Thank you so much again for sharing your insight!
