  1. OK but Lana overtly embracing her sexuality in her visuals and writing ironically from the perspective of the “American Whore” mutually reinforces the imagery and narrative of this record, which is a blatant middle finger to critics and skeptics alike, much in the vein of Fucked My Way Up to the Top. So actually, I have to say a sincere and heartfelt thank you to @Xenoblade 3 for their true praxis and performative reenactment of the exact audience Lana very strategically wants to have clutch their pearls at the mere sight or mention of contemporary feminism where a woman is equipped with the choice to be sexually liberated on the same album and within the same discography that she can express sentiments that are both “saintly” and “slutty.” So thank you to this lovely user for giving Lana an opportunity to further her message.
  2. God, I feel like being a bitch but I just don’t have it in me!
  3. We went from sequences like Heroin—Change—Get Free to Fishtail—Peppers—Taco Truck x VB. She is so funny. But in all seriousness — it is such an accomplishment that Lana has gotten continually lighter in her released discography and has incorporated such humour into it. That evolution in and of itself embodies the fact that life is gray—not black and white—and has shades to it. While her earlier records may have been serious in tone, her recent records (and I think this one especially) have been more light in tone — but all throughout she’s addressed the grave realities of life and has continued to share her thoughtful introspection. The nature in which she conducts that introspection, however, has been incredibly dynamic over the last 11 years, and that’s been so rewarding to listen to. And reflects the true trajectory of human life!
  4. Our joint reign You are a legend for a lot of reasons, but guessing that title is just one - we’re barely scratching the surface of your legendaric behaviour with that one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I can’t even say thank you to this because it’s not like I came up with that title as a figment of my own imagination and really was just channeling Lana as she was living her life to create that title, but THANK YOU seriously, I’m so glad it’s your favourite <3 you are so sweet (and I know you just recently joined but you’re one of my new favourites around here!)
  5. I feel like this record is really going to be the one that’s post-QFTC. Blue Banisters definitely touched on it in some ways, but I feel that this one is going to lean all the way into every theme she discussed (karmic lineage, sexual liberation, and fragility).
  6. “Long Nails On Your Back” was so bad that it was camp But I will say, it was giving Stargirl, which I can always get behind
  7. Lol you’re not dumb, don’t say that! Her grandmothers’ names are Madeline and Cynthia.
  8. She’s so camp for making the last three tracks kind of evocative of food. She really said fish tacos with peppers for the end of this record
  9. Ooh that’s probably true. She said “and also for giving me Margaret” when thanking Jack so I feel like that could mean either for bringing Margaret Qualley into her life or the song tbh.
  10. I wonder if “Margaret (feat. Bleachers)” is a reference to Margaret the Log Lady from Twin Peaks, because Jack posted this in May 2019 - https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx3prgspv5b/?igshid=MWI4MTIyMDE=
  11. I’d also argue that it’s possible they purposely quietened every instrument on Blue Banisters, so as to emphasize Lana’s voice. She did say it was a record for the critics, so I wouldn’t be surprised if she really wanted to make sure that the delivery of her words wouldn’t be detracted from by the production — even if the result wasn’t a favourite among select fans.
  12. I remember him mentioning in an Instagram post for the release of Chemtrails that they kept stripping back the songs, so my guess is that Lana’s early vision for the album was a more lowkey sound - but with the events of 2020 leading up to the release, it seemed that she wanted to reflect her current psyche more by updating the production a bit - but because of COVID and them working remotely, I guess that didn’t translate and things were left as they were before Lana decided she wanted something different.
  13. Yes, that’s what she said! Hop on whatever train you’d like
  14. It’s actually the opposite 💀 Lana told Annie Mac that she “really really wanted more from Jack” and said elsewhere that she encouraged Jack to go “wilder” with the production (which I guess certainly doesn’t help lessen the often unwarranted hate for Jack here lol) - but I guess it might have been difficult to be on the same page since they were apart as Chemtrails was being finalized during the early pandemic (Lana in LA and Jack in NY).
  15. Charlie posted a photo of him and Lana at Conway Studios (where Jack usually works) on December 23rd, and Lana included a video from Conway Studios with Jack and Charlie in a photo dump on Christmas!
  16. Yes! Especially because of her story mentioning Ian Fitchuk, who isn’t credited on any Ocean Blvd songs. Of course, it could be production, but I doubt it, since it seems all the co-writers are typically producers for her too.
  17. Omg @The Stargirl Pinky I just saw this! You are a living legend, you already know you’ve had my vote since you first joined 2 summers ago. One of my favourites here
