  1. Definitely! Marital themes in Lana’s work have almost always been so existential, and since Fishtails could potentially be towards the very end of the record, it would be such a moment to fade off this very long and dynamic album!
  2. Fishtail 1. an object that is forked like a fish's tail. "carved detail including fishtail terminals on the banisters" 2. an uncontrolled sideways movement of the back of a motor vehicle. "he hit the brakes, sending the car into a fishtail that carried him across the street" verb So these definitions—aside from the hairstyle—seem to indicate conflict. A “forked” object reminds me of the phrase, “fork in the road”, which is a metaphor for making a choice between two major life decisions, and “an uncontrolled sideways movement” just connotes chaos.
  3. We don’t, I think it was @cherrytropico who said Kintsugi and Fishtails could be interchangeable given the lengths of the titles of track 8 and track 14 in the LQ image.
  4. Now that we know the sample is the last track, and what Lana said to W Mag about “saying thank you and goodbye” on every closer of her records, I don’t think it’s Cinnamon Girl. I think a strong contender is The Greatest since that song feels very much like closure from everything. Since Lana, Jack, and Mike are writers on the song, it has to be a Jack track from 2019–present (which rules out anything from Blue Banisters, and it’s probably not something from COTCC, since it’s fairly recent to have any “shocking” fan favourites). It’s either an NFR! track OR it could be something from 2006-2008 when she was writing mostly on her own. That said, a sample usually means it’s related to an instrumental, because Lana has self-referenced before with lyrics, but that’s merely a reference - not a sample. So I really think it’s The Greatest.
  5. We’re the ones who should be thanking you for compiling all this influx of information so comprehensibly and in one place!!!
  6. I think Lana kind of touched upon this in her livestream on Blue Banisters release day. Lana and Mike only dated for around 7 months (late June 2021-early January 2022), but in that October 2021 livestream, she was chatting with that fan Zach about how you can move on to the next relationship and still not be over a previous one. I really think that relationship with Sean was some sort of psychic opening to her karmic lineage because it seems she really operationalized her feelings about that breakup to channel answers about her familial origin and past. Mike has credits on the songs that seem to have been written as she was exploring this last fall, so maybe that relationship helped her move through that in some ways. It’s super interesting!
  7. I think “reference audio” simply means that Rich was given the song ahead of time so that he could better understand Lana’s vision for the video (since it was very much driven by the narrative of the song), and thus, help Lana plot specific scenes at specific points of the song. It could be that Lana would have made changes to the song even afterwards, but probably only in production since the video they filmed was supposed to match the lyrics of the original version. Since the instrumental in the final version on NFR is the same as the original version, I doubt she planned to make any changes, and that “reference audio”/the leak we got in February 2017 is the final version of the original.
  8. It’s fun to see real references that Lana made in her everyday life over the last 15 months find their way into the songs. Her direct mentions of Harry Nilsson and listening to Don’t Forget Me in a livestream cropping up in the title track, references to her grandparents and her father’s hobby as a deep sea fisherman on Instagram being potential themes of a track, her kind of tongue-in-cheek performance art of “sluttiness” online following QFTC appearing in the album’s visuals and themes to create a grander narrative…. And now the mention of fishtails in that interview at the Gucci Cosmognie show being a (potential) direct reference in a track title…
  9. So here’s where we’re at (orange means not concretely confirmed; thank you to the king @Thoth for laying this out!!) 1. The Grants 2. Fingertips (5:48) –(I couldn’t handle it snippet at 2:39-2:45) 10. [ft. SYML] (interpolation of I wanted to leave by SYML) 11. 10. True! I think we’re going with Grandpa for now given the 👴 emoji (which, as pointed out before, “grandpa” when typed on iPhones suggests that emoji). But God could be an old man too!
  11. Didn’t BoZ say it was almost the correct title? So my guess is that it’s some variation of the title we’re settling on for now- Grandpa/Grandfather, please stand on the shoulders of my father when/while he’s deep sea fishing

    Deftones

I love them! My Own Summer was on my Spotify Wrapped this past year!
  13. OK the discourse has made me realize that I will pass judgement on people’s preference for that. Guilty as charged!
  14. Thinking about when Lana told Annie Mac that if she decides to go barefoot at the Malibu Country Mart, it’s not because she’s unhinged, it’s because she’s connected to the earth…
  15. I see you took my advice and got yourself something better @Sportscruiser is a catch!
  16. They are camp and hallmark titles of LanaBoards! Put some respect on me and @Rorman Nockwell for those!
  17. Omg I love this title so much but now am sad because it doesn’t fit the exact acronym (GPSOTSOMFWHDSF) - adding this to the caliber of “Seafoam Nova”, “Rosary Bead Choir”, and “Liz, I’m Calling from Calihoma”
  18. Anyways - now that we know the sample can be narrowed down by the writing credits, it has to be a track from NFR. Blue Banisters is too recent to have a fan favourite that would be “shocking” - so my guess is that it’s MAC, Venice Bitch, Cinnamon Girl, or The Greatest.
