  1. Arcadia is so underrated, I can’t believe how overlooked it is by so many listeners. When I first heard it, I couldn’t believe she did that. The lyrics are some of the best she’s written (that chorus is everything), her vocals are stunning, and the production is just gorgeous. I admire the way she’s able to weave so many different facets of her life—relationships, fame, and personal growth—into individual songs, and this one is just exemplary of that. It’s probably my favourite on Blue Banisters
  2. I feel like this album is going to be Blue Banisters meets Violet, and I am so ready for it! I’m always inclined to want her to dig deeper, rather than go bigger.
  3. I thought about what Lana said about sending Drew her voice memos and having him chart music over it, and it reminded me of how Violet’s tracks are her voice memos too. The Land of 1000 Fires with its cinematic instrumental and low-fi vocal treatment really makes for an interesting sonic atmosphere, so I’d love for this record to be in the vein of Violet. It would be such an experimental, cinematic, avant garde, psychjazz masterpiece
  4. It’s true, I am one! Mermaid Motel, French Restaurant, and Cruel World (Reprise) on LDR9 confirmed!
  5. Yes, Rob! Give us that impressionistic, surrealist, Lynchian, jazz-piano production! His work on Sweet Carolina is so reminiscent of Debussy, and that paired with Lana’s comments about the album being conversational really make me think of LA Who Am I to Love You and its background music. I think there’s going to be a lot of dissonance in this record, chordally. I’m excited.
  6. Kevin Abstract from Brockhampton loved Venice Bitch so much that he sought out Jack Antonoff to produce an entire record that sounded like it. It was released four months before NFR!
  7. Realistically, I think maybe a single could be released sometime within the next 4 months, maybe around the end of summer, and then the record to follow at most 5 months after that. The last 4 releases with the exception of NFR all had five months between the first single and the album’s release - Blue Banisters (May—October) Chemtrails (October—March) LFL (February—July)
  8. This is such a good thread idea lol I can’t wait for the next one!
  9. I love this and would love for the new record to be in this vein. The dissonant piano also reminds me so much of Violet’s arrangements, and it seems she’s inspired by that project too, what with her calling it her favourite in that IG video recently, and also calling the new album conversational and wordy. <3
  10. Omg I didn’t even read the liner notes! LOL @ me getting excited when this is not new info Ugh so glad we know it’s Jenny Lewis - even with some of Lana’s most direct lyrics, we still have the joy of unravelling the layers to this gorgeous song <3
  11. Now that the song has been out for a year and I’ve been able to really listen to it closely, I hear and really think it’s “most men don’t want a woman with a legacy - it’s her bane”!
  12. The 2017 album of original songs by TLSP and LDR, as well as the select “west coast” covers Lana did with them!
  13. Ugh you have AMAZING taste in music Alan Parsons Project, Alice in Chains, Hole, FJM, Lana, and of course so many more <3
  14. Thank you for asking! <3 here’s mine — Sun — Norman Fucking Rockwell! To me, Norman represents pragmatic risk-taking, which I think is me in a nutshell. Lyrically, there’s a candidness to it, but I like how that candidness is soundtracked to casual and very organic instrumentation, which I feel is a perfect embodiment of how I live my life: very naturally and fun, but still really thoughtfully and with a higher purpose in mind. Moon — Blue Banisters I heavily resonate with the narrative of Blue Banisters, as I believe that record is all about accessing knowledge and power within yourself to find (and create) the answers you’re looking for. I think I am always trying to rationalize my own inner dialogue and that lends itself to a more pragmatic thinking pattern while still allowing room to deliberate upon personal experiences. And I love the emphasis on familial origin within the record—that kind of exploration coupled with a domestic idealism and beautiful home life is really important to my emotional fulfillment, motivations, and peace. Rising — Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass Being the only spoken word record of Lana’s, Violet is a very conversational project! It contains a quiet eclecticism that I think distinguishes it from others, but its little idiosyncrasies and overall warmth make it feel really earnest—I think that describes my disposition and the way I present myself well. There’s a quiet confidence and self-assurance that I really identify with.
  15. What are your big three astrological placements (sun, moon, and rising) as Lana Del Rey albums? 💫 The sun is your identity. It is the essence that you shine out into the world. It represents the vital force that drives you to seek the highest expression of your true self. Your sun sign is how you answer the question “I am” and how you experience life and express your individuality. It also represents the type of energy that you need to feel revitalized. For example, your sun sign’s element is helpful in understanding your self-expression tendencies and how you recharge. The moon is the soul behind your identity. It is the subconscious side of yourself that you typically keep hidden and is the driving force behind your emotional reactions. Your moon sign helps you feel pleasure and pain, joy and sorrow, and gives insight into how you nurture and restore yourself. It is the mecca of your inner world. For example, your moon sign’s element is helpful in understanding your inner world and how you typically react in emotional situations. The rising sign (also known as your Ascendant) is your social personality. It is how you dawn on people as it relates to the zodiac sign that was on the Eastern horizon when you were born. Your rising sign represents your physical body and outward style. It is the manifestation of both your inner and outer world, which can define the balance between your seven dimensions. For example, your rising sign’s element is helpful in understanding the type of energy that drives your physical body and overall approach to life. Discuss away! Can’t wait to read everyone’s answers 🪐
