  1. Crying at how me and my girls turned this thread into a friendship fest, nobody does it like us!
  2. It’s true, it’s true As LB’s resident Lizzy Grant and Lana Del Rey, it’s only right that we are the most enigmatic
  3. @honeybadger Banned for making the most beautiful, gorgeous, Americana, trailer-heaven, kitschy, campy, and overall professional, polished, would-buy-multiple-pressings-of LANA DEL RAY AKA LIZZY GRANT vinyl mock-up! @Super Movie Banned for creating iconic concept albums using unreleased tracks that put real concept albums to SHAME whilst being the nicest and coolest user who has the best taste in music

    Song vs. Song

Mermaid Motel (Demo) vs. Chemtrails Over the Country Club

    Song vs. Song

So hard! Both are Lana Americana classics. But I’d have to say… If You Lie Down With Me vs. Riverside
  6. I actually really love Radiohead too, and was sad to see that dispute lol. I wonder how Lana must have felt, given that she is/was a Radiohead fan — I remember she listed them as influences/one of her favourite bands on her “Lizzy Grant” MySpace page. Love both Get Free and Creep still to this day.
  7. Obsessed with this record at the moment! @Surf Noir @Super Movie I’m joining your little Lizzy Grant club and campaigning for the QOTGS video — we can be a triad!
  8. Oh right!!! I think you told me this last week, actually thank you for answering my question about this again
  9. OK the discourse surrounding Yes to Heaven and Chemtrails always baffled me because I have no idea where there was confirmation that the song was meant for the album. I just remember fake fanmade snippets that were sung in the melody of Yes to Heaven, and claims that it was reworked into ‘White Hot Forever’ — and I guess misinformation about Yes to Heaven and Chemtrails spread like a wildfire. How do we know about the alleged James Ford version from the 2017 TSLP x LDR sessions, by the way?
  10. @YourGirl666 ☠️ Lipster of the Year ☠️
  11. I’ve actually been thinking about this record a lot lately. It’s quite stunning and really lends itself to the glamour of New York and New Jersey, wandering around at night in the neon lights. I can’t believe she wrote this record between the ages of 21 and 22. It is amazing how much star power it has, and how she’s always had this gift of writing — art flows through her like a true force. I actually think this album is her most arthouse-y and is just so evocative of everything she cited as influences at the time, she truly nailed it. I love it, it truly does sound like a black-and-white movie, a sad party, and it does sound famous.
  12. Ultraviolence on vinyl. It doesn’t get better than that
  13. I’m with you! I really like how eerie and sinister the live strings sound. Then the arrangement becomes a bit gritty with the guitar, but then gets super dark and grand when Byron goes into the lower octaves on the piano. It’s magical, paired with Lana’s switching between sultry, deep vocals and siren-like riffs.
  14. I think it’s perfect for BTD’s cohesiveness and overall evocation, but I definitely prefer the classic feeling of the live version, and the demo is so underrated! I love the bass, I can’t hear it in the album version, but it would add to the romantic feeling of the song!
  15. Don’t get me wrong, I love Million Dollar Man as it is on Born to Die, and it’s perfect for the soundscape and sonic world of the record…but listening to the instrumental of the Paradise Tour version + hearing the shouty live vocals in the chorus and the jazzy “ooh”s in the bridge before the last chorus, I wish there was some alternate re-release of the song where we got a studio version of that. It’s just so jazzy and timeless and classic. Lana’s interpolations of “jazz” (UV + HM as albums, Million Dollar Man live, and Why Don’t You Do Right live) are all amazing and show off her talent as a musician and artist, she really suits the genre and knows how to make it her own while staying true to its roots.
  16. This has always fascinated me. Listening to the original 2016 version of that song and the version that ended up on NFR (which was done in 2017), it’s so interesting to see that shift between spite and sympathy that occurred within that 1 year (California was also done in 2017). I remember in the 2014 Rolling Stone interview, Lana said that it was sad they couldn’t be together because their reasons for not being together were purely circumstantial. And I say all of this to not pry, but to just marvel at how impactful a relationship can be, even if it’s over, and how it can basically be distilled into beautiful art in Lana’s case. The tracks that they worked on together appearing on Blue Banisters, as well as Riverside being released on Barrie’s record, is really a moment that represents mutual understanding and acceptance.
  17. I’ve always loved Sad Girl, but I’m really thinking it’s one of Lana’s coolest tracks ever. It’s so underrated and one of her best, actually! Definitely one of my favourites on Ultraviolence.
  18. Never change, @YourGirl666 I’m with @Surf Noir and @Super Movie — I’d show them the Mermaid Motel demo and Trash Magic, hands down. Maybe the Brite Lites demo if we’re feeling a bit grittier
  19. Off to the Races Gods & Monsters West Coast Freak Cherry Cinnamon Girl Tulsa Jesus Freak Dealer I’m basically interpreting an It Girl track to mean the sultriest track that is the most “vibey” and almost menacing
  20. I also live in Canada and got mine from Resident Music! I ordered the yellow COTCC vinyl from them too, and I was quite happy with the service, they’re really great! shipping was quite fast too! https://www.resident-music.com/productdetails&product_id=82956 The John Deere vinyl is the “limited retail exclusive transparent red 2lp w/ alternative artwork - 1 per customer” - hope this helps!
  21. I remember this! It was from a soundcheck on the Endless Summer tour in Chula Vista! I think she says “you can’t stop” before she says the “change it up” part. I can’t find the original video from the rehearsal, but this video has the exact audio!
