  1. Dreaming Near California maybe? Could be a reference to “California Dreamin’” by The Mamas & The Papas, which she expressed her love for during her interview at the Grammy Museum in October 2019 (the same month she mentioned Pacific Blue as a covers album)! As queens @Surf Noir and @prettywhenimhigh mentioned, maybe this is the covers album!
  2. Hmm…my initial thoughts are that it’s plausible the “C” stands for California, especially with the wave logo. I feel like the wave is not random at all, it must lend itself to some sort of California/west coast/nautical motif for whatever project this is.
  3. I’m definitely thinking DNC has to do with the new album, then! I have no idea what it could mean, perhaps she references Del Norte County on the new record or “DNC” is literally the title’s acronym? I’m excited!
  4. Not ashamed to say I did this earlier today
  5. Del Norte County Don’t Need Critics Due Next Christmas (FKA American Standards & Classics) Diamonds Not Crystallized Daughter Now Cold Deserted North Country (a reference to leaving Lake Placid and reflecting upon early years) Just for fun lol — realistically, I think DNC is probably just a region in California, given the iconic Venice jacket. Also, thinking about how places like Long Beach, CA are abbreviated (such as “LBC”).
  6. White Dress is one of my favourite songs of all time, let alone songs that came out this year <3 I’m so happy to see it on year-end lists!
  7. Thank you so much for compiling all the photos! @Elle This look is so gorgeous, I have to say — her makeup is just so perfect and this outfit is already iconic. I love the NFR nods with the hair and jacket too
  8. The way I am too, and not even ironically. Give me Lana x Nikki all day, every day
  9. I’ll never forget how I felt when I heard MAC and VB for the first time. It was like, everything I had ever wanted from Lana - it was insane that she hadn’t released something in that vein of sound before, because it always felt like she had that in her. It was implicitly always there. After yesterday’s look — as superficial as an indicator that may be — I really hope and wonder if she’s going to endeavour upon that folk-rock sound but with even surfier elements (what with the speculated Del Norte County motif, which I’d love! West coast, best coast)
  10. I wonder if the other job opportunities have to do with getting back into community service, specifically in regards to outreach and recovery. Lana has cited that as a passion and important initiative of her life many times — and we obviously know how heavily involved she’s been in that working sector for the last 18 years — so I wonder if it’s that! It’s an admirable cause to make part of your life’s mission, to give back in that way.
  11. The word has been reclaimed by the black community as a term of brotherhood and kinship, and is used in contexts of their choosing. Given its disgusting, historical roots in slavery, it is their prerogative as to whether or not they would like to use the word and how they would like to use it. No person outside of the black community is to use it in any context, and as non-members of the black community, it is not our place to comment on how it is to be used within the community.
  12. Wow — what a speech. I’m glad she said that bit about her family, lineage, WW, and the criticism because it’s really poignant and seems to be the vein through which she’s accessing this new heightened creativity. And that bit about other jobs and “9 to 5”s specifically is intriguing! Sad to hear about her grandma my thoughts are with her and her family!
  13. I hope Lana’s speech is as long as Normani’s, if not longer! I feel like there’s so much insight that she could share upon receiving this award.
