sometimes people who get raped by family/close friends still do hang out with their rapists and try to compartmentalize their relationships (until eventually they implode) and i wished i'd seen less of "well why didn't she fight back, push her away, left" and more of "why didn't martinez back off, why can't she seek enthusiastic sexual partners instead - like all of us, why does she pressure and nag people for sex, why doesn't no mean no, why would she have power trips with the people she claims to be friends with"

There are so many sources about how false rape accusations are rare, it's all good to always critically take in an information but it's not our objective to be the prosecutors and find every way to shut down a victim and disparage them. We should rather make sure to unlearn some of our biases, like teaching guys (and everyone else) that women can be rapists and it's possible to be raped by a girl and it doesn't change how grave this act is, not shaming someone who was raped should be the norm and having an unconventional lifestyle (drugs, being homeless or other) doesn't take away that someone could have been damaged like that.

I love you too, and i think most of us - at least i said - that obviously there is always a probability of lying and making up a story but the probability of ~~all this situation~~ being real is very very high.

It's sad that we have to repeat ourselves bc people are unable to read.

I'm a bit worried of how some people think it's "soo easy" to accuse someone of rape? First of all, when something like that happens it literally takes a toll on your body and mind, that makes it even more difficult to go through the process of reporting it. Which is why many rape victims just keep it to themselves. Plus, people who deal with their emotions and thoughts normally can't nonchalantly accuse someone of raping them. this is why false accusations of rape are rare and, for the most part, aren't received as relevant.

Also even if Tim did struggle in her career, starting one by accusing someone - even is she's right - is madness. Women in the workforce were told, until recently maybe bc times are changing, that they needed to shut up about their sexual assault because even if it happened it could ruin their careers. And women artists don't want to be seen as  -at best- victims or worse cunning liars because they risk to never be taken seriously in their craft.

I'll add that if people decide to destroy their cds/vinyls well they are in their own rights: it's their stuff and they can do what they want. And MM didn't handle the response appropriately.

DID YOU GUYS EVER HEARD ABOUT STOCKHOLM SYNDROME  i thought i was dumb before reading some people comments here lol
"oh it's useless to burn merch it's childish" "oh she didn't got raped look at melanie's wig" "people lie sometimes :)" "men and women get the same treatment" and the best (worse) comment is this one "i need proof bc i don't go with the flow"

I can't at all the people commenting on her insta saying "if she raped you then why did you post this image?" like that means shit?? Besides she said multiple times that after the incident and until recently she loved Mel and still considered her a friend before realising what she did.
    People are dumb af

I was afraid of this, her doing this to other people. Wearing down people for sex is not them consenting, I'm glad that these allegations might have stopped an eventual serial rapist. (if she isn't one already ofc)

Also my heart goes to the people in this thread who lived these atrocities. It's true that women freeze in the face of someone attacking them, from a young age we see women around us represented as passive and acted upon and that it's always possible for us to become victims so we are overflowed by fear and shame when it happens. Also people go numb and quiet to avoid the worst and it's common not to aknowledge it happened because it's difficult to process afterwards.

I think the “political” dimension within Lust for Life appears awkward because, let’s be honest, Lana isn’t as politically aware as she suggests she is. Her scope just sounds too juvenile. But there’s nothing wrong with that! It’s interesting to hear her perspective, but I think this could be a reason for the awkwardness maybe?

Awww thank you so much - that means a lot! Glad that my posts are relatable, I just say what I'm thinking with trying to be over top and cause drama like half the people here do haha

And I'd like to think the same thing. Despite the fact that there always seems to be some sort of drama or fighting on this forum, the vast majority of the time I see a lot of people who are really educated and socially aware and explain things very clearly which makes me happy. I think Lana has a certain air of sophistication about her (not to sound pretentious) in the sense that she doesn't get involved in petty drama with other celebs and she always tries to be honest and open about different topics that can be difficult for her to talk about, so maybe that is what attracts such great people.

(Or maybe we just have such a good moderation team that all the horrible people get banned haha)

So @ everyone else if I've been liking all your posts here too <3

Makes me proud that it could be Lana attracting more decent listeners (in general) than someone we used to know whom this thread is about

    P. S. Contolling our bodies doesn't have to mean pushing people off who are violating it. It is as simple as having the right to not be touched by people without our permission.

things aren't black and white. i'm very glad you clearly cannot relate to what timothy went through since no one should have to experience that, but it just is nowhere near as simple as you are trying to make it out to be. a lot of people posted some really good explanations to these same arguments a few pages back so I invite you to go read those

so if Hitler had put out a folk rock album it would be okay to jam out and support it since what he did in his own personal life (yes, even the most disgusting stuff like genocide!) has nothing to do with his professional work?

before anyone tries to cherry pick the vacuous argument that genocide > rape (but really, the magnitude of one person's horrible deeds is not grounds to erase another's), the point remains that any decent person should feel a moral obligation to do right by these victims and stop supporting this disgusting person's work, regardless of whatever opinion you may have of its quality. really, these kinds of reactions say a lot about how much people shrug off sexual assault
