I told y'all that she was strong and independent in this video! Finally choosing the right thing, leaving a lousy guy and not sticking with him anymore.

the love mv was beautiful. i dreamt once to see  my veranda at night with huge colourful fast moving planets by the horizon and i think whomever edited the video should have coloured the planets more to make them stand out and give the video more life but it's still the best and most accomplished video of the era. the cinematography actually tells a story with the way the video is headed and because it fits the song perfectly ...  and even the b&w was used wisely

i love that while she's showcasing all the drama about herself and her boyfriend the mv showcases another storyline in the back about imminent nuclear war. Or what looks like launching nuclear missiles. I wonder if this is the reason we're getting the video now but i'm probably wrong ...

He did clearly influence Lana's decision on which version to go with for the end result though.

He was consulted and the song is different as a result of seeing him. That's somewhat of a contribution

An interesting benchmark with which to view anything is nothing. So I can comfortably say the video is better than nothing as it still has some beauty and languor to it. Another interesting benchmark is to compare it to somebody else's video which might have a similar theme. I would nominate Green Light (Lorde). So yeah, Lorde performs the actual song rather nicely, but still nothing really happens. I really think it's the (honesty?) issue about BAR that makes people think it's her worst video, not the execution, per se. And about that, this reviewer makes an interesting point (but doesn't bring up the BAR hypothesis):

As for the meaning of the video, while the "record drop" line of the song seems relevant, given the song also says she didn't phone him (and the song is about regretting that?), I tend to an interpretation where the video's events just occurred inside her head to show her what would have happened if she had. The missile/space launch and Get Free reference ("never got to fly at night because they were caught up in the dance") aren't clear; however, the "Taking roads less traveled" comment on her 2nd WM teaser on her instagram makes me think (aka, imo) the video is intended as feminism-related.

As others do, I wish the Mariachi-like trumpeting music at the end were better attributed. It would be cool if that were part of a future song that we know nothing about. There may also be a pasodoble reference (though admittedly weak, so I'm stretching here), where the song ends and then the trumpeting begins --pasodoble is a kind of martial dancing patterned after a bullfight, and often used to signify a kind of war of sexes (at least according to a show I used to watch on TV).

i really really love how deliciously mature she looks in this video, already in Love she looked so voluptuous and wise in an unearthly way but the BAR WM mv has her looking like a godess

you go Lana, i really think that the grounds in which she stands rn allow her to pen more mature and heavy lyrics so, if Heroin, F, Love, Architecture, Yosemite and RBFY are the direction she's going for i'm all for it. Themes of how things are and how things should be. I hope she makes an EP to close her journey of LfL or makes a more ambitious personal project for LDR6. As far as the video goes, I'll wait if she announces another one or she works her way though a new thing. I see her as having a very independent artistical mind so, jumping through conclusions, she probably didn't like how her label interfered with her UV mv and the whole debacle about the production with Dan Auerbach. I'm projecting but, I see why she would have a lull in terms of visual artistry. Also reading all these 2011/2014 think-piece writers wannabe and their botched up analysis and criticism of Lana's projects I'd be angry in a "you don't deserve me and my work" kind of way. I'd make iphone videos as a FU statement tbh ... And Lana has been releasing a lot: even artists who have their songs written and composed for them don't produce as much every single year. She's great in my books, now more than ever and even the classical artists of the past who stood the test of time weren't on their A grade in all instances. Lana still stands out because people are still concerned about her past work, all her previous albums and even her leaked/unreleased work is relevant to this day and she's unique and cohesive enough to justify why a lot of new wave artists look up to her.

I don't know why I wrote a whole brick to say that I love lana so much, anyway i'm sure the best is yet to come and she looks damn fine in the video.

i still think she shouldn't have asked max martin for input regarding the lfl song if the original version was more touching and i would love to hear the more heavy version of 13 beaches with the horror themed strings. (and cherry too could have used more of that treatment, it has a fascinating creepy sound i would have liked to be exacerbated   )

Personally I liked the Love video because of it's positivity and I thought it somehow fit the tone of the song, but LFL was boring. The CGI scenes on the sign were cool but it would have been better if it were one of many scenes, not the only thing going on. Not really worth the time or money to create imo

so this guy found the job via a friend through facebook and it's his biggest gig yet (i'm sorry for him that the video had to be so MEH   wish this random guy the best tho) and she had him listen to a lot of unreleased/unleaked sounds. i'm looking at the internet and the french press seems quite warm towards this video given the circumstances with stuff like "lana del rey - an independent woman" i'm pretty sure journalists reacted positively towards coachella mainly because of the sweet sentiment behind it    hummm

so...like 3 far away scopes of a future city (which is just green screen and editing) and 5 seconds of a holograph screen and 6 seconds of a rocket is equal in cost to the various locations, flying cars and otherworldy cgi, taking place for 70% of the love video??? Sure, jan
if you find THAT boring, then hey..to each his own. But dont fool yourself by thinking that BAR didnt get cut. As for LFL, like i said it didnt get much cut, but it was still cheaper. One location. and only 4 actors (2 if you dont count the back up dancers). sure its full of cgi, but it's at least 30-50% easier to do than everything in the Love vid.
