I'm honestly just assuming they were friends/knew each other since Van worked for A&R + 5 points which Lizzy was signed to. Reeve isn't listed as an artist but he's in the pictures http://www.myspace.com/5pointsrecords

These are the Lizzy pics on Nick's myspace. They were also somewhere on his music site. http://www.myspace.com/athingortwo/photos/67907396#%7B%22ImageId%22%3A67907396%7D She looks so young here

    She's a 1million piece puzzle. It's all very confusing

Honestly, I saw pictures of her at a festival.. the one where Barrie was there with her, and the way she was touching her nose made me think cocaine.. and I was thinking about how alive she seemed onstage compared to before. Everyone I've talked to who has seen her live said she acted like she was 'on something'.. Also remember she oddly canceled some shows. (She coulda really just been sick) Ah, who knows, I hope not and I hope she's alright. If she did relapse, I could understand why she might wanna quit music

One last thing, I think 'Get Drunk' is about Reeve and Jimmy. They were good friends, have videos performing together, and Lana has been linked to both. Plus, Jimmy and Lana (allegedly) met in AA. Although, I don't know the timelines so I could be 1000% wrong.

there are so many but I can't remember a lot of them

Carmen- Buy her tonight, she's still shining

Radio- Lick me up and take me like a vitamin (I still say that idc)

Jump- Last I fucked them, last words before you went under again

And I did not realize she was saying bitches in Blue Jeans for the longest time

Someone on another site commented that Lana's lips may affect her pronunciation.. it's like a little quirk which can make her lyrics ambiguous (which I happen 2 love)

Also, not that it matters, but I think K was black. The way she speaks about skin being "golden brown" (although this could be a tan) in "America" and casting A$AP rocky in National Anthem.. I don't think it was for nothing. Again, it doesn't matter I just like to have a picture in my head and now it's of A$AP lol

Oh yeah and the golden grill stuff and hip hop references.. (I could be wrong cus white ppl do that too)

eminem is filth and worse than most mainstream rappers in terms of degradation of women in his lyrics. plus his flow is not that gr8. lana is too good for him. "if you don't like it then peel off, bitch, every last woman on earth i'd kill off, and I still wouldn't fuck you, slut" charminggggg

I'm pretty certain Priscilla had something done, even then. She did a lot of things to appease Elvis, he wanted her to look a certain way. I think they look similar, but mostly cause the makeup and the look is very attainable, if you are good w/ liquid liner    (Really, I think Marina could look like Priscilla cause her face is fuller, if she didn't have such bad makeup)

It's funny how she seems to try to resemble Priscilla, even wearing her name on her shirt in those candids of her outside the studio.

    Priscilla liked motorcycles, too

i'm 10000x too lazy to post examples, but tobi.com has dresses that look just like something lana would wear-and its 50% off your first order (and they always have 50% off sales- never pay full price on that website tbh)

IDK maybe its a real person, but I kind of think its a made up name, like one of those generic, classic 60s sitcom sort of names. Kind of like in Boarding School live- Come on, Billy, let's support our Boarding School. Or in Puppy Love- Promise I'll never see Arthur or Bobby

A man named Jonatan Johansson died from a skiing accident in Lake Placid in 2006 ~ Lake Placid is fairly small, I'm sure this was heavily talked about, possibly inspired by him?  Or Leonardo David who died in 1985, after being in a coma for 5 years following a ski fall in Lake Placid~ he died in Lana's birth year.  I remember seeing a FB post by Lana saying they used to ski/ go atving in Lake Placid. Possible that she googled her town and birth year for inspiration? Reaching?

just something 2 supplement the ~lana never actually knew jimmy~ conspiracy:

david kahne has this description under yayo on his site- "Noir trailer park escape to bright futures, on a stranger's motorcycle..."
Since David + Lana wrote the song together, it just makes me think that Lana had a crush on Jimmy (maybe she even knew him, but from afar- as a friend of Reeve's) and was dreaming of him whisking her away from her dark life, from drugs, and whatever else when she wrote the song, and used that fantasy as her influence. I mean this would kind of go along with the whimsicalness of 'jimmy gnecco.mp3' ~take me to the park ~take me out of this dark trailer park life, etc. And her posting it on his facebook may have just been in attempts to get his attention

idk does any of this make sense? lol

I made this quiz + posted it in a status a while back, but I figured since we've been kind of dry on LDR news we could all post our results and whatnot. So far 52% of the people that have taken this quiz have gotten Lana Del Rey, 30% May Jailer, and 18% Lizzy Grant.

I guess I should include this~ Fiona is nothing like Lana but she did stand up for her

    http://www.muumuse.com/2012/06/fiona-apple-talks-new-album-lana-del-rey-to-interview-magazine-and-releases-new-song-werewolf.html/

I should also say that Fiona really hates the Criminal video and didn't want that to be her big hit, so if that's all you know of her definitely look into her other stuff.  The record label wanted her to be more like Alanis Morrisette and after Tidal Fiona completely did what she wanted.. (therefore, Tidal is v different from her other albums) she didn't want her career to become something based on a corporation or something she didn't believe in, I suppose.  I mean, look at those gaps in between her albums.  She has so much control over her music..look at the titles of her albums- "When the Pawn" set the record for longest album title, with 90 words. (She even shot the cover art for 'Extraordinary Machine' and drew the cover, a self portrait, for 'The Idler Wheel') In 2005, Epic wasn't going to release Extraordinary Machine because there wasn't a hit song on it.. but it mysteriously leaked online and actually got radio play and they were pretty much forced to. She basically has a label as a means to get her work widely distributed but it seems like there is always some sort of problem w/ releases, like apparently they backed out of promotion w/ "Dull Tool" which was used in the movie This is 40

Anyway, I am sad that it will probably be years til we get more stuff from her, especially because of what just happened at the Louis Vuitton show, but quality over quantity.

Singer- songwriter Fiona Apple McAfee Maggart burst into the scene with her first commercial hit 'Criminal' in 1996. Her musical style is described as jazz/alternative rock.

"Her songs are not afraid to get ugly, painful, and even in the most musically accessible moments, there's a touch of dissonance to make everything slightly uncomfortable." - Complex Magazine

Over the course of 17 years, Fiona Apple has released only four albums:

Tidal (1996), When the Pawn... (1999), Extraordinary Machine (2005), and The Idler Wheel... (2012)

Although she is heavily regarded as a mysterious and reclusive person (she disappeared entirely from the entertainment scene for six years between her second and third albums), Fiona Apple is also known for her outspoken and unapologetic nature in her music and with the public.

"This world is bullshit. And you shouldn't model your life over what we think is cool and what we're wearing and what we're saying and everything. Go with yourself." - Fiona Apple, accepting a MTV award in 1997

For anyone who hasn't read it, I recommend reading her full Rolling Stone interview from 1998.  Even if you aren't a huge fan, it gives a lot of insight to Fiona's lyrics and complex personality.

(Trigger warning for anyone who chooses to read it)

You know how some people get angry and they write a letter and then they don't mail it just to get their emotions out? I think that Lana wrote songs instead of doing that, like as a way to release the negative energy.  I don't know that she was really "mad" at Gaga, I just think she was an easy target.  It seems like Lana had been working to be famous for a while. She had been on the scene with a shelved album and then all of a sudden Stefani blows up.  They had a lot of similarities, namely Bob Leone, who it seems like spent most of his time and energy on Stefani.  Lana was still playing in little bars when she heard Gaga on the radio. Maybe Lana felt like Gaga hadn't paid her dues or really earned it, or Lizzy felt like she deserved it more because she had more talent or something.  It does seem like a case of envy/ sad realization that her dream may not come into fruition..at least not the way she wants it to. I think of it sort of as a ~ Why doesn't everybody like me?~ song.  And it does seem to be the point where she 'sells out' and decides to try a different style of music and even create a new name "Lana Del Rey", as Gaga did. She realized she might not be able to make it as Lizzy Grant and as her ~legit~ self.  It certainly fits the time line. I really like this song, it's so sad and desperate. What'd God give me a plan for? He never helps me do it. | Sold my soul long ago, nothing left to choose. I'm tired of singing the blues. | How the fuck would you go switch it up and then replace me? I don’t get it, I’m so legit
