I know nothing, "I own nothing" It's been a long time since I studied copyright law. I basically understand the history and purposes of copyright law. But I can come up with better questions than answers, I fear :/ In particular, any changes brought about by the rise of the internet are changes about which I am woefully ignorant. (I learned a lot today just checking out wikipedia's article on fair use. But um, yeah, my instincts are good... ?) Actually, a practicing non-intellectual-property lawyer is probably a better person to ask than a non-practicing former-intellectual-property-law student. My non-expert guess is that each contributor owns his/her own contribution. So in EE's scenario 1, Monicker owns the song and EE owns the videotape. Yesterday I would have guessed that EE can't post it without Monicker's permission. Today I see that the law has evolved such that there's at least a recognized interest in posting stuff on YouTube. So today my answer is I don't know, but it might depend on whether your video's visual focus includes Monicker, or mainly involves EE's dog dancing in the foreground to Monicker's song... In the second scenario, I'm guessing that if Monicker failed to secure a release from EE ahead of time, he might be kinda outta luck if EE later decides to ask him to take down any video of the performance. Monicker and Antonia also raise good points. That is all :/

Sometimes taking responsibility for yourself means making your own choices and then dealing with the fallout. But that doesn't necessarily make the fallout justified or right. When we treat other people as objects for consumption, we lose some of our own humanity.

I don't think she is; she's said in interviews that she's actually happy. I think as a model her photographers ask for serious expressions. In candids she often looks happier. I think that would explain a lot, actually!

Oh, I just figured out what you're asking! That emoticon is from a video (on YouTube) of Lana interacting with some fans. It's the one where someone gives her a scrapbook. Wish I could remember more details, but I'm pretty sure someone's linked to it here on the forum somewhere.

I'm not holding my breath. Apparently Carey Mulligan can sing (e.g., "New York, New York" on the Shame soundtrack). But I'm still excited for some Lana-penned songs.

I like it (the Chuck theory) but I don't think she's talking to her sister; I think she's talking (in her mind) to her depressed lover who's "dying" in the sense of having given up on life. She's tried to pull him out of it, but now he's dragging her down with him, and she can't let him destroy her too. But you're right, it's vague enough that it lends itself to many interpretations. I guess we can take from it what we want.

Recently I dreamed I saw her live but I only got to meet Chuck and their mom... okay, it was still (In the dream I was So. Happy.)

Awhile back on her current Facebook account, Lana mentioned Lily Holbrook's "Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt." I finally listened to it, and it's really a gorgeous album! Holbrook is more overtly feminist imo, but "Make Them Wonder" really reminds me of Lana. ("Well they're all fucked up on the American dream / Who are they to call me obscene")

I love Lana so much, but for the longest time I didn't really have any desire to see her live. Then about a week ago I dreamed that I saw her live. I so want to see her live.
