  1. Does Lana have a better chance against Britney or Adele?
  2. I know... after that big build-up I thought he was going to turn out to be a serial killer or something... and then it was like, oh. He made out with another girl.
  3. I wish she'd redo Afraid. I love the lyrics but I don't know what's going on with that instrumental.
  4. What, so they had the locations booked already, and flew TS in to save a few bucks?
  5. I like the way these songs go together! Another great playlist What do you think about this order: 1. This is What Makes Us Girls 2. Children of the Bad Revolution 3. Boarding School 4. 6. HDB, I love your Methamphetamines playlist! (What version of Yayo is that? I'm using the NKF version for now, but the times are different.)

    Cassie

Congrats! I'll definitely check these out.
  9. All I have to say is, if you listen to Ween while watching Sitar's siggie dance, do NOT look into its eyeball.
  10. Yes, please keep "yesnod" and "smokes" and make the basic emoticons. (Wait, why did those work?)
  11. But that was when I thought Cola was about drugs. Hey, maybe she's talking about helping a guy get over an ex-wife? (I'm rambling now.)
  12. I don't know how you do it, Hunter, but this playlist has convinced me of the beauty of every last one of the new "Paradise" songs.
  13. Probably. It was recent.
  14. There was an interview where she said something about wanting to remind herself to stay young in her mind even as she ages.
  15. Could be a re-recording, like Hundred Dollar Bill?
  16. Oh. I think I interpreted your "ah" as a "darn." :haha:
  17. I've been assuming she meant Yayo as well. I think you prefer the first version, but not the demo? HDB first version = more upbeat = video version HDB "demo" = second version = more relaxed (revamped for the BTD sessions?)
  18. Yeah, huh? It all counts!!! Exactly I don't know... Grammys give more professional bragging rights, maybe, but I think this is still meaningful in its own way.
  19. I agree with James 19709 that "sister songs" is too strong a term. But I love the way you're exploring the connections. So excited to try out the new playlist! Wow... YEAH...
  20. Me too. I really like this theory. She combines different relationships in the same song so often, I don't think we need to attribute that line to Gnecco. Yeah. I was watching her old videos yesterday, and it almost seemed to me that she used to be more prone to social commentary. Pawn Shop Blues is the most obvious example of that, like almost hitting you over the head with it (the plight of small-time farmers and their families). But the ones like Diet Mtn Dew, Hey Lolita Hey, and Put Me in a Movie... I don't know, maybe she's just being really really naughty. But I'm definitely getting the vibe that she's still using the opportunity for social commentary... just not as obviously. Like she's learned to approach topics (domestic violence, sexual exploitation) obliquely, rather than head-on. (I could be reading into it. But I'm finding it very thought-provoking.)
