"Baby I'm a forlorn on fire, and I'm what you desire" instead of "four alarm fire"...

I thought forlorn worked because it's ~so Lana~ and I thought she was badass for making an adjective into a noun.

Bobby Womack, the legendary soul singer whose career spanned seven decades, died Friday at age 70. A representative for Womack's label XL Recordings confirmed the singer's death, but said the cause of death was currently unknown.

An unpleasant surprise that this happened. I, like most people I am assuming, are not entirely familiar with jazz & soul music, although I have listened to some before (even before I listened to Lana.) XL Recordings uploaded this song at the end of my truly tough freshman year, and this song brought me back to that special place where jazz/soul/R&B/blues makes a person analyze the beauty in this world. Unfortunately, I only found out about Bobby Womack through Lana's featured vocals. In case you didn't see, I even made my location "San Dayglo Reflection" when I recently got on Lanaboards! (San Diego really.) This song is unique for me b/c Womack sampled the drums off another great underrated/favorite artist known as "Captain Beefheart" (I discovered him on my own.) Also, with no hostility intended, I'm pretty sure that the "Rays" haven't heard this masterpiece of a song, but this song is the direction I'd love to see Lana delve into.Even the visual in the video reflects Lana's passion with metaphysics. May Bobby Womack rest in (and rock n' roll in) peace!

The song would be good without that god awful now-generic post-chorus EDM drop... I'm surprised she'd release something like this + was this the demo that was sent to Rihanna?

Love her voice & I enjoy HiiiJack, Julia, & Childs Play! Her singing with Chance is pretty cute & love their chemistry. I have to be in the mood for her.

@@Monicker sent me a link to this fantastic episode of "Popcast", a podcast produced by The New York Times' ArtsBeat culture blog. A discussion between Jon Pareles, the author of that great NYT review, and Ben Ratliff, the skeptical yet open-minded host, this is the most intelligent conversation I've heard about LDR in the media ever. Truly a must listen. Apart from being just a great podcast, another reason @@Monicker sent it to me is because I'd told him he'd probably think I was crazy, but the guitar intro of "Cruel World" reminds me in small ways of the intros to several different Beach Boys songs. He did think think I was crazy at first, so we were both incredibly amused when Jon Pareles backed me up! Anyway, @@Monicker says it better than I can so I'll let him introduce it:

this has been annoying me for ages, there was also the mural/graffiti promo thing that had lyrics to ultra and old money i think, and that had "filled with passion"

This is all so blown out of proportion already.
    Ridiculous.
  23. my ol man isa batman liked a post in a topic by hollywoodgirl in Lana answers Frances Bean Cobain
I think they both handled it very well, and it should be done now.

Frances didn't seem angry and wasn't lashing out. She just stated how she feels about it.

Lana was asked in a interview explicitly about cobain and amy, she responded that she admired their talents and personalities.
When asked about her own feelings, she was talking about dead. And again, I think Lana views dead different then most people.

I think in her replies she makes it clear that to her, it are almost 2 different topics.
