I’d be ok with an album trailer featuring one new snippet, like the HM one did with Freak. We haven’t heard very much of the album and one new snippet would hype me up (as if I needed it). We all know she hates Deluxe editions of her albums and I’m really ok with that, but some of you mentioned that due to COVID, she can’t tour and maybe a Deluxe released later on this year could help that « loss of revenue »?

Get Free is this magical ending song. That verse about rainbows I associate LFL with this weird period in someone’s life when they want to leave their old self destructive ways behind, but usually don’t completely succeed. Get Gree embodies that call, that urge to get into a more peaceful place. The way those last words are bursted... and to transition into NFR, where it’s not so much that she changed but accepted who she is and The Greatest is the perfect melancholy song without being « too much »: the guitars, her voice in the verses, that « end of the world » feeling... It’s in my top 5.

Joni is not my fave singer, but she is the original blueprint of the singer-songwriter of Laurel Canyon. NFR had many references to that type of singer-songwriter. She is a legend and has been going on for 40+ years. To have Lana’s cover of For Free finishing on notes sounding like Joni is as iconic as Lana covering Summertime after having covered Doin Time that samples it.

Lolll this is so funny, cause it’s true. Until release, those guys probably will be silent about it... but watch snippets surface in a couple of months. Unless they do keep quiet for a couple of years? I mean, some of us /them had Serene Queen for five years, some had the Good Life all those years, same with HM and UV outtakes... Maybw some are better at keeping secrets than others lol.

Mojo posted their review of Chemtrails, giving it a 4 out of 5. Their favorite song is Dance T’il We Die. It’s a bit of a continuity of NFR in the beginning, but having more of an introspective perspective and showdown Lana’s folkier side as it goes on. The last note of the album isn’t delivered by Lana but by Weyes and is very reminiscent of Joni herself. and in a Tweet, the chorus to TJF says WHF and my mind is finally at peace because we will finally hear the song Jack called « the shit »

I really don’t get the Jack hate here. True, many of his tracks are piano-based, and he is not as good with piano melodies as Rick, but his vocal arrangements and production overall make up for it. Besides, I never heard anyone complain that Fine China is piano-driven... (if she chooses to release anything country-ish or whatever her definition of it might be, she should include Fine China; the lyrics are her most « country / conservative / heartbreaking » ever and would fit that aesthetics).

For all of y’all that want the winter experience of COCC, move to Canada : on March 19, it won’t be spring yet haha! In March, we do begin to have some bursts of spring, but a couple of snowstorms are always around the corner. like many already said, COCC really doesn’t feel like a summer album. It really is a late fall or winter album. The title track gives me « noon or sunset of a still and unexpected warm day » vibes. LMLYLAW reminds me of fall sunsets or sunrise, with its guitar after the chorus. TJF is a sexy evening song when it’s dark outside but you want someone to have sex with. March 19 is a good choice for this album I guess. Summer would have been weird for its release.
