  1. When I read that, I imagined they would sound a bit like Season of the Witch, which I’m all for, but not on Chemtrails?!
  2. I’m torn between loving and hating deluxe editions. She hates them because it kinda changes the narrative of the album and she is one of the few artists nowadays whose albums always tell a story. BTD and UV’s stories do end with the last track of the standard edition; the only project where the bonus track doesn’t change the narrative is Paradise with Burning Desire. So I prefer no deluxe editions to her albums. However, we also got stellar tracks from Deluxe editions, like Lucky Ones, Black Beauty, Flipside and Is This Happiness... I’m not sure about the rejects from NFR and LFL though. She could keep them for an Unreleased collection for the next years, especially if they don’t fit the narrative of COCC.
  3. A single along with the preorder + art cover + tracklist reveals would be nice. She usually does have a preorder with a single along with it, except for NFR (but nothing made sense with the release : we had three “fan tracks”, the preorder and then a double release before the album). Usually, the lead is a already out and the preorder comes with a promo single, but I don’t see two singles before the album’s release.
  4. I honestly don’t know what would be the best strategy for this album, single or not I mean. I don’t follow other artists as carefully, but I wonder how the whole pandemic situation is changing promotion and releases of new records these days.
  5. I see the audiobook coming early in July only for Grammy noms. To me, Violet’s real release is Sept 28. So COCC’s release being Sept 5 makes more sense. And maybe this is why the audio forms of Violet will only be out in October, so the preorders for COCC will be out along with the release of the album on steaming?
  6. I’m one of her posts, there were a lot of pictures of her quarantine, one being a printscreen of her voice notes on her phone. One of them was called If This Is The End - I want a boyfriend and it was a 5 min plus voice note. It could turnout to be a new song.
  7. As soon as I saw those two posts, I got excited for the new album if some of that ends up on COCC. Plus I’m keeping in mind her breakup, her voice note for IF this is the end - I want a boyfriend... Breakup Lana is always the best one.
  8. If she goes for simple ballads on some songs, I’d prefer acoustic guitar to piano-only, tbh.
  9. I’d be behind the lyricism of Hope, with its honesty and vulnerability, but with bigger production.
  10. When I saw the flanel shirt, it brought a couple of questions, but not about cultural appropriation, but much more about: who the fuck wears flanel in summer, in California?!? Isn’t she sweating like a pig in that?
  11. anyways, it's great she took her time to make it perfect so i'm not mad Yeah exactly! The soft music behind her reading is an excellent idea and good continuity to Burnt Northon and the monologues of her MV.
  12. And let’s not forget it’s her we’re talking about : she has a tendency of posting things once and thinking this is crystal clear (like not saying Sylvia was renamed, posting a snippet of it saying that HIADTFAWLMTH-BIHI is out January 8 or 9, or dropping COCC’s Name, but having us wondering if it was the possible name of the audiobook, which it wasn’t). She already gave us the release date, so I guess she doesn’t see the point of adding anything up until the preorder. August is likely to start teasing the new album. She wanted a small release all along, wanting a « surprise drop ». With Violet out and her minimalist plans, it would be fitting to start teasing the project not very long before its release. I understand what you mean. I reread the posts that some of you put out and your points were valid. It’s true that LFL and NFR and even HM didn’t have much controversy to talk about, unlike the « I wish I was dead already » misquote of the UV era, for example. But I wonder what controversy you would her to sing about (it’s really a genuine question, because the way I see how she is living these days, I wonder what could be controversial enough for her to sing that wouldn’t feel dishonest or forced).
  13. I am very surprised we are getting this project before COCC. I never thought we’d see the day, in 2020.
  14. I agree with you. To me, there are hints of saying FU to everyone on NFR: fresh out of fucks forever, I fucked up but Jesus, can a girl just do the best she can? I don’t think she held back anything on NFR, she just didn’t have anything controversial to write about. And anyways, I wouldn’t want her to write about « false controversy for the sake of it ». It would feel forced. A bit like when Madonna became « woke » with American Life and it not her best album. I don’t want a whole song being about « Fuck you guys, I don’t take shit from no one. »
  15. She said It’s Scheduled to be out in March 2021. She first mentioned it in her first or second post about the « culture » I think. We don’t know if it’s just the physical book or the audiobook as well.
  16. BTD and Paradise don’t have any mis apps lyrically that I can recall. All of her other albums have some lines that aren’t perfect. But hey, you have your whole life to write your first album. Writing the other ones can be tricky. NFR does have some of the stories that I love the most though. HM had some of her strongest lyrics (The Blackest Day, Terrence, MTWBT...) and some that are a bit weaker like you mentioned (same with LFL). The Greatest is one of my top Lana songs and just the title of the new album gives me strong « The Greatest » vibes, so imagine how excited I am about it.
  17. We don’t have new info on that, except the codes on her website that were saying that we should be able to preorder COCC who knows when. Somewhere in August, maybe? The rest of July will probably be for Violet.
  18. I can’t wait to hear what the new album is about. The whole pandemic situation hasn’t been easy for me on a couple of levels, and I’m curious to hear if I’ll find some of those emotions on that album. I’m curious to read your thoughts on it as well
  19. Wow’! Bravo! I love this!!! I love how you expressed the vulnerability of this album that I do feel from listening to it. Well written and thoughtful! And you show that being vulnerable was probably the objective of NFR.
  20. Thank you, sweetie! You’re one of my fave members here I really enjoy reading your posts
  21. Yes, I read the posts and they do contain some valid points. I perhaps went too fast, made some shortcuts to express what I wanted, and probably didn’t stay on topic. I still don’t think she played it safe on NFR, lyrically speaking. Maybe she didn’t have anything to say that could be controversial. She sure didn’t feel angry during that period and some of her most controversial posts or songs seem to come from a lot of anger. But I don’t feel she held back anything on that album or wrote to please people. I’m curious for the lyrics on COCC, since she already told us some may not like what she says.
  22. It’s the first time I heard there were audiobooks on Spotify! Thanks for the info! Maybe it will be on Apple Music as well then (though maybe more on IBook).
  23. About the « safe » lyrics of NFR... each one of her albums is a chapter in her life. BTD is end of teenage, UV is early 20, HM is end of 20 to 30, LFL is her 30’s life crisis and NFR is mid-30. She always sang about what she was living at the moment and each of her records feels personal on that matter. You can’t expect her to sing about being a cocained Lolita who wants a daddy anymore because that’s not who she is anymore: she is in her 30s and made it, and she is coming closer in age being a mother than to act like a teenage. The themes she explored on UV and BTD are probably gone. On NFR, she is the same person she was on BTD, only grown up. She is still unapologetic, but maybe not that auto destructive anymore (and about her being a « good girl », go back and listen to Gramma on AKA: you have the essence of LDR: a good girl who feels too much and who is tempted to give in her to her demons: on NFR, she kinda remembers that and is back at that place). NFR is the album that screams: take me as I am and fuck off if you don’t like it, maybe more so than the ones that came before it. The album feels extremely sincere and I don’t think she toned down anything to please the crowd. The only album that don’t feel 100% « authentic » is LFL: Some songs are heartfelt (13 Beaches, In My Feelings, Heroin, Change, Get Free), while some others are written from « other perspectives » and don’t feel as « sincere », in a way (BPBP, GBA...). Also, she stated that NFR was inspired by singer-songwriter vibes from Laurel Canyon, and it’s exactly that: sincere, emotional, minimal production, incredible storytelling. You couldn’t have UV lyrics on that kind of production and call it « Laurel Canyon inspired ». I don’t know if that inspiration was intentional form day one or if it came along the way. I’m not sure what some here expect from her lyrics. To me, as long as the songs feel sincere and have beautiful imagery in the lyrics, they will be incredible LDR songs. I’m curious to hear what the last months brought to her lyricism, if we will feel her in a « raw » state of mind or not, especially knowing that the album was completed on a short period of time.
  24. I’d be surprised if it was there since it’s an audiobook. The links from her store are all fucked up.
