  1. This is actually incredibly upsetting. If they knew anything about Lana, they'd know that this type of attention is the farthest thing she'd want and I don't even know how they could call themselves fans with such disrespectful actions. I hope this restraining order will calm things down a bit, but I also hope that Lana feels safe sometime soon.
  2. Wow, these are really interesting reads thanks for talking about them @@brooklynbaby91. As for Lorde, I don't really know. She was 17, maybe even 16, when she made those comments about Lana and between then and now there has been a lot of discussion in the media about feminism, and the different types of feminism other than the mainstream, "women stick together," so I think she's acknowledging that there could be something more to Lana than what she said those few years ago.
  3. I was really surprised that High By the Beach was submitted for a nomination. I mean, yea it's catchy and all and the "you could be a bad motherfucker, but that don't make you a man" lyric is amazing, but it's probably the most superficial track on Honeymoon. I think they are *trying* to appeal to the Grammy voters, but they need to stop wasting their time. Aside from High By the Beach, I don't really know what song they could've nominated because usually singles are nominated, from what I remember from years past. Of course I'd love to see Lana be shown appreciation for her work, because I think she wants that deep down, but I don't think the Grammys are going to give that to her, other than a nomination.
  4. I love the necklace; I think it looks really nice and pretty, but it's grossly overpriced. $40??? I can *understand* (I don't like it) a shirt being $40 as it's a shirt and merchandise is always expensive and blah blah blah, but you can't just have $40 apparently-crappy necklace. I would've totally bought it had it been more reasonably priced.
  5. I'm going! I went in May,three days before my birthday , and I'm excited to see her again! I didn't go to Midtown, but once I found out that she did pretty much the same exact show except for one song I didn't really care that I wasn't there. I got a sitting seat because all of the general admission tickets were sold out, but I'm excited to be going again. I met some pretty cool people the first show and am hoping to meet some more cool people this time around.
  6. When you mention it, yea it kinda does. I guess it's the drums that make me think of it.
  7. Would the gold or silver be better for getting a chance to take a picture with her? Gold seems like it has more stuff, but it's behind GA and that's how you get close to Lana. Do you think she'd *pop in* to the pre-show Gold package thing? I don't want to talk about life with her, but a picture would be so great.
  8. To me, Ultraviolence was on a pretty wild ride from the beginning. It was completely reworked about 2 months before it was released, and had demos leak a year in advance and 6 months before an announcement, and there were the debacles of West Coast with the multiple versions (Rob Orton mix, Dan Auerbach mix etc.) AND the music video with the wrong version being posted to Vevo. After all of this, I would be fed up with this project too. Lana was so excited for this album, and I don't doubt that for one minute, but this did have a lot of mistakes in the beginning, whether it be the label's fault or not, and that would make an album quite frustrating. Also, the timing of the album release was quite awkward too. It was released while she was still touring Paradise so she hasn't had a UV tour yet, and I honestly don't see one until next summer. If she does do a tour next summer, then I don't want a new album because then she's continuing this weird schedule of releasing an album while touring for her last album. If she does do a tour next summer, then in a perfect world we would get something like Paradise where it's the same album, but added onto.
  9. Is there an alternative category? Because if there isn't, then pop is really their best bet.
  10. This was a better music video for West Coast than the actual video for West Coast.
  11. Sounds like it would've been more in the vain of Paradise. If so, then I'm glad she met Auerbach because now we have a different sound from Lana that she *seems* happy with.
  12. I'm seeing people saying that it's not too early to call Lana iconic, but I think they're entirely wrong. To be an icon, you have to represent something and longevity is apart of that. Of course Lana represents the "indie" or "hipster" scene now, but if in 5 years and you say Lana Del Rey and nobody knows what you're talking about, then she's not iconic. It doesn't matter how many albums you put out, because someone mentioned an artist putting out only one album, because if you make a statement with that one album and represent a generation or a part of a generation, then you're an icon. Because that's what an icon is, representing something, and the kind of icon that we're discussing is a pop culture icon so you have to define a generation, like Madonna, Micheal Jackson, Britney Spears. So, yes, it is too early to say whether or not Lana is an icon, because we don't know how she has impacted today's culture in the grand scheme of things.
  13. I do think that Lana has influenced pop culture greatly, but I also think it's a bit early to be calling her iconic.
  14. I don't remember where, but I remember Lana discussing how she's "nomadic" in a way, and I really understand and relate to that. I've never had one specific group of friends and moved around some when I was younger so I really understand that moving around/being around new people thing. Also her interest in death, not in a weird way, but in a "what happens when you're dead" way. I guess curiosity of the unknown. I also really relate to her independence and doing things on you're own. I love to do things alone like going to the movies or mall, but I also don't mind doing them with someone and I feel like Lana is the same way. Also her many references of unrequited love, unfortunately.
  15. To me, Without You is a very personal song and if there's a "perfect storm" I will cry while I listen/sing along to it. If she tears up when she sings it, then it's obviously very personal and something she holds very dear to her. I mean, "I can be your china doll, if you want to see me fall," and "I'm nothing Without You," are some pretty heavy stuff if you're thinking about how relationships really go. She's willing to give everything to this person, but they aren't together or he doesn't want to fully commit. Sorry I got so into it, but I just love this song so much.
  16. She looks so hot in the comic. I really do wish she would've stayed with her red hair, it was so pretty.
  17. I'm trying to convince my mom to take me, but I think she's kinda into it because a lot of artists she likes are performing. Pray 4 me!
  18. Touring can be very draining on a person, so I don't expect another tour in the near future. I would love a tour for Ultraviolence, though. From what we've heard, this album was made for live performances.
  19. I think she did it to all her shows after we got West Coast, because she performed this intro in Atlanta. It is honestly so beautiful and it made me really excited for Cruel World, so I was a little disappointed at first with Cruel World (I quickly got over it because it is a fantastic song). Maybe this is apart of the demo and Dan took it out when mixing? I don't know what songs he dabbled with, but just listening to the songs on the album and getting their feel from them, Cruel World seems like a song Dan mixed because it had those rock influences.
  20. iTunes put her under Alternative, so that's what I'm gonna put it under.
  21. Watch Lana leak it herself on Tumblr. Now we know why she made it..
  22. If UV does leak, I will only listen to Florida Kilos because that is really the only song I'm thirsting for (I'm dehydrated, really). I can ~maybe~ wait for the others (but don't hold my word against me if I don't) until the 12/13, I don't know the time difference between the US and Australia, because for me I don't think that would be considered a leak since it's "officially" out that day.
  23. I didn't really think of Florida Kilos, but then I heard the snippet and it has been on REPEAT. That kind of sound is right up my alley and I'm super excited to hear it in full.
  24. Maybe we'll get hints in the song when we're able to hear it. Fucked My Way to the Top has always been a song that has peaked my interest (for obvious reasons) but now it's even MORE interesting. Who is everybody that has dissed Lana? I think it would be easier if we looked at the list, looked at their criticism, and see if there has been similarities after that. Also, it doesn't have to be a style copying but it could be a music copying. Did Gaga ever diss Lana because I don't remember her. Unless it was never a public diss and it was one before each became successful.
