i honestly don't remember exactly when i started getting into lana, it was either late 2015 or early 2016, so i just selected 2016 lol

honestly i feel like gods and monsters could be one of her most complex and deepest songs, i feel like it could be interpreted in a lot of different ways and apply to a lot of concepts, sometimes i wonder if it's about hollywood, or just the general idea of somebody normal and pure entering into a place that's sordid and dark, which could be taken literally or metaphorically, i feel like there's a good amount of juxtaposition in the song as well, it's in the point of view of the angel who's in more of a dark, mischievous world, she favors that world, rather than seeking or favoring god, and it's interesting how the song title is a reference to jeff buckley's old band that was called "gods and monsters", and jeff buckley has a really good reputation, he's known as a great person, as well as a gentle soul, and the song also mentions jim morrison, who had more of a complicated reputation, he would act-out on stage, was addicted to drugs, and had a turbulent relationship.... stability vs. chaos... maybe i'm just rambling... but i think it's one of her most fascinating songs lyrically
