She said in an interview that she thinks it's wrong to try and look extremely beautiful. And when she sang "if I get a little prettier can I be your baby" live she added "fuck that". Also dyed her hair darker to be taken more seriously. "We are ugly but we have the music". I do think she either doesn't really care that much about appearance anymore or wants to make a clear statement that it is all about her art. And the fact that she takes "unflattering selfies"... she's never had a great sense of aesthetics, there are some bad pictures (bad hair, outfits) from even her Lizzy Grant days (it's a silly topic, but it's unfair to say it's a sign of an underlying problem).

I still think that the main reason she doesn't wanna make big releases and such is because of how people made fun of her for her SNL performance and not just because she is "lazy". I know people hate what ifs but I'm almost sure if that hadn't happend the story would be different and she would be motivated and even still go to TV to promote her stuff like she did in the beginning. She did want to be recognized for her artistry but she was basically bullyied and it affected her. Even her father said it depressed her how people from her own country which she loved disrespected her like that. We tend to think think celebrities should be thick skinned but let's face it, it must have been really hard. Not trying to victimise her because Lana is a strong woman in spite of that.

There's no way she can ruin West Coast live to me. However she decides to sing it (including her "bad" days), it sounds even more intense and exciting. That isn't the case with most of her songs.

I hope not to sound like a typical *triggered* person but when she released that teaser for Lust For Life, it kind of bothered me when she said "in these dark times" in allusion to Trump's election. As if the world revolved around the USA (it does in a way, but you get what I mean) and other people didn't already live in dark times in their "shithole countries". People who equate Trump becoming a president to the end of the world sound sheltered to me.

It's the first thing that comes to my mind. I like how casual they act around her but I bet they're dying inside because they are hanging out with LANA DEL REY. At the same time they look like the kind of people that would make fun of girls like her . But who knows, they might actually be really nice people.

No, I'm with you. I love it. I find it such an exciting album opener. Also Abel has a very sweet, romantic voice in it. I melt every time I watch them interacting like teenagers in the video . Not to mention the way she enunciates those first verses, making the song sound darker, which ties in with the "dark side of Hollywood" theme and adds to the idea of it being a place for occultism.

Ok, I agree guys but did you JUST realize Lana is not a very... morally inclined person? I mean, attending an ENVIRONMENTAL event with a FUR COAT. Singing "c'mon you know you like little girls" ? Romantizising Lolita. Doing a photoshoot with Terry Richardson. Saying proudly that she sleeps with married men and many other big or small things. I've learned since the beginning that it's either take it or leave it with her. The complaints are fair and understandable. But you can't act surprised.

Did everyone forget about How To Disappear, which has to be one of her best songs ever?

Does anyone get the impression that Chuck might be a little... pretentious? Lana's artistry seems to come more natural.

You know what, I thought the same thing. I was disappointed she didn't get more into the technical aspects, but then I realized it was a simple "react" video. If I wanted a more professional review, the title should have been more explicit like 'vocal coach analizes/breaks down Lana's performances"... stuff like that. But anyone who knows a little about music and praises Lana is welcome to me

I admire her concentration not to say "bitch".

Alongside the documentary that Chuck talked about when Lana and her family were in Latin America and an album in Spanish lol. But seriously, do you guys know what it's like to wait for your favourite bands to release an album very 5 years (if lucky). Be grateful Lana is quite a prolific artist.

Is it me or she's sounding even better lately? Like her voice is "sweeter". I missed these kind of performances. And she looks almost like she did in 2014. So gorgeous.
