  1. Why’d it take me this long to recognize the Marina Teen Idle reference in Candy Necklace? I knew it sounded familiar.
  2. What are the sides though? Because to me, there are five distinct sections that all have their own personality: The Grants / Did you know / Sweet A&W / Judah Smith / Candy Necklace / Jon Batiste Kinsugi / Fingertips / Paris, Texas Grandfather / Let the Light In / Margaret Fishtail / Peppers / Taco Truck x VB
  3. Though I can see how the last three tracks sound like bonus tracks and it can make perfect sense to end the album at Margaret, I think the album is perfect as is. The last three tracks add a lot of dynamism to the album. I think it would’ve been too heavy of an album without them even though Margaret is a cute happy ending. Also, having the last three songs feels like the album more strongly ties into A&W which seems like the defining song on the album. The album before Margaret feels like the first half of A&W while the last three tracks feel like the second half. I wouldn’t like the album as much without the last three tracks.
  4. Ok, I’m now ready to say this: Ocean Blvd is now my favorite album of all time. My previous favorite album of all time was in that spot for 7 years now, so I don’t say this lightly.
  5. Paris, Texas ALWAYS has me picturing this moment from the Video Games music video: I don’t even know if it’s the kind of visuals I’d want for a music video for Paris, Texas (because I mostly picture this album as black and white and dark), but this is just always what pops in my head when I hear it.
  6. Songs that have been on repeat today: Fishtail Taco Truck x VB Peppers Paris, Texas
  7. Lana yelling “Get high, drop acid, never die, not ever, Lake Placid!” was the perfect addition to the VB remix.
  8. I NEVER understood the uproar over this song.
  9. I kinda want to order the standard CD. I already have the Target CD, but I want the standard artwork and a booklet that has flippable pages. But everywhere I'd order from either is sold out or won't get here for a week which means it wouldn't even count for first week sales I don't think. Sigh, I miss when all big stores sold CDs. I had to drive 30 minutes just to get the Target CD.
  10. I think it’s rare that Lana makes a bad song, but I was thinking about this when watching Beth Therese’s reaction video and she talked about how piano-heavy the album was. I just think the piano ballads of COTCC and BB were more basic and stripped back, whereas these piano ballads have a lot of interesting production on top of them. I mean you can see that the melodies, lyrics, and vocals aren’t the problem when you see people gushing over the LMLYLAW demo. Pretty much the only difference is the production.
  11. Not to sound pretentious but this album has made all the music I normally listen to sound so basic and simplistic. It feels like it’s ruined other music for me, hopefully just temporarily.
  12. I think your posts were good because you were just sharing your opinion. I really struggled with liking COTCC and BB at first, so I know how it feels to be disappointed when you're a long-time fan and wanting to share your thoughts even while most are just being very positive. The problem comes in (I'm not talking about you) when people just come in here to shit on the album in bad faith. There's a difference between sharing your opinion and simply coming in here to trash Lana's work. I appreciate that you only did the former.
  13. I'm having a hard time ranking, so I'll just break down my thoughts a different way: A&W/Judah Smith Interlude/Candy Necklace/Jon Batiste Interlude My favorite part of the album and the most impressive imo. I understand why people are upset about Judah Smith being on the album, but after hearing the interlude, I'd be actually upset if the interlude wasn't included. The instrumental is stunning, the sermon and his performance of it is powerful and thought-provoking yet so dark, unsettling, and heavy. I really love it. Lana's laughing also kinda makes it sound like she's making fun of him which just adds to it all, especially after this is following A&W (American Whore). Fishtail/Peppers/Taco Truck x VB Fishtail has moved very rapidly up my mental ranking for the album, probably top 3. Peppers reminds me a lot of Lolita and Florida Kilos where I kinda love them and hate them at the same time. They all sound kind of jarring? I love Taco Truck x VB, just wish Taco Truck was a full fleshed out song that also led into the full 9 minute long remixed version of VB. Kintsugi/Fingertips/Paris, Texas Kintsugi and Fingertips are some of her most revealing lyrics. They're both beautiful and I really do like them a lot, but they feel underwhelming being between the previous 4 songs (A&W/JSI/Candy Necklace/JBI) and Paris, Texas. Paris, Texas is my favorite on the album. The Grants/Did you know/Sweet I love The Grants. It's a beautiful opener and feels unique to me. Though I love its lyrics, I overplayed Did you know and haven't really been ever able to get into it much sonically, but I don't dislike it. Sweet is really pretty, and I like it, but kinda forgettable. Grandfather/Let the Light In/Margaret My least favorite part of the album. Struggling to connect with it sonically. Margaret sounds so much like a Taylor Swift song that it ruins it a bit for me.
  14. I know the album is already long, but I would've absolutely love a full fleshed out version of Taco Truck that transitioned into a full remixed version of Venice Bitch
  15. I've never been able to get into Get Free and always skip it.
  16. What blows my mind is Lana said this album was "effortless" and "just straight vibing." Like imagine being this talented and brilliant to create an album this good and with this much depth and complexity and have it just feel like effortless vibing.
  17. She better not, but coincidentally, this is my favorite Lana album and The Life of Pablo is my favorite Kanye album.
