  1. idk if i really like the final result but the concept does appeal to a thought i often have about how many different lives i could've lived if i made different decisions and also wishing i could just try on different lifestyles, personas, etc. and be a completely different person for a day. though i think her intention was more to show the ways women have had to change themselves to gain their success and fame.
  2. I just gasped opening YouTube and seeing that the video is out and it's 11 minutes long. I was NOT expecting this.
  3. Lana has missed out on the 5 cents I would’ve made her for streaming Yes to Heaven like 10 times over the last 24 hours. For some reason it’s just vibing with me hard rn.
  4. Honestly, yes. I think it's because Kintsugi has more of a typical song structure, is more of a typical piano ballad, and just overall feels gentler and sweeter sonically if that makes sense? It makes it easier to tune out the lyrics and just enjoy the melody. On Fingertips, I think the unusual, wandering structure along with the vocals and strings just makes it harder to ignore and have it on in the background. It feels more demanding to me.
  5. I really think this album is meant to be listened to in whole, but if I'm being picky, I'm most likely to skip: Fingertips Grandfather Let the Light In Margaret I love Fingertips, but it can be draining to listen to if you're not prepared for it. Grandfather/LTLI/Margaret has always been my least favorite part of the album and it's kinda become more of a drag for me the more I listen to it. I don't dislike it, but I find myself more and more just wanting to get it over with so I can get to Fishtail/Peppers/Taco Truck.
  6. “It’s a beautiful life, remember that too, for me” is one of my favorite lines of the album. Having that be the last line of “The Grants” after all of the memories she lists out throughout the rest of the song is just devastating.
  7. I’m pretty sure Venice Bitch is my favorite song of all time from any artist ever. So that.
  8. https://soundcloud.com/wearebadfriends/alone a much more satisfying version of alone
  9. around 3:14 i refuse to believe it’s a sneeze. I think it’s just one of those “chhh” laughs under you do under breath.
  10. This song has been on repeat this week
  11. thinking about how risky and bold it was that Lana released West Coast as the first single after the BTD/Paradise/Y&B era. A complete change up in sound and a tempo change with the chorus becoming slower than the verses… and somehow it all works insanely well. That’s how I knew she wasn’t a one trick pony. It takes a serious artist to pull that off.
  12. Nope. I don't have a record player and am not really interested in one. Also vinyls are expensive. I already have a digital audiophile headphones setup that I use at home.
  13. According to my last.fm stats, Ocean Blvd has already become my most listened to album in the past year after only 3 weeks since its release.
  14. I promise I’m not throwing shade, looking down on anyone, saying my taste is better or more sophisticated than anyone. I seriously meant none of my comment to be hurtful or snobby at all though I may have failed at that. I do understand the album is very slow. It’s not the one I’m going to put on in the background when friends and family are around. Doin Time and Summertime Sadness will be the songs played then. Songs like the title track, Sweet, Kintsugi, Fingertips are not my usual favorite type of Lana song or song in general at all. I didn’t even care for the title track much when it was released. But her songwriting on those songs is just unbelievable, especially listened to in the context of the rest of the album. I’m just saying that this album is feels like Lana has put so much detail, thought, and of herself in it. It feels like such an expansion into who Lana is and such a mix of styles from all her previous albums that I feel like fans are missing out if they aren’t giving it a chance and diving in (because it can be slow and depressing and hard to appreciate right away).
  15. I mean this in the nicest and least pretentious possible: I feel sad for people who don’t vibe with this album and don’t consider it her best work. It’s one of the best albums of all time and my personal favorite album of all time. I’ve never seen her songwriting so strong or so personal, so creative (and lord knows she’s always been incredibly creative). This feels like the most Lana album we’ve ever gotten and the most of Lana we’ve ever been given. I understand people have different music tastes and have different experiences and personal ties to certain albums or music. But I really don’t understand how, if you’re a true Lana fan, you don’t like this album or don’t consider it one of her best. I NEVER thought she’d be able to top NFR or her other albums, but this feels almost like it’s in a different realm for me. And that’s not me knocking on any of her past albums because I think just as highly of them as I ever have - it’s more of a testament to how highly I think of this album.
  16. Just related to my own personal stuff around the time of its release
  17. These are mostly personal associations for me: AKA - summer, midwest and southern USA, corn fields and plains, gas stations, motels Born To Die - summer, swimming pool, Fourth of July, summer nights Paradise - winter, dark, cold, depressing Ultraviolence - summer, lake, hot, humid Honeymoon - September at dusk and early nighttime, cool nighttime weather, driving at night on peaceful roads with windows down Lust For Life - parking lots, politics, my ex, specifically summer 2017 since I listened to it the most then and that summer was weird and unique for me anyways NFR - late summer, evening into sunset into dusk into dark, golden plains with sun still shining but dark gray storm clouds looming on the horizon, boats, the beach Chemtrails - autumn, fog, mist, saloons, cottages, Midwest gothic aesthetic, also the pandemic right before we got vaccines Blue Banisters - autumn into winter Ocean Blvd - black and white, cloudy, rainy, religion, loss, family, heaven This made me notice the the albums that I have the least distinct things associated with them (Paradise, LFL, Blue Banisters) are also my least favorite albums. I wonder if it’s because I listen to them the least that I have less things to associate them with or if I like them less because I don’t have things to associate them with. Interesting.
  18. I have a long drive today with my fiancé so you know what that means: I’m going to make him listen to Ocean Blvd
  19. Don’t worry I only drink like once a week. I just have now had three weekends in a row of enjoying this album with some drinks
