What ever happened to Lana and Jamie Kings friendship???

It's quite obvious that UV was a personal project for her. I definitely think she used it as a way to vent and probably cope with her failing relationship. It's obvious her label didn't like it, too. I honestly think she's abandoning UV so fast because she wants to move on with that part of her life. I think she's just ready to abandon it and write songs about how happy she is now with her lil Italian boyfriend!

I don't know, I think you are/were overreacting a bit. I went back and re-read and there was plenty of speculation on how Mark being a producer would affect the sound/would the hip hop beats come back, how we hoped she had moved on to a different place lyrically, and even some people talking about how they hoped she'd find her vocals. There was some talk of image, but no more than any of the other parts of the album and even the people talking about it knew it was a little silly. You kind of made it sound like this thread was pages and pages about her clothes/hair/makeup and it really isn't. Most people care about the musical content of the songs; if they didn't they wouldn't be here because if we cared about "the package" alone we all would have left when UV didn't pan out.
 
It's also not really fair because we don't have any lyrics to dissect and we can't talk about the cultural impact because there is nothing to talk about. Sure, you could with BTD because it was already out when the forum was made. I think the deep-thought stuff will come when the album gets here, because that is what happened with UV and I'm assuming Paradise (I wasn't on here when it was released). But to criticize people for not being analytical about an album that we only know the title and two song titles to is probably a little much. That leaves us with just being able to speculate about things and I don't think it's wrong to talk about what we hope the album will sound like (or what we don' want) or any of that.
 
Sorry, please don't take it personally, I doubt you meant anything rude to anyone and did make some good points that might be applicable elsewhere, but you came across to me as slightly condescending to the people posting here and I just didn't think it was fair. 

I'm here for a deluxe 5CD/2DVD box set with all the demos and outtakes and unreleased LG-era songs plus all existing footage that tie up everything once and for all. Come on Lana, do it like Nirvana, only bigger & better.

Heath did great with tropico, old money, but I don't think Lana should continue to work so closely with him anymore. I think his piano/orchestra material is cringe worthy at times, especially the opening of I Can Fly. She should stick with more rock and roll producers and writers, I feel like her cinematic vision is supported by Heath and her vision as an artist outside of film is better suited writing songs with Nowles, Stranathan, Auerbach!!!!!

as much as both Lana and Auerbach expressed mutual admiration for each other's work and effort in making UV I don't foresee her working with him again. The scheduling to finish the album was really a stroke of luck imo, it wouldn't have happened if they weren't in the same place and I don't think she would've actively sought him otherwise. 

Nowels produced I Can Fly. I think that's why it wasn't as smooth as the strings in Big Eyes. I agree with you, it's solid, but the reverb irks me sometimes lol

And it's not that we don't want promo. Fuck yea I want a video from every song on the album and a bunch of concerts but she's not into that and it sucks, but to call UV a disappointment is a shitty thing to say. Lana needed to do that shit w btd and now she doesn't have to!

Florida Kilos is very overrated, imo it's one of the lowest points (if not the lowest on the album) even tho it's still good just like the rest of the album was amazing

Her vocals on UV are really great. Yes they're reverbed but that adds a dreamy and psychedelic effect to it. It's like you've never heard anything outside of pop music?

Lana writes and releases. I think it was obvious that the music and production was 50/50 it UV seems more natural lana. Like she's sticking by her statement of loving to write and put her story out there. I don't think she feels the need to make more of it, because tbh UV is iconic and a god of an album!
