Her voice puzzles me ... Firstly it has so many colors and texture, she can sound girlish, then deep and sulky, sometimes drunk ... The BTD vocals sometimes sound "chipmunked" but it could be just one of her voice texture ... There's been some kind of change, definitely. There might have been some vocal training, why not, every singer should welcome those type of training, I think even Whitney Houston did it and we all know what she could do (I would feel awkward in the place of the vocal coach haha). Anyway, she could have had some vocal coaching but also maybe some training on how to feel better on stage. Because stress, stage fright etc... Deeply affect your voice. I like to sing but in my basement, where nobody hears me, as soon as I'm supposed to sing in front of even one friend, my voice becomes thin and shy. So imagine being in front of a live audience and being broadcasted on TV for one of your "first" live shows as LDR, having to defend your brand. The pressure must have been immense. Now that I think of it, I seem to remember that she once talked about the performance in an interview and that she said someone coached her afterwards ... Couldn't remember the paper it was in ...

I agree with pretty much everything you wrote !! I don't know if she wasn't really inspired for her lyrics (I feel it's pretty much a step back from her previous work but that doesn't necessarily mean it's less inspired). However, she did say, as you wrote, that she felt her muse was being fickle and stuff .. It's no secret, I'm a hardcore BTD-Paradise fan, because of the themes, the production (yes, there I said ) and the visuals ... It was a complete and strong package for me, and I was sold. I feel that she got so hurt by the backlash she received that she thought "Ok they think I'm fake.." and so she went for a more "indie, rockish, underground" sound to be more "real" (Deliberately or not, who knows). I think she's always been inspired by rockers but she isn't one. I think West Coast and Brooklyn Baby are two standouts of the album. Ultraviolence was what I wanted to hear, it has that "Paradise" sound, imo. Old Money is beautiful. Florida Kilos is a great tune, but she didn't include it in the original tracklist so yeah. But I love it, nonetheless ! The rest is filled with songs I never listen to anymore or very rarely ... Whereas I still listen to BTD/P daily almost in their entirety. But that's just personal taste. I also agree with you on the visuals. To me, Lana is a singer AND a music video creator, but she didn't show it during this era yet. If she goes back to BTD/P, AKA, or Unreleased type songs, or if she goes any another route for that matter, I think I'll like the album more, thinking it was sort of an experiment.

I'm actually surprised to see Nicki Minaj at number 1.. No shade here, just didn't know that album had had so much success !

Slay ! Love it ! One of my favorite albums of all time, i can listen to it from track one to track 15, without skipping anything (which ils a first for me)

Yeah I'm glad she turns to fans instead of saying stuff like "I was crying because they were all wanting me to sing and I didn't know what to do with my life" (me badly reporting her words) I also loved the dresses and I'm sure she did too, I think she assiciates the BTD look with misjudgement... One can hardly blâme her with what was said about her but still..

I'd love that but that Line makes me wonder : "When I first got on stage—four years ago—I felt like what I had to do was put a dress on and be presentable in some way.”

I'm sorry but did we watch the Same video ? She ate an ORANGE, what more do you hungry wolves want ? Geeez... Haha jk I'm very disapointed, i thought the trailer was good but this is bad. There's a good idea, in it, but she didn't go far enough with it. To begin with she should have filmed at least 2 more sequences to give the MV more flow. What was that horrible close up on her wet mouth while she was "hauntily" eating her orange ?? And it's a detail but I don't like seing that orange plastic thing (from local works I présume) behind her when she steps in the chapel.. The butterflies cameo was good though lol. The coulors were nice, the shadow effect hiver by her veil, though not groundbreaking, was nice as well, the bouquet has a nice romantic quality, but... How can LANA DEL REY, the Queen of MV give us THAT ? After BTD, BJ, SS, VG, NA, Carmen, Ride, Tropico, even SOC .......... I don't get it. This only reinforces my longing for BTD/Paradise ... Oh well, on to the next one !

Commercial no but BTD, BJ, Ride were really stunning videos, without 8mm effects.. Her videos have lacked something this era si far, imo, but that's personal and it's no secret I'm a BTD era fan.. However like I said I'm really looking forward to this !

I never saw that DMD video, thanks a lot, she does quite a nice job there ! And the DP performance is practically flawless and as you all say ... Her eyes ... I love DP, and how can anybody resist the "Oh oh oh oh - Ah ah ah ah" part ? ^^

How did they do it ? Cause I always felt her voice is "higher" on the record than live. Especially on BJ.. The way she sings the first few lines live are way deeper than the album version ..
