I don't understand this odd lyrics debate and I feel like it's a trick somehow. I'm confused and scared. PS it's OBVIOUSLY BLUE LINES AND BLACK SKIN

Plays virtually the same setlist for years. Gets criticized by fans for boring predictability. Finally shakes things up by varying her setlist. Gets criticized by fans for unpredictability. -
"Honeymoon" Song/Video Preview (UPDATE: 2nd Snippet)
evilentity replied to Sitar's topic in New Releases
Couldn't disagree with this more (although admittedly "Guns and Roses" is terrible despite "layered vocals"). But OMG at you posting again. -
Keep hoping. You and I have always agreed it's "chica"/"chick-a" (or however you choose to spell it), but I still think it's "cola lime", not "cola-la". The rhyme scheme on the pre-chorus is AAABBB. It's gotta be a word with a long 'I' vowel sound to rhyme with "time" and "side". That syllable isn't super distinct on either the studio or live version, but I don't hear anything in either that dissuades me from thinking it's "lime". Yeah, she definitely doesn't say "palms" in the live version. She might be mistakenly repeating "white lines". Though I'm beginning to think this person was right: No, you're not the only one hearing that. On the live version it sounds even more like "lungs" than "lines". When I listen to the studio recording I'm not completely sure what consonant sounds I'm hearing at the beginning and end of that syllable, but the vowel sound doesn't like a long 'I'. It sounds more schwa-like, which fits "lungs". "White lungs", as in you snorted so much cocaine your lungs turned white.

I'm not very good yet. I just started playing bass and taking lessons the beginning of this year. Playing guitar or bass was something I'd always regretted not starting when I was younger, but I finally decided it's never too late to start. Now I'm just waiting for this to come in:

LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
evilentity replied to Sitar's topic in Lana Thoughts
Yeah. These days I'm skeptical that K (or any of the criminal boyfriend types in her songs) is an actual person. My current working theory is that K stands for Kurt Cobain and that she has this sort of imagined fantasy life with him that borrows heavily from books, television, and film, almost her own personal mythology. So a lot of the details wouldn't necessarily fit with Kurt Cobain's actual life. That's my current working theory, but it's not anything I'm all that confident in. -

If all else fails, sound activated recording in Audacity on Windows works for anything you can get to play.

LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
evilentity replied to Sitar's topic in Lana Thoughts
I've gradually come around to this position, but this theory is interesting: I've been meaning to watch this. It's been on my queue for awhile. I'll be curious to see how well it fits. It could fit with this general theory of mine about her "autobiographical" songwriting: On a coincidental note I'm probably going to visit the Badlands again this summer. -
Interview: Rick Nowels talks about Lana Del Rey
evilentity replied to BENTLEY's topic in New Interviews
Oooh, another song's producer confirmed. I've always associated these two songs off BTD... sonically. LOL. Probably because they're two of the sappiest, cheesiest songs on it. And not intentionally like "Lucky Ones". -
Whoops! I've removed the password protection. They should work now.

Actually I'm working on a follow-up covers-themed podcast since there are now many more than we knew of at the time.
-
Here's a covers-themed podcast I put together for LanaDelReydio that aired December 15, 2012 that discussed all the known covers she had performed up until that time.

Not true. She lied about it herself in interviews on at least two occasions.

Here's the January 2012 BBC article saying "Her left hand is tattooed with a capital letter 'M' for her grandmother, Madeleine [sic]". But in a status update today, @ flagged this 2011 i-D Magazine interview where she said the 'M' stood for "Magic, 'cos I need it [laughs]". I've always been skeptical of the grandmother explanation from day one. It always struck me as the kind of post hoc explanation someone might concoct for a tattoo they regret or for which they're embarrassed about the real original inspiration. That "Gramma" may be about her other grandmother and she once claimed it stood for "Magic" do nothing to lessen my skepticism that we're getting the real story here. Like the OP, my pet theory had long been that it stood for Mike Mizrahi. Until I saw this: This was briefly the avatar for the YouTube account that originally posted "Let My Hair Down". (Receipts here and here. Note: Alex DeLarge is not my real name.) This account apparently belongs to Adam Tagliamonte, a.k.a "Tags", from Lizzy Grant and the Phenomena. This suggests the stylized 'M' symbol may predate her relationship with Mizrahi. Unfortunately, Tags was not that helpful when I asked him some questions, including about the symbol's significance. Supposedly, those recording sessions that leaked back in January came from Tags. If whoever got those from him hasn't burned their bridges with him in the course of them leaking it'd be cool if they could try to ask him about this. Until then the magic 'M' remains a mystery...

It's very possible Charli has more tracks than Lana, but your certainty and reasoning for it seem a little shaky to me. Charli's prolific, but she's what... not even 23 according to Wikipedia? Lana started later at 18, but she's (infamously) almost 30. She's been making music longer. You're also assuming there aren't a whole bunch of Lana songs we don't know about.

Better than Tropico tbh

Yeah, it's not working for me anymore either. She's probably been dropped from the New York voter rolls since she hasn't lived there for some time.

Every Man Gets His Wish.mp3 She totally telegraphed it tho: Not Lana, but this is a great cover of that. (Just try not to think of the fact that her dad is Deuce Bigalow.)
