  1. Boy, it's late, walk me home, put your hand in mine At the gates, stop and say, "Be my valentine." You are by far the brightest star I've ever seen and I never dreamed I'd be so happy that I could die You used to say that I was beautiful like Cleopatra But you the king too, so I would say it back at ya I'd flip my hair and make you stare and put my makeup on And make up stories 'bout my life and put on very cherry balm And even then I knew that we were something serious That you would dominate my thoughts like radio to Sirius It's you in the hall like hello, hello Up against the wall like let's go, let's go Let me take you out of this town Let me do it right now, baby Dancing 'til the dawn, staying forever young Let's get out of this place 'Cause you're starting to waste within this teenage wasteland You will never see my face If you don't get me out of this place now, baby, I'm not crazy I'm leaving, are you coming with me? If you're lonely, baby, hold me You're my only one Watching television, kiss until we see the sun So far we are safe in the dark And I never dreamed that I'd be the queen And I'd be so happy that I could die You used to call yourself the don and call me queen Diana You always make me blush and say "Shut up boy, you're bananas" You pull my hair and push me down and chase [me make me run?] You played me Biggie Smalls and then my first Nirvana song So even though when no one's friends we're really serious I knew you loved me by the way you looked in second period It's you in the hall like hello, hello Up against the wall like let's go, let's go Let me take you out of this town Let me do it right now, baby Dancing 'til the dawn, staying forever young Let's get out of this place 'Cause you're starting to waste within this teenage wasteland You will never see my face If you don't get me out of this place now, baby, I'm not crazy I'm leaving, are you coming with me? I know that they say that all I want is to have fun And get away for rainy days I know that they think I've come undone, but I'm in love I wannna run, run, run away I'm leaving, are you coming with me? Let me take you out of this town Let me do it right now, baby Dancing 'til the dawn, staying forever young Let's get out of this place 'Cause you're starting to waste within this teenage wasteland You will never see my face If you don't get me out of this place now, baby, I'm not crazy I'm leaving, are you coming with me?
  2. If you mean Chris Seefried the co-writer, I already tried asking him to confirm the "vodka Pepsi" line on this recording of the song. No response.
  3. This has nothing to do with the OP, but as a massive Tool fan, I can't let all this talk of the application of the golden ratio to music, the Melvins, and math rock go without mentioning them. (Aside from influencing, being friends with, and opening for Tool, the Melvins and Tool also collaborated on a song called "Divorced" off the Melvins' album Crybaby.) The time signature changes and number of syllables in each line in the lyrics of the title track off Tool's album "Lateralus" and some of the lyrical content on the album are related to the Fibonacci sequence/Fibonacci spiral and the golden ratio/golden spiral. Now that litewave has joined the forum, if he writes an esoteric explanation of the music of Tool my life will be complete.
  4. According to the BMI listing, the company that published "Boarding School" is called Denim Blue Notes and was presumably owned by co-writer Chris Seefried and named after his song " ". But that could just be coincidence with the "blue denim" and "blue jeans" lyrics. OMG. I hadn't put that together with this interview. Yes, Mizrahi is a Jewish last name. In fact, there is an entire community of Jews called Mizrahi Jews.
  5. Yes! I'd had this same thought. Great minds and all. Actually, I've thought this about a lot of her professionally produced videos-- that the treatment for the music video should go with a different song in her catalog.
  6. I need receipts, Lana. :imbeingsarcasticbitch2: Um, ears and common sense confirm that it's "Indian reservations". #CONDESCENDINGASSHOLEPOST
  7. Marijuana is not a drug... (WARNING: Opening this spoiler could ruin your childhood memories of Danny Tanner.) #LEGALIZEIT
  8. Yes, I have. But I've been right more times than I've been wrong. I'm nearly certain it's "beat ya" and completely certain "beat ya" is at least closer to the correct lyrics than "freakshow".
  9. Shit. I was hoping we'd be able to see the DOB.
  10. Sorry, but it's definitely "beat ya".
  11. I don't care that Lana smokes. But smoking at a gas station? That's just fucking irresponsible. :imbeingsarcasticbitch2:
  12. Ha! Such a Monicker thing to say. I love it. I agree.
  13. Moy, might I suggest you enter the Lanaween costume contest dressed as Indian Lana from the "Ride" video?
  14. This seems germane to quote here: Poor Sitar. I feel sorry for what has become of his beautiful thread.
  15. This reminds me of how I used to tease my slightly racist boss that his daughter was gonna run off with a black biker when she came of age. Ah, good times back when I was a carnie. (And no I don't have small hands or smell like cabbage.) In that parallel universe, the FBI are still looking for Sky Ferreira because she stole it from him.
  16. I'm shocked. Shocked, I say. This all started here. So ironic you mention "Boarding School" though. I'll be giving a lecture partially about that on the forum in the near future. I don't think we'll ever top that thread, but yes, we do need this award. Perhaps we can add it to the Contests section along with MOTW: The PinupGirls Award for Most Ignorant Post Made Regarding Race/Culture of the Week.
  17. Perhaps a cropped version of the animated gif of her falling off a cliff in the "Summertime Sadness" video?
  18. Another monologue? Personally, I found her first monologue in the "National Anthem" video a bit cheesy and self-indulgent. This is just too much. #unpopularopinion
  19. Someone needs to explain to Moy the Yankovic Rule: The only culture you may stereotypically depict in a music video is the Amish. Because they'll never see it anyway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOfZLb33uCg
  20. I suspect this won't be the last meth song we hear from Lana. But where is the YouTube video? What is it suspended from? A magic cloud or Auto-Tuned Loon? I'm very happy with you. You asked a real, substantive question that actually had a chance in hell of being answered. Yes, "Yayo" is like a timeless jazz standard. I can't imagine how she didn't like how it turned out originally. (Aside from her taking a breath in the middle of the word tattoo, it's perfect.) And from what we've heard of the re-recorded version, I can't imagine how she could like how it turned out any better. But I'm withholding judgement until I hear it in full. Great essay. Over double the required length. However, I'm taking points off due to the lack of pictures, the missing YouTube video, and your failure to properly explain what the tire swing is suspended from. A-

Was that going to be your Lanaween costume idea? Remember students, your Lanaween costumes must be related to Lana or the forum in some way. Class dismissed.
