I'm dying at her choosing Venice Bitch as the single, naming the album Norman Fucking Rockwell, & all these fan breakdowns. My unique queen. Never stop.

I love this weird bitch. And the fan breakdowns are iconic. Buckle me up, Lana - I'm with you forever & so ready for this era. -
Of course not. For every good comment here, there's an unconfirmed one you shouldn't listen to.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but I think if anyone can assist her in making a 10 minute sprawling epic, it'd be Jack Antonoff. -
Lana track that had you hooked?
Poor Stacy replied to Make me your Dream Life's topic in Lana Thoughts
I was intrigued by Video Games, into Kinda Outta Luck & Born To Die, but once Off to the Races premiered on iTunes, I was officially blown away. -
The Other Woman, mainly because I don't like the production on it. Body Electric. I never find myself wanting to listen to it.

I highly doubt Lana has used heroin. Heroin, the song, to me seems focused around friends or a lover addicted to it... & maybe how she believes her personal demons are similar to, or connected with drug addiction, but "she'd be lying if she said she wasn't sick of it." Hence, the sequencing leading into Change. I believe weed, crystal meth, & probably coke. She probably had a problem with alcohol. Do I think it's ever been a serious issue? I'm not sure. Alcohol, probably, but as for the rest... I think Lana's too much of a control freak.

This one seems to be a hard one to crack. Nice to get a super intriguing, storytelling deep cut from Lana.

Lust For Life - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll

My favorite song keeps changing! Every song on the album is beautiful & worthy of being there, even if I feel like White Mustang might be least necessary (& even then, it's too short to even worry about). -
This is the album seller of the bunch. Stevie sounds incredible on this. Not sure why Lana's voice is so muffled-sounding in comparison. Great song.

I think I've nailed the complete, correct lyrics:

What Do Each of Lana's Albums Mean to You?
Poor Stacy replied to Make me your Dream Life's topic in Lana Thoughts
Born to Die reminds me of being in my last couple years of college & having big dreams for the future. I was yet to fall in love for the first time, so it felt like the beginning of my life, I suppose. I'd recently moved to a big city with no family nearby, & Born To Die felt like a fur-coat-security-blanket. I've always loved the orchestral elements -- the album's always felt very lush, bold, romantic, clean, & driven. There's an energy to this album that takes me back to memories of a new, naive time in my life. Paradise doesn't leave much of an impact on me anymore. I had just entered my first relationship at the time & was very preoccupied with that. Ride was an important song to me when it was released (& still is, though I don't revisit it as often as I should). Bel Air is the one song I listen to regularly. I swear, sometimes it haunts me. I think of the melody & lyrics all the time. One of my all time favorite Lana songs. This is probably my least favorite Lana release overall, though. Ultraviolence arrived at a time when I was trying to get over my first relationship crumbling. I had graduated college but had to move home because it took me a while to find a job. At the time West Coast was released, I landed a job with a tech company & was sent to California for a month for training. I lived out of a hotel, slowly made a few new friends from my job, & blasted West Coast daily while I drove my rental car on the desert-esque roads. I remember feeling really depressed & isolated at the time, yet faithful that things might just work out. Still, Ultraviolence helped me purge a lot of those dark feelings I was still clinging to. It's not an album I can listen to every day anymore, but it means a lot to me. Honeymoon is actually a really special album for me. I switched jobs between the release of UV & HM. Before Honeymoon came out, I moved back downtown, in the same city where I'd met my first love. I rented a condo from an older man in a large building. I had a corner unit that was really quiet, overlooking a swimming pool from 7 stories up, with partial views of the city. During that time, I remember feeling really reserved. I was making good money, but I wasn't in the mood to date or talk to many people. I remember sitting on the carpeted floor, looking out the window into the city, just silently listening to Honeymoon. I would go on walks at night or lay out on the building rooftop listening to Honeymoon or having the songs stuck in my head, just living a quiet life -- one that I perhaps was dreaming of during Born To Die, but still feeling very alone, perhaps a little melancholy, but also sort of being content with that. I listen to Honeymoon regularly still, & it's a mood album for me. Whenever I'm feeling very internal, dreamy, or quiet -- this is always the album I escape to, along with Julia Holter's Have You In My Wilderness. Lust For Life is coming at a strange time in my life. I've become more of a social butterfly -- I have quite a few friends I enjoy, & I'm now familiar with the stability I've built for myself. That said, I can't help but feel a bit dissatisfied. I feel like there's something more out there for me. I'm still single. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I want. Like Lana, I can't help but feel a bit mixed up. I'm not exactly sure what Lust For Life means as an album for me yet, either. I just know I love it. -

On my first couple of listens: Tomorrow Never Came Heroin God Bless America When The World Was At War We Kept Dancing Get Free 13 Beaches I guess you could say the 2nd half of the album is my favorite. I love the first, though, too. -

First listen thoughts: - 13 Beaches is Lust For Life's Terrence Loves You. - White Mustang reminds me of Britney's Shattered Glass in that it's very short & sort of nothing-y. - Heroin is Lust For Life's The Blackest Day (& will be criminally underrated). - God Bless America - And All The Beautiful Women In It is probably the most BTD-esque song of the album. It's beautiful. - When The World Was at War We Kept Dancing is also beautiful & oddly sexy -- it feels like GBA's sister. - Beautiful People, Beautiful Problems... Why are Lana's vocals recorded in 5 paper bags compared to Stevie's? - Tomorrow Never Came might be my favorite song, it's gorgeous. Ready for her Laurel Canyon album. - Get Free is a gorgeous, mysterious, celebratory, almost psychedelic way of ending the album. Overall, it's a fascinating body of work that only an artist like Lana could release. She's such a singular, unique artist. I can sense a lot of growth & stretching within this album. It's going to take a few listens to sink in, but it's already growing. -

Yep, that's why I never understood why Honeymoon had a red vinyl. Honeymoon made me think of blue much more than red. I guess Lust For Life is deep red, cream, & teal-ish green. -

In the end, everything on the album was Lana's decision. The songs, the sequencing, the narrative, the sound. Accept that, respect that. Stop worrying about hypotheticals & judge the album she chose to make when it's out in full. -
