I just want to say that I don't think @lanasbottomis rude in any capacity, you share your truth and you stick to your guns despite having so called unpopular opinions regarding Lana's music--I very much relate to that. We need more opiniated people like you, not afraid of ruffling some feathers for the sake of having a discussion every now and again. -

Yeah same, Ride is an amazing song and production wise it's one of her best, I find it odd that they just didn't make more of that type of music together.
-
@BlackoutZone is there more Rick Rubin material out there, or did he and Lana recorded Ride at Shangri-La and called it a day? I wonder why they've only ever done one song together, and at an early stage in her career.

Agree to disagree 💀 I just feel like the album's version sounds tinny and overlyhazy in comparison, but it's definitely interesting how two vastly different version of a single song exist.
-
I also want to point out that the album's version sounds a little hollow and less atmospheric than the single version, it's a combination of all the elements you've mentioned. The single version sounds more balanced to me.
-
I feel very validated right now--I too have been ranting about this since 2014. Thank you.

I feel like I'm the only one that makes a fuss about this, but I listened to West Coast like 500 times before she dropped UV, so by the time the album came out, I was able to decipher both versions.
-
I just want to say that the so called pre-UV release mixed version of West Coast, the one that she released the day after performing it at Coachella (now being referred to as the Rob Orton mix or the Single video on YouTube) is far superior to the version that ended up on the album. To this day, I still don't understand why she (or her team) felt like it needed the fine tuning it received, as it already sounded perfect; the vocals were pristine and the drums and guitars were hazy enough as is. I never listen to the album's version of West Coast. I still have the single file I bought on iTunes in April of 2014 and I like to pretend like it's the only official version in existence.
