  1. She wasn't actually on fire
  2. Yeah same, Ride is an amazing song and production wise it's one of her best, I find it odd that they just didn't make more of that type of music together.
  3. @BlackoutZone is there more Rick Rubin material out there, or did he and Lana recorded Ride at Shangri-La and called it a day? I wonder why they've only ever done one song together, and at an early stage in her career.
  4. Agree to disagree 💀 I just feel like the album's version sounds tinny and overlyhazy in comparison, but it's definitely interesting how two vastly different version of a single song exist.
  5. I also want to point out that the album's version sounds a little hollow and less atmospheric than the single version, it's a combination of all the elements you've mentioned. The single version sounds more balanced to me.
  6. I feel very validated right now--I too have been ranting about this since 2014. Thank you.
  7. I feel like I'm the only one that makes a fuss about this, but I listened to West Coast like 500 times before she dropped UV, so by the time the album came out, I was able to decipher both versions.
  8. I just want to say that the so called pre-UV release mixed version of West Coast, the one that she released the day after performing it at Coachella (now being referred to as the Rob Orton mix or the Single video on YouTube) is far superior to the version that ended up on the album. To this day, I still don't understand why she (or her team) felt like it needed the fine tuning it received, as it already sounded perfect; the vocals were pristine and the drums and guitars were hazy enough as is. I never listen to the album's version of West Coast. I still have the single file I bought on iTunes in April of 2014 and I like to pretend like it's the only official version in existence.
  9. My brain the past 24 hours trying to register all this information from 2013-2017:
  10. Is there a Cruel World demo, or Rick version? Or was that a song she made with Blake and Dan without Rick being involved? And also follow up question: did she consider a different opening track at some point? @BlackoutZone
  11. It's so interesting, because up until yesterday I was under the impression that she just made an almost complete Ultraviolence album with Rick, then when she met Dan she just reworked/tweaked the songs, but it's way more complicated and intricate than that. I'm so here for this behind the scenes tea. This album deserves its very own Netflix documentary. Magnum Opus.
  12. Sad Girl is that bottled gold almost one take girlie I knew she were.
  13. There , it's from a Rolling Stone interview back in 2014.
  14. I wanna know what happened before they switched up!!
  15. Does @BlackoutZone has more tea in regards to the studio antics Dan Auerbach and Lana experienced with Interscope/Polydor when they recorded Ultraviolence, before Paul Epworth came in to save the day?
  16. The leaks antics are tiring ngl, I don't think the headache and fabrications are worth it. It's beyond ridiculous at this point.
  17. Leakers making shit up, colour me shocked
  18. If these studios' walls could talk They'd probably say "Oh shit not her singing Lust for Life again."
  19. I just want to know if Lana actually set herself on fire (baby).
  20. Can @BlackoutZone give us some background information about Sad Girl? I'd like to know more about this underrated gem.
  21. This makes me appreciate Ultraviolence even more than I already did.
