This is slaying me so much that I just cannot take it. I love it. It is raw, it is natural as someone stated earlier, it screams this era --- the music we have already received from this era. It speaks to that. I love it so much. My goodness. Work, Lana. You know just what feeds some of your fans.

**Drops**@ the vacant look in her eyes. Sickening! Heroin-addicted casual fish. Work it, Lana, sis.

    Yeeas for those pin curls.

I love this song. It is becoming a favorite of mine. It is such a technically perfect track. Lana has always had good diction and phrasing, and she showcases it to its pinnacle in this song. She better be a hummingbird at the end!

I am not here for upbeat music by Lana. I think she is at her best when the songs are dark and thoughtful. I love these predictions you all are coming to based on Lana's mention of those artists.

What I like about these interviews, or what I like to think of as small snippets into the psyche of Queen Lana, is that they show the obvious growth, the change, she has experienced over the course of her career and her being exposed to media scrutiny. She has matured so much, gotten stronger artistically and mentally, and whereas in times past, where it was a little difficult to understand what she was expressing verbally, I feel that now she is quite clear as to who she is, and that comes across perfectly now. I cannot wait for the new music. It is going to kill all of us dead!

The mood of much of Sia's second album, Colour the Small One, gives a similar vibe to the mood of this particular song. After all, it is the album possesses the iconic "Breathe Me." Many of the songs are quite somber, stirring, and depressing, quite like this one. Even the way Lana's tone comes across here, and the way she purrs some of the lyrics is chillingly Sia-like. I am suprised no one has ever spoken to these similarities before. This is not the first time I have heard a parallel between that era of Sia's discography and Lana's intimate, sullen songs.

    My lawd, have muhcy!

This is what I like to hear from Lana. Am I the only one getting a dark Sia vibe from this? Lana does so well to emote pain through her music. You all must get into the bleakness of her delivery, and the forsakenness of the bridge. Lol! Yeas, Lana. This is such a sad song, and she nailed that aspect of it.

*Goes back and rereads my original post that prompted this response, only to be left unsure as to why the girls are giving soo much to a simple question. Hmmph.*

Thank you for your response. I get why you would like Lana to revisit her interpretation of hip hop.

Clearly, you take things that should not be taken so seriously very seriously. You should calm down and breathe, sis. This was not an issue of common sense. I simply asked a question, which typically occurs during a discussion.

No shade, but girls, especially Me: I Am Mariah, I am not sure why you all are so here for a hip hop tune from Mother Lana. I will admit that the hip hop splashed flavoring of some of BTD give a small amount of life, but not enough to make me crave a new album under that same vein. It does not help, I guess, that I am not a hip hop girl at oils. I could deal with something along the lines of Dark Paradise or Cola, even though Cola is not a BTD tune. It gives an uptempo dance flair that is completely different from anything on UV and seems individual to Lana. I would like another AFFA, JFK...I mean, yes, maybe those songs come across as predictable from Lana, but they also show Lana at her best.

I think her vintage Priscilla Presley hair styles and general golden age glamour is absolutely breathtaking. That being said, her more casual qt """soft grunge""" look gives her this girl next door look which has it's own certain charm. I think Lana can pull off a variety of looks quite well and I actually hope she continues to do so because the way she transcends different styles and eras is quite interesting.

She seems really organised and motivated this time around. This could actually come out when she say it'll be out

Her visuals, as she mentioned in interviews, are parts of her vision that goes hand-in-hand with her music. And visuals here doesn't only means music videos. She seems to have constructed her 'looks' to match the era/album style, that's why she is so sophisticated in BTD/P (and all those Marilyn Monroe similarity) and more laid-back, minimal make-up with UV. If she were just an commercial singer whose image has to be polished and well-looked after with the the record label, then it wouldn't have been liked this (it would have been more consistent and glamorous). It is actually a gift for her since not many artist can (or do) express their vision visually like Lana. There are other artistic legends but Lana is truly one-of-a-kind.

This album is so incredibly DIVERSE and UNIQUE. Nothing like this exists.
This was Lana's sign of pushing musical, lyrical, and artistic boundaries within popular music.

Every single song is a knockout, to be honest. A.K.A. has flawless continuity, yet you can easily differentiate each track.
The lyrics, while not as strong or poetic as Sirens, still paint a beautiful Americana image and nostalgic feelings.

The album is a fusion of so many different genres and influences.
There's indie, pop, rock, folk, and electronica.

She created an image and a name for herself with Lana Del Ray.

One of her best works to date, in my opinion. I prefer it over Born To Die.

    Favorite tracks:
    For K Part 2
    Queen of the Gas Station
    Kill Kill
    Jump
    Raise Me Up

I forgot about blonde as an option. Hmm. I just want something thoughtful and authentic to her.

Judging by her offerings from the Big Eyes soundtrack, I expect excellence from Lana. I want her to continue to grow and explore herself as a woman and artist, and then pour all of that into the new music. I loved Ultraviolence, so I am excited. Hopefully, she will connect with Rick Nowels and some of the other gals who have helped her create, what is to me, her best work.

First of all, the opening summary of this thread is well written and thought out, so thank you for that. I thought Ultraviolence was my favorite release from Lana, but I now believe that this album, as a whole, albeit tracks like Gramma and Mermaid Hotel, that I need to revisit, is my favorite. I cannot believe how great of a work it is, and how it has been overlooked by those outside of the Lana-sphere. The fact that it is still an unknown work to many is confusing.

My favorite songs from the album are Kill Kill and Jump. "Kill, Kill" is the type of song that makes you want to rock your hips and dance in a sultry way.

That darn line, "Palm trees in black and white; last thing I saw before I died"
is iconic because, to me, it somehow embodies the entire dark theme of the album, though it is delivered in an airy, unassumingly light way. What a work, Lana!

HONESTLY the best album she's ever made & one of my favourites of all time. She combines the clever lyricism of the Sirens era with the unique production of latter albums. Despite what she said about her ideas for the album being different to Kahne's, I still believe that this album is absolutely perfect - I can't fault it at all. It's absolutely criminal that it didn't receive a wider release and that the general public know her for Born to Die as opposed to this fabulous record.

Just a week or two ago I started re-visiting AKA and I can say it is her best album so far, imo. So much diversity on that album, none of her albums have offered us.It's a shame she is not re-relasing it or recreating these songs live, especially since she complains about playing the same songs over and over. She should be the last popstar to complain about lack of material. And just these days, here we go, she seems to show interest in her past look and all. So I hope that she slightly goes back to that direction in terms of style, songwriting and sound. Uptempo songs like Raise Me Up or Jump or Queen Of The Gas Station are perfect and suit her so well.

I bet she will finish writing for this album before the tour starts and at this point, I highly doubt she will tour outside of North America. In the rest of the world she had a sales decline between 70-85 % anyway, so finishing this album and make a short tour seems to be the right thing to do.
