i'm sure it's just 'took you back to detroit' (took yeah back to..) as it lines up with the next line anyways, 'back to the promised land'

I'm from Detroit and I'm SOOOO curious as to the reference. When I heard the song I sat up so straight at "Detroit" I wish I knew what she was saying, though. Someone mentioned the delux version saying "to kill back to Detroit" - but that makes NO sense.  It sounds like "to get back to Detroit." But other than when she came here in May, when was she ever here? I've never heard her mention it.  This is a mystery that must be solved!!

I've always assumed it's a critique on modern ideals of wealth and power - an Oscar Wilde-esque approach if I ever saw one, but still.  It's so very very shallow, and she does not come across as a shallow woman at all.  "Before we go out, what's your address" - the lower an address is in wealthy areas, the more wealthy the inhabitants of the home, at least here in Michigan with waterfront property.  It's a classic "I'll only date you if you're rich" line.  And on and on with all of the sacchrine references to diamonds, money, sex, and class.  It's amazing. I love this piece so much!  I know she stated she loved the idea of being a man's  "national anthem," of having that kind of importance in someone's life, but it goes so far beyond that.  It's a scathing critique of society and how people are just into money instead of love.

I personally LOVE it. I think it is my fave. Especially the "because you're young, you're wild, you're free, you're dancing circles around me" part. It gets me every time. And the very beginning of song -the guitar notes that actually open the album- sound so classic and classy...

Not sure but I don't hear "women".

"Guns and Roses" is my new favorite song. The verse melody reminds me of Tori Amos' "Hey Jupiter". Intentional?

Mine is "Get Drunk" and has been from the moment I heard it. It's hardly a matter of opinion. "Get Drunk" simply is her best song.
And I'm not an alcoholic

Ok, so I'm TRYING to find tickets to the Detroit show on the 15th, but so far all of the broker tickets are above my budget.  If they lower the day before, I'll buy two (one for me, one for my mom!).  If not, I guess I won't go unless someone magically has an extra ticket or something. But I'm PLANNING on attending, so let's pretend this is confirmed.  
 
First of all, I've read some things about the live shows that concern me a little. AND I have a question about meeting her.  (I hope I don't sound like an old fuddy duddy writing these things.)
 
1. Loud, aggressive crowd; mostly teen girls
 ~ Now, I'm only 27, but the energy of teenagers is far and above any energy I will ever have again. I've read that the concerts are so loud that you can hardly hear Lana, and that fights have broken out and it's a general mess. 
 
2. Short Set
 ~ Is it true that Lana only sings for about an hour?  If you've seen her, how many songs did she perform?  Does she spend more time onstage or with the front-row fans?  If I had access to floor tickets I wouldn't complain, but in all likelihood I'll be in the balcony or something. Plus, because my mom wants to see her, as well, I want to make sure she enjoys it.  
 
3. Without the Meet & Greet, is there a chance to still meet Lana before or after a show?  I would be at the Masonic Temple, which is HUGE, and I have no idea where she'd be dropped off or anything.  In your experience, does she tend to come out? If so, is it before or after, and how long did you wait?  
 
THANK YOU!  I look forward to reading the replies; I'd love to see her but am wondering if maybe I should just wait until the Ultraviolence tour and hope to get assured tickets and a quieter venue!
