Oh, he's the one that Aurora mentions a lot, yea? Bless Youtube rec sidebar cos I've been listening to another Bergen(dian?) as well, Tellef Raabe https://soundcloud.com/tellefraabe

Was her sighs at the end of Warrior a nod to Tom Tom Club - Challenge of The Love Warriors? I kinda doubt it, so this seeming coincidence is pretty amusing.

Is there somewhere we can hear this radio version? Is this it? https://amazingtunes.com/deccarecords/aurora/tunes/403327 Oh I guess it is. I think I like it. They did the edit themselves, right? It's not Cedric Gervais, for one. Also I am currently browsing this thread looking for the comment of Gone/Home being given to Icarus for remix, I can't find it yet. Was I dreaming reading it? Are y'all part of that fansite Aurora World? btw that fanbook project of yours has ended https://twitter.com/AURORA_source/status/710610875548307456

"The Neon Demon" (Nicolas Winding Refn's latest film)
NEAL replied to DouglasReese's topic in Movies & Television
Anyone can hook me up to a good link? ;p As I do with every movie, I wiki-spoilered myself and yes that plot (I read at wiki) seems to be rather impotent? Rather weak if from a symbolic point of view, even. Of course I have to watch this first to really get my own opinion on the visual vs plot discussion. For me, from what I see so far in trailers, it doesn't really came across as one that has an uber-stunning visuals, but I might edit my opinion once I see it. Again about the plot, it does seems like taking Bad Romance lyrics as a plot could prob be more exciting. Like prob having Jesse turned out to be a calculated, sadistic, vengeful, sabotaging, psychopath kid would be more fun--an overused plot device yes, but could possibly be more entertaining otherwise. Personally, I like Black Swan's dark, muted color tone, whereas this, as @@DouglasReese said, looks/feels like an ott, feature-length pop video--but again, have to watch it myself. Were you referring to the one posted above? *press play and listen* Oh, it reminds me of Bejeweled music, anyone remember that game? But, I mute-play this and play Gods and Monsters in the background, weirdly enjoyed it Guess the epileptic flashes collide well with the drums, and synthpad with the slo-mos Also another possible plot device, the lyrics. ETA: An ontd comment, 'A cannibal cross between Zoolander and Suspiria'. Ha! That what came to mind when I first saw the trailer. -
Ha, I had a momentary lapse thinking that RWTW has no video. How many MV she has out so far? Runaway, HTWA, RWTW, Conqueror, 4? Bergen! Home! Similarly enough to Lana, I think, who has specific theme recurring in her lyrics/song, I found Aurora's recurring theme as 'home'. I am tempted to count how many times she mentions 'home' in lyrics/interviews. There is a theory in YT comment about Awakening, if it's inspired by the novel The Awakening that has the character suicide by drowning. But it also made me think about the movie The Piano where the character attempted drowning-suicide as well, but changed her mind at the last minute, thus 'climb towards the sky'. But anyway @@Sucker is the Bergen show gonna be a guest-list event for you or ticket?

Oh? Didn't know that she has a thread here, nice! ETA: Wow @@Sucker looks like you are own your way of managing an Aurora fanbase. I warmed up to IWTF, but I can't help but initially thinking 'Bah, Lucky, Warrior, RWTW, TTEOAC got snubbed again.' I'm currently in pain, waiting for a studio-version of Home/Gone/Getting Colder. Hope this isn't doublepost, but why didn't you post this here @@Sucker ? Cos good sis dunno what a Melanie and Lana is, almost. It's on 13:57 but the whole interview is pretty cute for everyone out there needing some initiation introduction. And they greeted you ever so warmly at 10:30 "Oh, Robin Larsen, our friend. Hello Robin!" U ~lucky~ bastard!--might as well change that username into @Lucker ps: @@Sucker, make sure you initiate her to Lana, cos she needs to cover MDM. ps2: tell her if she ever buy adopt a cat to have it middlenamed Auroara, lol #tumblrlameland

Lana will be performing at Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation's Annual Gala
NEAL replied to Cashew's topic in Appearances
It's Leo's event, (lyrically altered) Young and Beautiful, duh. She'd symbolically dress as Mother Earth and lament wondering if her children will/can still love her. -
elaborate?

Yay, fellow John Newman listeners! Shouldn't there be a thread of Lana Mentioned Artists? Is there one already? Someone should make Lana's version of the Tribute Tree
-
Was about to post it in this thread but prob. more apt here. John Newman mentions 'Lana Del Rey' in one of the the 2010s (artist he tributes the song to?) at 1:06 It does sounds like he read his music library list in chronological order

So LSD is Lana, soul sisters, and daddies? c what i did thur Father John Misty throughout and.... her literal daddy at 2:22? Let's play Where's Waldo Charlie?

Roofe Wood Grace aka Grace Woodroofe. Putting my helmet from everybody's possible wrath as I think R.W. Grace is a smoothie of (a less reluctant) Hannah Reid + (a less screeching) Florench + (a whisper of) Dido + (yet-to-be-seen-live skills of an) Imogen Heap + (the ectomorphic sinew of a) Taylor Swift. Peace. Agree to disagree. I mean hey, this YT Description said she sounds like Janis Joplin, so... Australian singer/songwriter, Grace Woodroofe talks about her style & music career, which began at age 17 when she woke-up to numerous missed calls from Heath Ledger after he found her music online. The darkness she felt following Ledger's death in 2008 can be felt in her debut album 'Always Want', produced by Ben Harper. While she may appear modest in a girly Tina Kalivas dress with Chloe heels, her compelling, husky Janis Joplin like voice suggest otherwise, as Grace says she feels most like a women when 'howling & growling' on stage. via R.W. Wah, my brain tricked me into thinking that I've commented Serial Killer before, or maybe it was in MermaidMotel? Anyhoo, does it need for the OP to be summoned to edit these kind of abandoned posts or can mods edit them? I'm listening a 4:33 length version, ya know just in case there's other length of the file due to dead air or sth. What I believe is, that even in the song it was always Cola. Never quite heard It's a serial killer. You can see me drinkin' cherry co.. (laaah) Though it sure can be Coke, the live video confirmed (the alt-lyric, if you will) the Cola line. And oh how the backlyric amused me. As the song progresses towards the end, the instrumentation got crowdier and my brain is hearing all sorts of convoluted, ridic lines, one after the other. Such as: 01:11 (If summer ne'er had to happen) Sweet serial killer~ (I guess I'll see you never...) do it for the thrill of it all <--what does he do it for, then? 01:11 (This summer had to happen) <-- A plan? A trip in the summer? 01:11 (December had to happen) <-- What? Mayan apocalypse? That day we met? 01:23 (You said, (you'd) never let'it to happen) 01:23 (He said, ...) 02:46 (If us ne'er had to happen) Sweet serial killer~ (I guess I'll see another (boi)...) .... <--just plain logic lel 02:57 (He sent an'envelope to heaven) Sweet serial killer~ (I guess I'll see you never...) <--- an envelope to heaven, no comment, maybe to reply a postcard. But surprise us, Lana... The moans, the vocalization, the sweeping strings, the low-key menacing strings, the beats... easily made it one of my all time fave ;'))!!

Lana Performs Unreleased Songs at the Endless Summer Tour
NEAL replied to Sitar's topic in Latest News
First of all, let me acknowledge and be grateful that this performance is not another Poolside-gate. Fair enough that it's a show, of a tour, so expectedly people will record, but still... was trying not to hype myself too much when people posted the rehearsal snippets. But it's here, and thank you again, for everyone that record and uploaded the performance, esp. Serial Killer. Somehow listening to it give me this nice, eerie, nostalgic atmosphere of that time when we all first get to know each other and was geekily super excited over anything and everything Lana #mustbethestrings Those times when we have simple arguments over misheard lyrics like this. Lana Del Rey is the second most expensive female performer

ETA: Survey of secondary market now, eh? Or maybe I've been sheltered so much from the dark, shady part of the world. (yay?) Curious on how artists might react to that. Interesting. Q: Your official sales is a flop. But let's hear the illegal download number AND the secondary ticket market, shall we? Are you ready? Are you excited???
