I wasn't sure how to feel about The Pale Emperor. Third Day of A Seven Day Binge took me some time to get into, it was the same with Deep Six. After these two singles, I had low expectations for the album, only looking foreward to Cupid Carries A Gun, because of the Salem preview. However, I have to say, I was suprised by the album in a positive way. Killing Strangers is a good intro of the kind of If I was A Vampyre. Deep Six sounds much better in the context of the album. Third Day of A Seven Day binge ... I think it really grew a lot on me since the release. The Mephistoteles Of Los Angeles is a great track, it has a very cinematic undertone. Definitly one of the halbum's highlights. Warship My Wreck .. hm. It's a good track but way too long. It would be better if it was shorter, at least that#s how i feel about it at the moment. Slave Only Dreams To Be King is my favourite from this record. I love the beat, the way it drops in after the speach-sample at the beginning. I love the melody and the way it changes during the song. The Devil Beneath My Feet is a solid manson song, however, I guess that either way it is not a big stand-out (at least for me) or I will need some more time to get into it. Birds Of Hell Awaiting is the only song I don't really like on this record. I don't know, I just don't like it, neither the sound nor the lyrics appeal to me. But it was like this with The Reflecting God aswell, and now I really love that song. So we'll see .. however, at this point, I think the album would be good without this song aswell. Cupid Carries A Gun. I love it. However, it feels a bit thrown together, but still, the instrumental and the pound me the witch drums parts are gorgeous. Odds Of Even is a typical Manson closer. But a very very good one. I also love the three bonus tracks. Especially the "acoustic" version of Third Day of A Seven Day Binge slays me.

I don't want to hear church songs. I mean, she has referred to religion (Y&B, LO, GM) and this is ok, because she is a religious/spiritual person but i don't want a song about religion itself. Songs like this always end up preachy. -

Religion .. pls not. But I already fear we'll getsomething like this, judging from the cross-necklaces that are all over her last photoshoots. -

Why do so many people here act like their personal tastes are facts? I do enjoy Lana#s live vocals, however sometimes I don't like them (which is often when people say how godly they are ... like during some of the over-done MDM performances) and sometimes I love them. There are singers who do better than her and then there are the ones, where you can argue about how good they are live. Miley for example isn't my cup of tea live, even though I wouldn't say she is bad. Lana is not the live-vocals queen, but she is also not as bad as some people act. And I feel like it's the same with many other artists. I wouldn't agree with Katy being better than Lana for example. -

Born To Die feels so incomplete without the three bonus tracks, and I also don't think Burning Desire interferes with the coherence of Paradise. You could argue with UV. Yeah TOW is a good closer and the 3-track Deluxe version sounds a bit off, ending with FK. But I think it's a question of mis-placement. If ipside would have been bonus track n. 3, it would have felt "closed" again.

Proving my point, I don't build up my self esteem on how good the artists I like sell. You seemingly do and apart from this your disrespect for different tastes just shows again how looooooooow your level is. Pls, when will you ever make your farewells reality? -

Well, if you think your pathetic ATRL sassyness hurts me, you are wrong "girl", since I have no need to bump my on self-esteem on the chart position and sales of another person but the fact how I personally like their music. And apart from this, I don't see how the first part of your "post" is connecting with anything I wrote. -

It's so annoying how you act like you would know nay better than the rest of us. We all can just speculate but so far you have been putting down on all opinions which are not going with what you wish the album will end up. Big suprise: Even if you deny it as hard as Merier keeps failing her lipsyncs, in the end it will be Lana who decides how it sounds. She said it would be more "BTD/Paradise" like but this doesn't neccecarily means there will be hip hop beats. Could aswell mean that there will be less guitar and more strings again, or that there is heavy orchestration or that the whole vibe will be mor eromantic again and less bitter. Whatever, we don't know it, so stop acting as if you would sing on the album yourself. -

Ok, I am no person who NEEDS big music videos and can't live with simple things. Also, I don't agree with many examples of "good glittery videos". Ride for example was cringeworthy in my opinion, National Anthem was a nice video, but I would have preferred a few more story-scenes instead of constant making-out/ family scenes. But i also think that the "around" does a lot of things. If it's glamorous Gangster-Lolita Lana, with pin up curls and gold chains, climbing out of a swimming pool, vintage-beauty queen Lana with Marilyn Monroe dresses and beehives or if it is the dark-psychodelic Lana with simple clothing staged with blurry photo-effects. I love her homemade style of Carmen as much as I love Woodkid's Blue Jeans music video. I love the "expensive cars and palm trees" Lana as much as the "super simple" Lana. But it's all a question on how you do it. The Ultraviolence video was really a big flop. Nothing "deep" and "atmospheric" about it, it's just over-simplyfied and executed very poorly. It builds up something and then destroys the "finally arrived" scene with random scenes of her walking around in the last seconds of the vid. Just random stuff which is supposed to be artsy. I don't think this is"why this era flopped" but I am always sad she never made something out of UV. All of those wonderful NK shots, she never really used in the media. All of these wonderful music video possibilitys. All of these wonderful "obscure" TV/Radio performances she could have done. So in the end, I don't really mind if she charts high or low, as long as I have something to love (apart from the music, obviously). An album si wonderful, but it's very nice for a fan to have good music videos and performances to watch/listen to. Not because of promo, but because it is something which you can satisfy your stan-addiction with. I hope she will do more of this stuff during the Honeymoon era again. She doesn't have to turn "YEAH PUBLICITY!" and stuff, but doing nor much at all is also very boring. And yes, I know she seemingly recorded a lot of stuff while "not doing anything" and it's ok for her to chose if she wants to appear on a show or not, but I just hope she'll be more on the spot for this era, -

Where did she say anything about the artwork? I feel like the article which was referred to here before was most likely only quoting from the Billboard interwiev and they just got something wrong. -

Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
Thunder Revenant replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
In the album version of National Anthem, is Lana actually singing along to "Tell me I'm your National Anthem"? I know she does so in the demo version that is featured on the "God Bless American" compilation and also in the breton Labs Remix of the song, but I am not sure if this is used in the album version. -

Well, I guess that is mainly because it is easier to talk about things like that. Knowing Lana, you can argue about how she may visually perform "Honeymoon" and "Music To Watch Boys To" quite easily. Sound is something, which you can hardly argue about without hearing something, and since Lana's predictions have been ... not the most concrete or reliable ones so far, it's hard to talk about it. Nontheless, alot of people have been talking about sonical aspects here. And the shirt thing ... It's superficial, but i can understand it. If you like the music of an artist, it can be very disappointing if this artist isn't doing anything with it visually, especially if the artist is known for doing this very well. And on a (more general) side note ... Lana NEVER did jazz, anyway. With lots of goodwill, you may call some MDM performances and the SG verses as well as SOC jazz-influenced. And TOW may originally be a jazz song. But still, so far jazz has only been one of her favourite words and maybe one of her main influences for UV. That's it. Neitehr any real "future jazz" nor "classic jazz". So all the talking about how jazz is boring or not is kind of useless. -
