New single: "Doin' Time" (Sublime cover) - OUT NOW
Formation replied to Say Yes to Heaven's topic in New Releases
IT'S OUT ON NZ SPOTIFY -
Now that I've gotten a chance to see (on Youtube, so I'm sure I'll enjoy it more in person) of this tour's set: Her vocals are amazing but everything else feels a bit hollow. I had the same problem with Ariana's latest stage--something about the all white and overall set up feels too empty. Especially when you compare it to the big LEDs of Neon Nature. It looks like a high school production. I have the same opinion about the dancers as I do Lana. I don't hate them, but they don't really add anything more than her band did. Also, the guy is bigger than everybody else, and it throws off the symmetry. More lighting, not just the background projection, would be nice.

Deezer was the first to upload snippets too. Although who posts them first seems to change between eras since I remember UV was a random eastern European store and HM didn't have any posted.

New single: "Doin' Time" (Sublime cover) - OUT NOW

If it is a cover, I can actually see her singing it. I'm sure it'll be a bit slower, but the intro sounds like something Lizzy would sing (replace "Bradley's on the microphone with Ras M.G" with references to Ray or Bill or something and it's just up her melodic alley.) -
I need to see more but she's serving High School production with her stage set up :/
-
Put "Please Don't Call Me should have replaced You" on my gravestone, thanks. Also she served Florence with how close the live version of EM is to the studio.
-
Wait, Soft to Be Strong is kind of hitting the spot. I wasn't expecting this. How she sings "I've known it all aloooong ... the fear is goooone." >>>> Life is Strange, Karma, and STBS are my trinity.

Wow we actually made it ladies. So many chances for songs to leak and we only ever got teases.

In several interviews, I'm sure if you have the time you can find them, she says that she looked back on the songs she was making and saw that they fit Archetypes and the idea came from that. Again, that's not really that different to me than looking at L+F's songs and coming up with pairing them into two groups. She ultimately didn't do much with the archetypes themselves. Had she been able to go through with her ideas, then maybe I would agree. I'm personally not bashing any era or album, as I said I love them all. I'm just trying to be objective about her creative vision. I haven't seen much hate towards the campaign here, but I have seen a lot of it on Popjustice which is why I felt the need to comment on it. Ive said this before but there's definitely similar melodies between several of the songs that make them all connect really nicely. I feel like I've never heard a record do that, be it intentional or not.

I was talking about the album theme/campaign, not the songs. You can 100% believe the songs are not good, but a lot of people's criticisms focus around the Love + Fear idea which is what I'm defending. I really don't see how you can say that nothing about this is consistent? The album clearly does have consistent ideas. The visuals for the singles and the lyric videos have been consistent. It's been the exact same as other eras. Your arguments about the quality of the songs or if you like the them is completely different--again, this is fine but people just need to argue about that instead of acting like she's fallen of the wagon. These snippets have me even more excited than I was before!

Time for another rant I truly have no idea why people are complaining so much about this era's theme. TFJ didn't have one. If you are basing your judgement from EH: the "concept" was basically just the name alone. There was no storyline, and the idea of the Archetypes came just as late in the album process as this albums (in both she looked at the songs she had made and thought "huh I guess this fits with this idea). She also came up with Froot of the month like the month before she released the song. That campaign idea makes even less sense than this. Literally what did any of those froots have to do with the songs? The froots for the singles didn't even match with the scratch and sniff froots for each song. She's never had a 100% thought-out theme for a record. She just makes music and then looks back and realizes she can package it in a certain way. If anything, Love + Fear matches the creative vision of EH. I love the idea for each era, but I also find it annoying that some of you act like she suddenly didn't have an idea for a theme or that she spent the bulk of the last two years centering everything around the Love + Fear idea. Next time she should just put a collection of songs onto SoundCloud, I figure y'all will complain just as much about it.

https://nylon.com/marina-profile-love-fear Can't wait for the next era so the interviews stop being about her name drop. They literally all sound the exact same. Anyway, at least this one has actual song descriptions. Karma and Suckers are probably going to be my faves. Perched

The song is beautiful. She truly is a medieval queen. Hopefully the full thing is released soon. You can find a link on a Twitter and the song is in the credits of the GOT episode--don't know if posting a link would be allowed in this case so I won't. NVM: it's out in full. Review stands. This is a Ceremonials version of Patricia

The gays are actually showing restraint for once We're so close!

This is going to sound lame because it took a pop star to get me in this state of mind but: In my 20th century conflicts class we'll watch some documentaries, and I always found scenes of war sad. Since listening to To Be Human, though, I legit have teared up with every footage of war I see. Marina is truly out here making me feel more empathetic and connected to other humans than ever before. I'm legitimately so grateful for her.

But thank you, next did leak early because of early copies, as did Billie's album. It's really a case by case thing with leaks right now. She could be Florence or she could be Lana--we'll just have to wait and see.

These are from genius by the leaker we all know. Some others were added and removed by an user I don't recognize, so I'll assume they were fake. Too Afraid, STBS, and Karma are still there if you click on the contributors section and see what was added and later removed, if you're interested.

they're both coming from a sense of unity and the idea that love conquers any division, so I get why they're Love songs. However, can someone tell me why Baby is on Love? I guess she justifies it by the bridge and the idea that they can meet again at a better time, but to me the overall vibe is more coming from a place of "I'm scared that I missed out on someone so great."

This is such a bop I need essay-length explanations of why she always scraps gems like this

I'm loving the mini-visuals this era so far, mainly because she looks so stunning. I wonder if the Fear ones will look a bit different. Love the track by track stuff too.
-
It's pretty much confirmed that she did have work done on her face, right? She lied about that a few times. (Not trying to start anything, please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Lately albums have been kept pretty secure. I don't think it'll happen until the week of, Wednesday the earliest. I'm fully expecting to have to wait until it's released in NZ, though.

First, Froot is way more sporadic in terms of themes. The only reason it became a nice package is because she last-minute came up with the theme of Froots. Second, I think people keep forgetting that three years ago she truly thought Froot was her last full length album. It's clear to me that from 2017 and on, she just made a ton of songs with her friends and ended up realizing that she could compile them into mini-albums. Personally, I like the simple idea of Love + Fear. I'm not saying that you have to love the songs or call this her most creative era, but I also don't get much of the criticism centered around this not being a cohesive piece of work. This feels like the most authentic Marina album to me. She clearly wanted to prove something with her first three albums, but this just feels like she's enjoying making music again and not worrying about being a pop star. Sorry for always writing damn essays
