Thanks again for being so nice, everyone!! I'm planning on doing some watercolor Lana stuff soon, which should be interesting if nothing else.
 
I found an older drawing to throw in here while I work on new stuff!! There are things about it that I'm not super happy with, but it was super fun to make. Colored pencils are the best.

Hi there! I'm super new here, and I pretty much only feel like drawing Lana lately, so I figured I'd make this my first Lanaboards post!!

I don't get why Lana keeps trying to invoke these jazz musicians. I'm not a Davis fan, but I've heard some of his stuff and I can't imagine Lana doing anything that sounds remotely like him. Then again, she did say inspired. She could say "I wrote a song inspired by Iron Maiden" and then release a slow UV-like ballad because "I really liked the juxtaposition of like, iron, which is hard, and maidens, which are soft, and like, maybe she's sad because her heart is iron, you know?"

So you know how Lana has said that in a lot of her songs (like West Coast and Video Games, for example) one portion of the song is based on reality and the other is focused around her inner fantasies… well, I think Honeymoon is another one of those songs...
 
The verses seem to be about reality - her experiences with her lover have a slower instrumentation which could symbolise how reality isn't as grand or exciting as her fantasies. The instrumental intensifies into the chorus, where she sings about a 'honeymoon' with her lover, most likely what she envisions within her head, hence the more complex instrumentation. It's quite fitting the 'dark blue' lines are right before the second verse kicks in, as it shows Lana sliding back into the reality that is life with her neglectful lover.
 
The bridge is almost an amalgamation of reality and fantasy - describing realistic qualities of her lover through deep imagery. Lana then slips back into the chorus again for the last time, which has a very dreamy sound, then starts singing the 'dreaming away your life' lines, which to me, indicates that she is finally acknowledging that she is torn between reality and the world inside her head. The scatting towards the end is a symbol of Lana getting lost within her dreams. She attempts to soften the problems she encounters with her lover by escaping to a world of her own inside her mind, where they are both happy and untroubled, however, deep inside of herself she is aware that dreams do not last forever - she is 'dreaming AWAY' her life. Although she knows that her mindset is detrimental, she can't help but turn back to it every time she remembers that things are not as smooth with her boyfriend as she wishes and dreams about. Honeymoon isn't just a song about being hopelessly in love with a bad boy, it's much more than that - it's Lana explaining how she has created a world within her head she can escape to when no other coping mechanism is enabling her to get by.
 
Anyway, that's just a quick explanation of the summary I've come to after having Honeymoon on repeat non-stop since it came out. Please expand on this if you have any of your own ideas

Not really sweetheart. The ppl bringing her up do it because you well know it's the easiest way to shut Lana fans up or clap back to defend Halsey instead of giving solid arguments. But that's not going to end this 'fight' or whatever is happening here because once you shut one up another will appear because this is a Lana Del Rey forum after all and there a far more LDR fans here than Halsey's. Like the samples thing yesterday, someone said Halsey sampled a song and then out of nowhere another person mentions Born to Die. And look, here we are. Did that solve anything? No.
 
Anyway, like I said I prefer to talk about Halsey on here instead of Lana so I'll leave it here.

I cna't be excited for this, because gaga is in it.

I can't imagine her appeareance to NOT just be a stupid "hey, here's the star!"-promo-part and I'm kind of sure she can not portray anyone but herself, so the role she has will be very much "Lady Gaga in a Horror Hotel"

Well i prefer to throw the money to the trash can instead of buying that, but to each their own.

Why do you all feel the need to bring Lana Del Rey as a form to defend Halsey (or X artist, if we weren't talking about her) when you're on a Lana Del Rey forum with Lana Del Rey stans who are probably going to come here with better receipts than yours because this is a forum full with people devoted to praise her and follow her while you are just fans / casual listeners of Halsey? I mean, I do agree the people who come on here just to attack Halsey are not correct but neither the people who respond the same way with Lana Del Rey arguments.

LMAOOO I saw this in a tumblr post of reasons why she's such an amazing artist and I was like... Those lyrics are pathetic. 
And they listed her being bisexual as a reason to like her, how fucking ridiculous, you should like somebody based on their sexuality? Tumblr tries way too hard to put people that aren't straight on a pedestal it's SO strange.
