Every word of "Black Beauty" and "Is This Happiness," mostly because all of those emotions are true to reality (based on my experience).
Also, the sadness is just fucking beautiful. I plan on getting BB quotes tattooed on me for my next birthday.

Let's be real, OTTR is just one big lyrical masterpiece but my favorite line is: Glass room, perfume, cognac, lilac fumes / Says it feels like heaven to him
Also Old Money is becoming one of my favorites, lyrically: The power of youth is on my mind / Sun set, small town, I'm out of time / Will you still love me when I shine from words but not from beauty

I paint the sky black
You said if you could have your way, you’d make it nighttime all the day
So it’d suit the mood of your soul
The sway of the hips and arms
Will cradle you from afar
They swing 'til you're tired and send you to Mars
Night time is almost ours
Cigarettes and robitussin
Will I ever get to heaven?
It's not looking good now
I am my only God
Strangled up in ivy
I’m the garden of Eden Lady Liberty
They say I'm wasting time, they said that I'm no good
Summer of my life, not doing what I should
Call me poison ivy 'cause I'm far from good
But pretty from afar, like a dark star
It’s been so long since someone made me different
Loving you isn’t right
Black leather, moonlight
Loving you isn’t right
It’s original sin
A man who makes a beast out of himself got nothing to lose
Sold my soul long ago with nothing left to choose
I’m tired, tired of singing the blues
Don't fuck with me
You're not a gangsta like I am
GOSPEL, I tell you

Swan Song liked a post in a topic by whitman in VIDEO PREMIERE: Ultraviolence
As I expected the video is all about the aesthetic, for me there isn't really a meaning behind.
I remember when the cover of the album came out and everybody seemed so disappointed because it was not what we expected at all, it was so simple for a title like Ultraviolence. Later I read that Neil Krug interview and I finally understood why the chose that picture as a cover - it was a completely the opposite of what we expected to be. Ironically or not she decided to not release a predictable video for Ultraviolence.
The real issue it that maybe we want her to be predictable, so the problem might be us not really the video. When this supposed to be a bigger project ( because it's a cinematographic, epic love song song) she gave us something personal. Which is good thing because maybe this song, its lyrics it's more personal than we ever imagined.
Also we need to give her some credits for being sensitive enough to not release a video with suggestions of abuse or domestic violence

I know it's been said a thousand times already but I'll say it again... This video is a disappointment at it's finest. Ultraviolence isn't a bad song and she could have done so much more with the video. Although I'm a little biased because I always prefer high production videos over low quality, this video isn't even a good homemade one. Here what I don't like about it: 1) There's literally one scene. One. One outfit, one filter, one location. It's singular and predictable, and in turn, boring as hell. 2) The filter isn't even pretty! I know Lana loves her muted greens, but the whole yellow tone theme is ugly. I thought with Ultraviolence, she'd go with darker, cooler colors like blues, purples, grays... not this pee-colored mess of a color palette. If there would have been a little more of that purple tone seen as she first walks into the church and the lighting changes, maybe it would have been better. 3) There's no story line whatsoever. You can go on with your theories about lost love and marriage and death but in all honesty, I think Lana just wanted to put on a wedding dress, pout, and play with filters. I think it's all about what's aesthetically pleasing to Lana, but even then, I wasn't expecting something so flat. Lana's has such an interesting mind and has spoken before about how she's in really into film so I was expecting something much more advanced in terms of plot and themes. 4) The video doesn't suit the song, at least in my opinion. I know not everything has to be literal but she could have at least saved the wedding dress for something like a Yayo/Gun & Roses (although we all know that's never going to happen.) The only part that was the least bit literal was when he put her hand around her neck in a choking fashion, it was only a glimpse of the "violence love" portrayed in the song.
On a less critical, more positive note, there were some things I did enjoy about the video! 1) The lips are back. I know they look a little awkward in some scenes (see: orange) but overall I love when her lips are plumped up like that. Her makeup looked good in this video, now if only I could actually see it through all those filters... 2) She, in general, looked beautiful. I think it's hard to deny that aspect. Lana's facial expression, for the most part, were convincing and beautiful. 3) Some of the angles were good. In particular I really liked the scene under the wedding veil with the light coming through the lace on to her face. If there were more scenes with interesting angles, the video would have been less boring.
I'm hoping this is just a project Lana wanted to do with Francesco in Italy and that there's another Ultraviolence video directed by Nabil laying around somewhere. One with the smokey black and white rock n' roll theme. Praying for that.

come on, in the born to die era she was in full make up and hair, and every little thing was perfect, and her video's where glam and all. And she got such hate for it.
Yes not from us, we loved it all. But in general she was bashed as manufactured.
So new era, everything low key. I don't know why that's such a bad thing? It's more like her old home style video's. I like the idea.
Must say, the snippet isn't that special for me, but it's only 15 seconds so. I'll just wait for the whole clip.

I agree - there's absolutely no motivation for Lana to (re-)release the two things I'm most keen for - the original Ultraviolence and her first album. If either of them are received well, it will reflect badly on what she's doing now, and if they're received badly, she'll be accused of cashing in on sub-par music.

The sun also rises on those who fail to call

I can do it if you really, really like that
I know what you really want, b-baby
I can do it if you think you like that
You should run, boy, run

Do you think we’ll be in love forever?
Do you think we’ll be in love?
Baby, put on heart-shaped sunglasses
'cause we’re gonna take a ride.
I’m not gonna listen to what the past says,
I been waiting up all night.

I said it somewehere else, don't know exactly where but I'll say it again. I don't think Ultraviolence was about lyrics at all. She already sees herself as a writer, with born to die/paradise she has shown she writes her own stuff and she is good at it.
Ultraviolence is about the music. It needs to reflect a mood, the tempo changes and drowned vocals are important. It is a musical reflection of what's going on in her head. From calm to wilder, from serene to confused. Feeling sure about herself, feeling overwhelmed etc. I think all the repetitions in the choruses are on purpose. It's not about getting the lyrics or singing along, it's about laying back and feel the music.
And with simple lyrics thats much easier than be constantly on top of what she is singing.
I can't wait for an maybe addition to ultraviolence, I think it wil either go further down the pad of feeling instead of listening with even more guitars and stuff. Or she maybe will go back to "clearer" times. And lyrics will be important again for her.
But I honestly don't think there will be ep for ultraviolence. Because she said the album was for her done with the cover of the other woman. And all the bonus songs we have are not important to the story. So new music, but not an addition to UV.
(sorry for my English)

I like it, you're all complaining "Low budget, low budget" Get over yourselves, we're getting a video for Brooklyn Baby and Pretty When You Cry too, so go cry. We'll have more videos. She's in a goddamn wedding dress, people, really. Get over it. Omfg, you're lucky to have 5 (and hopefully more) videos for a record she was unsure about releasing this time last year. Seriously. If she doesn't wanna make a video that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, its her choice to make, not fan-choice.
I, for one, actually like the snippet we got. At least she's working on this record and who knows, we could end up with multiple videos for songs. Has everyone already forgotten last era? Who knows what we'll get for the record.

I just bought the magazine today and wow, what an article. They did paint her as a drama queen, and the usual questioning of her authenticity dominated most of what was researched about her.
Things that I liked:
- Called Francesco a "friend"
- Ultraviolence is a really personal album, and that she made it for her. "I'm not selling the record, I'm signed to a label who's selling the record. I don't need to make any money. I really could care less. But I do care about making music"
- Lana showing the program that she uses to make the homemade vids on her computer with its cracked screen

Swan Song liked a post in a topic by Linethic in Dan Auerbach Speaks About "Ultraviolence" Label Issues
Lana Del Rey's new album, Ultraviolence, qualifies as a radical statement from a pop star in 2014 – it's mostly produced by Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach, who relies on electric guitar and other live instruments, and none of its eleven tracks sound much like a potential radio hit. And as Auerbach reveals in Rolling Stone's new Del Rey cover story, her major labels (Interscope and the U.K.'s Polydor) were initially resistant to the idea of releasing it.
"There was a lot of bullshit I'm not used to," Auerbach tells senior writer Brian Hiatt. "The label says, 'We're not going to give you the budget to extend this session unless we hear something.' And we send them the rough mix and they fucking hate it and they hate the way it's mixed. And it's like, 'Thanks, asshole.'… I think Lana put her foot down. Maybe it's normal for her, but it's not normal for me. Really rubbed me the wrong way. I got really defensive because I thought it was bullshit.
"The story I got told," he continues, "is that they played it for her label person and they said, "We're not putting out this record that you and Dan made unless you meet with the Adele producer. And she said, 'Fine, whatever.' And she was late to the meeting, so while they were waiting, the label guy played what we recorded for the Adele producer and he said, 'This is amazing, I wouldn't do anything to change this.' And here's the kicker: Then all of a sudden, the label guy said, 'Well, yeah, I think it's great, too.'"
Del Rey acknowledges a six-week period this past spring when Ultraviolence was in limbo. "I mean, I think there were people they wanted me to work with," she says. "I don't know who they were. When I said I was ready, they were like, 'Are you sure?'" She laughs. "'Because I feel like you could go further.'"
"I had heard about some back and forth regarding the music," responds Interscope chief John Janick. "But from the moment I met Lana, I've been of the mindset that she has an instinct that is pretty dead on and as an artist, she is fully formed. She knows her vision and her audience, and it's up to us to follow her lead on that."
"On this album, in my opinion, you didn't want her to try to do something," adds Janick's predecessor, Jimmy Iovine. "I felt she hit a bull's-eye. Everybody's saying to me, 'We need a single,' calling me from Europe. I said, 'You don't need anything.' It's a very coherent body of work, and thought any other conversation was a distraction."
In any case, the album debuted at Number One in June, selling 182,000 copies – and Auerbach is now a huge fan of his collaborator. "Every criticism that I'd ever heard about her was proven wrong when I was in the studio with her," he says. "From how great the songs were to how confident she is as a musician to her fucking singing every song live, with a handheld microphone and a seven-piece band. I mean, get the fuck out of here, who does that? Nobody does that, there hasn't been a number one pop record that was recorded like that in forty, fifty years."
