I think you're overestimating Interscope's influence on Lana's music. With a lot of musicians, the labels do have a lot of influence and tend to push their opinion but Lana seems to be pretty good at getting her way with them. She said they didn't like Paradise but she managed to release that, barely any singles, she got them to finance Tropico which probably isn't making them a lot of money (I mean the tickets were free and I doubt too many people are buying songs we already have) and she has never toured the US properly. I actually think it's quite impressive how much power Lana seems to have, she just does whatever she wants and I think she'll do the same with Ultraviolence. And I really wouldn't expect a US tour, I mean it would be cool if she does it and she may surprise everyone but if you expect it you'll just be let down.

those are like the exact same nominations as the golden globes. i really thought lana had a chance since her song was so successful, i was hoping we'd at least see her in a beautiful gown and get new photos

The labels have to submit everything they want to be nominated.

it was listed as Lana Del Ray on iTunes (and the artist name was also Lana Del Ray) but everyone just calls it Lana Del Ray a.k.a. Lizzy Grant.

I looked into the significance of that number a while ago and came across this:
"The number 108 is considered sacred by several Eastern religions, such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, connected yoga and dharma based practices. The individual digits comprising 108; 1, 0, and 8 represent one thing, nothing, and everything (infinity), representing the belief of the ultimate reality of the universe as being (paradoxically) simultaneously one, emptiness, and infinite."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/108_(number)
Could be a possible explanation!

This really isn't one of my favourite Lana songs but I love the ending when she says "you say take it off, take it off", sounds really shocked and the instrumental stops for a bit. And it's even better in the video. She looks really creepy with those white lashes, I don't know what she was thinking but she looks cute in that nightgown. Even though I don't love it I think it's good it's on the album, it's the most ~surf noir~ of all the songs I think.

Child you pulled Elvis out of a post that clearly said I want more Burning Desires...
A studio acoustic album with Elvis revamped would effortlessly blow BTD out of the water though let's face facts

I wrote about "Mermaid Motel" this last semester in my music class. It's a song that delights me on every listen. Basically a lot of the essay was about brilliance in modern pop music--i.e., artists setting themselves apart by using a lot of the melodic and formulaic rules of pop to their advantage, rather than attempting to rebel. (I wrote this in response to my teacher ranting about how much music sucks today lel.) I also stole some of the technical wording from @@Monicker's fangirling. It's a little weirdly isolated so it's missing some context, but here:
