Why was that scarier than this entire season of AHS

The fact that this video's been up for a year and nobody found out until now

I FEEL LIKE I DISCOVERED FUCKING AMERICA

I'm always seeking catharsis and I get this feeling when I watch her videos and listen to her music. Her old homemade videos aesthetic is so cathartic and depicts the old Americana (though I'm not American). I've always got this feeling like missing something I never had or an age I didn't live in, and it's kind of the way she sings about the 50s, 60s and 70s (I also like all this vintage aesthetic). I like the freedom of the open road.     I like this suburban danger, gangsta boys and dark streets. I love the sun and the summertime. It's like I found myself and got my feelings put into songs and videos.
I'm also an indoor person, when it comes to parties, I remember that text Lana gave to the people at Tropico premiere where she says [now] she lives quietly   for real tho.

    How would you describe yourself?

I posted a line from one of her songs the other day on instagram (unrealeased, obvi) and everyone thought I was dark, depressed and on the verge of suicide.. LOL.

    Their responses:

    "Stay strong jess"
    "Stay strong beautiful"
"Love you jess, always stay strong"

IDIOTS. Clearly they do not know ANYTHING relevant in this world.

I want her to record herself sassily saying bitch so I can edit it into Meet Me In the Pale Moonlight and not feel like I want to punch myself in the face when I hear the ~censor gap~

Me: Do you know who Lana Del Rey is?
    Uncultured swine of Pa: Who?
Me: She's a singer, most importantly my wife

I only have 3 mutual friends on FB that like her; 1 of which I introduced to her.

This isn't from the video, this is a pic of Lana telling that guy what the video will be like and thats his reaction tbqh.

    1. Lana was called to a costume party and had nothing to wear.
    2. She put her favorite white party dress, stole her grandmother's knitting tea tablecloth and some flowers in the yard.
    3. Asked her gay best friend to turn the tablecloth towel into a veil.
    4. The party was thrown by Vogue so when Lana saw the oranges she thought "Better eat something since don't fead the models is a thing"
    5. A friend was filming the trajectory until the Church.  Praying is in Vogue these days, so the theme was birth of baby Jesus
    6. Got home quite drunk, passed the video to the laptop and inadvertently gave upload.
    7. Lana is still sleeping and still doesn't know the video is online

From someone who grew up in the film industry, I think it's a hauntingly beautiful work. It's very reminiscent of the videos for 90s indie rock videos or found footage, psychological thriller films. Music videos, unlike feature films, do not require anything beyond an episodic plot and there's a lot going on underneath the surface here and a lot of metaphoric imagery.

I love the final sequence of Lana walking down the aisle alone.

I'm sorry but did we watch the Same video ? She ate an ORANGE, what more do you hungry wolves want ? Geeez...

Haha jk I'm very disapointed, i thought the trailer was good but this is bad. There's a good idea, in it, but she didn't go far enough with it. To begin with she should have filmed at least 2 more sequences to give the MV more flow. What was that horrible close up on her wet mouth while she was "hauntily" eating her orange ?? And it's a detail but I don't like seing that orange plastic thing (from local works I présume) behind her when she steps in the chapel.. The butterflies cameo was good though lol.
The coulors were nice, the shadow effect hiver by her veil, though not groundbreaking, was nice as well, the bouquet has a nice romantic quality, but... How can LANA DEL REY, the Queen of MV give us THAT ? After BTD, BJ, SS, VG, NA, Carmen, Ride, Tropico, even SOC .......... I don't get it.
This only reinforces my longing for BTD/Paradise ...
Oh well, on to the next one !

This vid makes me worried that if I look through my window I'll see Lana gingerly creeping around my garden in a white dress and taking selfies next to my hydrangeas.

It is, though. Read Sasha Geffen's review at Consequence of Sound, she argues it pretty well.

  20. hippocrates liked a post in a topic by LiamViljoen in Lana and Barrie are no longer together
I always thought Lana was a little out if Barrie's league. The new guy is pretty good looking but he probably isn't a great singer. Barrie's music is awesome. Is that song "I see her smiling" an original from him? Will it be on his album?
  21. hippocrates liked a post in a topic by PrettyBaby in Lana covers "Complex" magazine - August/September Issue
Lana's polyamory (if that is the right word... I think she has used the word "polygamy" but that doesn't seem to fit either) has been making me uncomfortable for awhile now -- but also opening my eyes to what it must be like for people who openly defy conventional mores. And frankly, some conventional mores need defying.

I say this as someone who wishes there was more room in our culture for both women and men who wish to pursue celibacy before marriage. I grew up in purity culture; I was raised to see "girls who do" as something Other, and my parents even questioned whether a close female friend of mine was "a good person" upon finding out she was sexually active. I am ashamed to admit I bought into it long enough to wonder how I would relate to my own daughter if she grew up to be someone "believing in sex before marriage."

THIS is cultural insanity. THIS is what is mentally unbalanced: pitting "good girls" against "bad girls," friends against friends, even mothers against daughters. This is what should outrage us: shaming women (regardless of their choices) for being embodied as sexual beings, shaming men (and women) for being attracted to them as sexual beings, and passing on plenty of sexual hang-ups to our daughters AND our sons, whether they are people who "do" or "don't."

The double standard doesn't work for us anymore, if it ever did. And attempting the pseudo-egalitarian solution of slut-shaming men as well as women doesn't cut it either. The world is becoming more complicated (culturally... sexually... ) and maybe that scares some people. But maybe this is an opportunity to find other ways of encouraging each other to be more loving, respectful, honorable human beings instead of resorting to the implication "just be more like me so I can feel better about you as well as myself." Many of us are not buying it anymore, and for that I am grateful. For my daughter's sake, and for the sake of other people's sons and daughters, I am grateful.

LDR is not alone in portraying female sexual empowerment; as others have pointed out, artists like Miley Cyrus are creating space for women to be fully embodied as themselves (for better or worse -- it is possible to see both, and still welcome the greater space). Lana is just more overtly analytical about it. I say we need her voice, even if I personally disagree with hers sometimes. I hope she doesn't suffer remorse for it. I hope she realizes she is on the front lines of something big -- even if she didn't ask for the confrontation, I hope she decides that being true to herself is worth it.
