"Grandfather ..." is a nightmare to say or spell but it's ICONIQUE. I wouldn't change that but that alternative is nice. I'm in love is already West Coast
-
Well the question don't seem to be settled as can be seen on the topic for the lyrics of the song. Plus, It's hard to not hear mine when Lana is singing it.
-
Ah, "mine," say it again "Mind of you with me,". I guess there's no consensus about this one, but that's what I hear. Btw, nice alternatives to these titles.
-
Yeah. I'm pretty sure that it is mind. When one of the performer is correcting, she's definitely saying Mind and when they all continue, they are definitely saying that as well. Lana is mumbling so we don't hear the D at the end and that's probably why the backup singers got it wrong at first (The probably learned by listening and not by reading the correct lyrics).

According the credits on genius, Phoenix Grant is credited as Associated Performer. That person has not been credited before. Is that Chuck's daughter ? Has anyone found her "performance" ?

I love those. My favorite ones are : Matar, matar Paraíso oscuro La otra mujer Luna de miel La última canción Puta americana It makes my imagination go wild trying to imagine songs with those title if Lana's songs didn't exist. Just realised I fogot AKA, Blue Banisters and Ocean Blv. That's corrected now.

There are multiple french translation but I tough I'de do my own take : Lana Del Ray, alias Lizzy Grant Nés pour mourir Paradis Ultraviolence Lune de miel Soif de vivre Putain de Norman Rockwell! Chemtrails au dessus du Country Club Balustrades bleues Saviez-vous qu'il y avait un tunnel en dessous d'Ocean Blvd Some explanations for my choices : Born to Die I would favor "nés pour mourir" from "naître pour mourir" because it comes from the sentence "We were born to die" which I think is a sentence that encapsulate the whole album about doomed relationships. Ultraviolence Ultra and violence both exist in french and have the same meaning than in english. Plus Ultraviolence is most likely a reference to Clockwork Orange. I believe the word was kept as is in the french translations of the movie / book so I see no reason to change it here. Violencextrémiste is fun tough. COCC I believe Country Club is a cultural exception from the US. It seems that it's been imported in France, keeping the english name. There's even a french wikipedia page about Country Clubs. Same for Chemtrails, the concept was imported here with its english name and has it's own wikipedia page. Trainée blanche does work too if you believe that Lana didn't care about the conspiracy theory when choosing this word. She never mentioned it so it's hard to know if it was intentional. I might be wrong on some of those things. What do you french gals and guys think about those choices ?

I'm not a big fan of him and I didn't like his cover of West Coast but I still liked the fact that he made it and made the song his own. The tempo change is still there, just more subtle. I did surprisingly like his cover of Getting Older by Billie Eilish tough.

Thanks for this topic. I love her. Psychobomb was a very good album and I love Be sweet so I'm very curious about the album. I'm starting my listening now. The first song gives me Beirut (the band) vibes

Do you really believe that people chose who they fall in love with ?

I'm so happy they finally got the chance to release it after 10 years of being sabotaged. This is definitely their best work (or maybe on par with Three) and it was a disgrace that they've not been able to share it with the world before. 2022 have definitely been the year of their return and I can't wait to see what they have in store for 2023 with a proper new release. I was really saddened when love in stereo was given to Bananarama but I wasn't really disappointed by it missing on the tracklist because I knew it was no longer theirs to use. Appart from that I think the tracklist was perfect and flowed better than the one that supposedly leaked earlier (see spoiler). If it's true, I think that both songs being missing allowed Metal heart and Beat has gone to be on the regular edition which I think was mandatory because they are the emotional centerpieces of the album. And I agree, the version of Back in the day with the sample is the best and I love the more sophisticated drum beat. They do. I think they released the album using their own money so that the fans could enjoy the work properly. Thank you girls. I truly fell in love with them during the MKS era (even if I've been liking them since Overload), so I'm happy that it's finally out there.

Well I hope there will be an intro to sunset because that song is too good to be so short.
-
We barely hear her. I hope we'll get the dolby atmos stems to properly hear her but even that might not be enough. Hers and Swift background vocals sound like they are intertwined. People have to stop teasing a Lana feature when we don't hear her. That's disappointing but I should know better by now. The song is cute, not outstanding tough. Don't know if it's been mentioned before but Lana has writting credits along with Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff.

The ooOoooOoooOoo vocalisation is so iconic that she texts it in the video. ICONIC. I love that song. Gonna replay it a lot. It is so different from her other work yet soooo her. Everything she touches turns into gold. ooOoooOoooOoo ooOoooOoooOoo

THE IDOL - inspired by Lana/Thoughts about Lana on soundtrack?
saith replied to saith's topic in Lana Thoughts
Didn't know Mike Dean was involved, I didn't recognize him. I think Lana might at least do a song. Would be great if it was produced by Mike and had a bombastic sound which would fit the scandalous nature of the show. BTD 2.0 would work. Yeah, I don't think she would be acting but a Cameo could work. It wouldn't ask for much involvement. -
THE IDOL - inspired by Lana/Thoughts about Lana on soundtrack?
saith posted a topic in Lana Thoughts
Hey you guys, Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye and Sam Levinson are co-creating The Idol, in which the singer will star as a self-help guru who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming popstar played by Lily-Rose Depp. Lily Rose's Character's is supposedly inspired by Britney Spears but I think it's definitely inspired by Lana as well. The weeknd and Lana have always been vocal about Lana being the woman in Abel's work as well as Abel being the man in Lana's work. We all know about the cult leader in Lana's past. She mentions him in songs likes Ultraviolence. What struck me the most was when Abel says "Trust no one" which is something Lana has tattooed on her skin. I don't think it's coincidental. I even wonder if it's something the cult leader told Lana before she got tattooed. Even the Britney inspiration could come from Lana. After all Lana said Britney was an inspiration. I can definitely see some Britney in Lana's Born To Die era Lolita / baby doll / american dream aesthetic. So what you guys think about those connections ? It's been reported that both creators have been meeting Britney Spears (and supposedly even giving her a part in the show). Do you think that Lana is involved in the project or at the least have given approval for the inspiration ? Lana has a close friendship and artistic relationship with Abel and has been approched by Levinson for a song on Euphoria. I don't see her not being involved in this project on some level. I posted this in Lana toughs so we can talk about everything Lana related in the show. Another topic might be created in the proper area to discuss other aspects of the show. -
Yeah I read that before. this is crazy how Lana won her over both as a person and as an artist. I'm not surprised she likes her. Especially after she covered Young and Beautiful. I loved her as a kid. Don't know what she or Evanescence have been up to recently. Kinda unrelated but the Ghost Lana in Barry's Riverside video reminded me of Amy Lee for some strange reasons.

I personally am not a big fan of some of Lana's covers. I would prefer for her to cover someone less capable than she is vocally and make the song better than doing less than the original performer. For exemple I've gotten used to her Nina Simone cover but I think her vocals being compared to Nina's don't do her justice. There is a lot of room for turning Britney's catalogue upside down and making it your own. This exemple is great. There are also a lot of cool covers of Toxic out there. I do agree tough that lyrically, there are not many of Britney's songs that matches the level of Lana's. But then again Break up with your girlfriend isn't singer songwriter material but it worked fine with Lana if only for once as a live rendition. I do believe she said multiple times she loves Britney, hence people anticipating a cover. I personally like to be surprised and discovering a song with Lana covering it like she did with For Free for exemple. I also like it if it fits the narrative of the album. For Free is not a revolution of the song, nor is it a better performance than the original but I believe it was rightly chosen for COCC so that was fine with me.

I like the odd combination in the beginning but in the end I think the clarinets should be as chaotic as the beat becomes to be coherent. I need to hear it more to get used to this direction but I already have tinnitus so don't feel like doing it right now

She literally invented artistic self porn. It's surely gonna become a trend on TikTok if isn't already. The song is immortal.

Isn't Lolita some kind of homage to Toxic. I mean I wouldn't be surprised if there a laptop Demo of that song with Lana singing over the bridge from Toxic Looped. But yeah, I'm wouldn't say complete cover of Britney would be the best idea, but who knows, she can surprise us with the result. Her songs are not worse than Break up with your girlfriend.
