  1. She had way more than one pretty song.
  2. I was lucky enough to see Soundgarden just before Superunknown came out, and I think it was one of the best live vocal performances I've ever heard from a male singer.
  3. Me at the drama in this thread Me at the actual information in this thread
  4. To use one of my favourite phrases, Snapchat is deader than vaudeville.
  5. The photo was taken almost twenty years before she was born! The leg in question belongs to Leigh Taylor Young.
  6. I'm not kidding - the second I saw the thread title, 'Stranger Song' came into my head.
  7. I've always thought this too - I can't see the connection. On the other hand, two good friends of mine are big Lana fans, but aren't part of online discourse. They both only heard Lorde years after knowing the LDR collection back to front, and laughed at me at how much she sounds like she's trying to be Lana, so it's not just because of online LDR fans deciding it's true.
  8. He's extremely annoying and uncharismatic, but at least he likes it Edit: OK, that's hilarious - I didn't even realise he's from a famous but shitty band.
  9. Here's a new (to me) band, from Argentina, Inmortalia. I know nothing at all about them, and because there seems to be almost nothing online about them in English, it looks like my work's cut out for me. Sometimes Youtube recommendations get it right. It mostly sounds like typical goth metal, and then 4 or so minutes into it, it goes into a Deep Purple style keyboard part, presumably to the enjoyment of nobody except me.

    Azealia Banks

Something tells me Australia's not the only country she's going to farewelling after this. The first rule of the music business is, if you make money for people you rely on, you can do what you want. If you lose money for them, you're done. Nobody's going to trust her from here on out, and if they do, they've got no one to blame but themselves when she stiffs them.

    Azealia Banks

Not just that, but you can always say you saw the last show she ever played in Australasia, because no promoter here will touch her with a twenty foot pole after this.

    Bob Dylan

One of the all time greats. I'd love to hear Lana cover this:
  13. Even if you think it, why would you post it?
  14. It looks like Australia's getting a couple of JB-Hi Fi exclusives, which are the alternate cover CD, and the 'dark pink' vinyl. I'm not sure if they will be manufactured here - probably not. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/search?page=1&query=ocean blvd&saleItems=false&toggle[onPromotion]=false
  15. I listened to the song 4 times in the car (sidenote: my cheap Spotify sub runs out tomorrow - talk about good timing!), and I love it, but want to hear it in the context of the album, like Arcadia or White Dress. Excellent lyrics, as everyone has been saying, and the choir at the end is spine-tingling.
  16. Interesting! (And definitely unpopular). Can I ask what made the list?
  17. Wasn't it some self-help video or something like that? Edit: I remembered it wrong. I googled the video code, and it came up with this: https://www.filmstories.co.uk/news/trailer-lands-for-ethan-hawkes-paul-newman-documentary/

    Weyes Blood

New collaboration with John Cale, former Velvet Underground member.
  19. I don't get the negativity around DCMA. The non-Lana part is exactly what you would have expected when you read who/what it was, and at least we got some great singing by LDR, as well as a sexy as hell video appearance. Of course, nothing will top the literally home made Stargirl video, but I know a lot of pop fans discovered Lana through DCMA.
  20. I'm going out to dinner on Friday night with my friend who's a huge Lana fan, but isn't online much, and boy am I happy I didn't bother mentioning this at all.
  21. Rarely have I been able to say RELATABLE QUEEN so honestly.
  22. Well, the song 'Born to Die' starts with the spiritual (in the sense of spiritual music) line 'Feet don't fail me now'. And Off To the Races includes Not even to start with things like 'I Talk To Jesus' and all the cult references in Ultraviolence, as well as the Garden of Eden being the central metaphor of the Tropico movie. She's been on about religion for a long long time.
  23. I wish we could like posts more than once. I can't believe how much modern music fans act like it's 1985, and when a song you hate becomes a hit, you have to either suffer through it or turn off the radio. There is literally nothing easier to ignore today than a hit song. At worst, there will be a twitter trend you have to spent 0.3 seconds scrolling past.
