  1. I would like WHF to be a rock album, kind of like Ultraviolence, but with even more loud, distorted electric guitars. But, the quieter, piano and folk-style sound is okay too.
  2. Listening to those two songs on Saturday Night Live...I like them. No, they're not perfect, but still good. I like L.D.R.'s SNL performance. She should go back to the show again.
  3. The first time I listened to NFR, the only stand out track that I really enjoyed was Venice Bitch. That's a good song. But upon subsequent listenings to the album, I really like Cinnamon Girl too, that's another good song.
  4. Yeah, I don't particularly like that L.D.R. is dating the cop, Sean Larkin. I presume that she was initially drawn to him because of his appearance, not his ideology. But, yeah, they're going to influence eachother. Hopefully she'll influence him more than he influences her, but who knows? I've mentioned else where on this website that I believe White Hot Forever will be Lana's most political album ever. Only time will tell just exactly what political ideas she expresses...
  5. I would like to see L.D.R. create the soundtrack to a Film Noir style movie. Perhaps a detective story filmed in black and white in which Lana Del Rey plays the part of the femme fatale.
  6. This is an interesting question. I have no idea why L.D.R. doesn't tour the Asian nations. Maybe she made the decision not to go because of some reason which hasn't been disclosed to us. Or maybe the decision was made by the people in charge of the logistics for her tours. Maybe in the future Lana Del Rey will do an extensive tour of Asia to the delight of her Asian fans.
  7. Apparently, back in 2011 L.D.R. told The Fader that she likes a book called Forbidden Gates: How Genetics, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Synthetic Biology, Nanotechnology, and Human Enhancement Herald The Dawn Of TechnoDimensional Spiritual Warfare by Tom and Nita Horn. This is what Lana said about it: "An easy way to become familiar with some of the major advances we're making each year. It's 2011, and we should all be aware of exactly how fast technology is developing—from understanding cybernetics, to learning that living organisms are now being created synthetically. In my world, life has always been more than music and art; it's about science and understanding where we come from." https://www.thefader.com/2011/10/21/what-were-reading-lana-del-rey/

    Pink Floyd

I'm not too familiar with Pink Floyd's discography, but I do enjoy a few of their songs. Here's a good one:
  9. This is an intriguing topic. There may be some truth to the hypothesis that the cult L.D.R. was referring to in the Grazia interview was the Atlantic Group. The missdaytona twitter account appears to be legitimately from Lana, but, has she ever publicly acknowledged it I wonder. Hopefully some future authorized biography or documentary will give us the definitive answer regarding this subject.
  10. I seriously doubt that L.D.R. has ever been diagnosed with any psychiatric illness. She did mention during her twitter exchange with A. Banks that she has seen a "therapist", so she probably has seen one, but I don't think that signifies a psychiatric illness. She does seem like a gloomy person who struggles with depression and feeling "blue" from time to time, but, in my opinion, she seems like a very healthy, high functioning individual who gets a lot of work done, which she would not be able to do if she had clinical depression. As far as any possible current substance use on her part...I don't know...she seems like she's sober most of the time...
  11. This is really good, really interesting. Thanks for translating this and sharing it with us.
  12. I always presumed that Lana Del Rey leaned more towards the liberal side of political thought, but lately I don't know. Then there's that Blake quote on her Facebook, "do I contradict myself? I contain multitudes". So, I'm beginning to suspect that in some aspects, she leans more towards the conservative side of political thought. According to her paternal grandfather's obituary in the Lake Placid News, he worked in high-level jobs for several corporations throughout his civilian career, and eventually helped establish a successful venture capitalist firm before retiring. This causes me to rethink Lana's song "Old Money". I wonder if Lana might actually come from a wealthy bloodline, which goes way, way, back. This, presumably, would be the cause of her, as yet un-vocalized or unexpressed, support for the conservatives, because they, as far as I can tell, place more emphasis on giving tax breaks to the wealthy. Or perhaps I'm misinterpreting Lana and being too suspicious. Also, in light of David McGowen's research into the 1960s hippie rock stars and their family connections to military intelligence, I wonder if there's any possibility that Robert England Grant Sr. worked in some capacity for the Office of Naval Intelligence when he was a Naval Aviator during World War II. I should probably stop right here; no more questions, no more suspicions, no more wondering about L.D.R.'s past. Just enjoy the beautiful, lovely, music.......
  13. This seems interesting. Yes, please translate.
  14. If I knew that Lana Del Rey was real; that everything she wrote about was autobiographical, it would not change my opinion of her; I would continue to respect and enjoy her music. Actually, most of the things she writes about seem very plausible to me. It doesn't seem far-fetched to me to believe that she has battled alcoholism, or that she has been an exotic dancer, or that she used or experimented with hard drugs. It all seems very plausible. Has she perhaps embellished? Has she taken creative liberties? Probably; but All artists do that. Otherwise she would merely be a historian, not an artist. And Lana is, an artist. One of the most interesting things that has been left out of the Lana Del Rey "story" is a full account of how she rose to fame. I'll share with you a few hints regarding this subject that I think it would be interesting to explore: In 2017 Ben Mawson and Ed Millet gave an interview in which they touched upon the method by which they helped Lana become successful. They mentioned that from the very beginning they hired an online Public Relations company to help Lana. I think this is a key, and this sort of activity continues, and it's probably true for every other major music industry artist out there. There's nothing particularly shady about hiring a PR firm, all major corporations do it, except that they're notorious for manipulating public perception; that's their job! I think I've probably pulled back the curtain enough for right now. I'll just end by saying that ultimately, L.D.R. became famous because she Has Talent. Without talent, all the PR agencies and managers in the world can't bring an artist success. In my Humble opinion.
  15. You might be right about that, but I would rather uncover the truth and be disappointed, than remain in a state of myopia. That's just me. And besides, L.D.R.'s music and art is beautiful and valuable even without knowing the full back-story of all the songs, which we don't currently have. As time goes on and more research is done about Lana's early years; about her rise to fame; about her closest associates; and even about Lanaboards itself, it's going to be up to each one of us to decide if that information is going to make us Love Lana's art and music more, or if it will ruin things; and maybe, probably, it won't have too much of an effect.
  16. "Political - Party Politics - Sociological sense suggests a certain set of ideals + beliefs adopted or adopted for - Sociological governing everyday living prices, laws, motives calculated. More in emotional sense - reality rather than idealistic (Social Services). Impulsive, irrational, motives unpremeditated, unorganized - Corruption - Music Biz, Government business - Everything. Dual standards, Hypocrisy - Restrictions; Those with no choice - social or intellectual position holds no bright prospects for future. Trapped in corners - solitary. Experimentation - Music, Films, Radio Stations - More control unlikely to happen in near future going by todays political and economic climate. No new emergent forces or policies likely to change, more return to Dark Ages, Dissidents. Sleep through this darkness, in peace as you go, shocked by my presence, strike one final blow." ----- Ian Curtis; a quote from the book So This Is Permanence: Joy Division Lyrics and Notebooks; pages 216 and 217.
  17. I don't think I'll ever stop caring about Lana Del Rey's music, art, and life. For me, one of the things that makes Lana so special is that she's my contemporary. Most of the other artists I like are Dead, and in some cases they've been dead for many years, and because of this it's so easy to gain in-depth knowledge about them because authoritative books have already been written about them. But Lana's alive! Her story is still being written, her life is still unfolding on the stage of history, and her end is yet unknown. And this mystery is part of what makes Lana Del Rey so appealing; as well as her beauty, her voice, and her lyrics, which I always considered to be, in my humble opinion, a mixture of pop and literature.
  18. I would say that I fall into the "want to know everything" category. I don't particularly want to meet L.D.R., but I am interested in her past life before she became a "pop star". I believe that one of the keys to understanding an artist's work is having knowledge about an artist's background and biography. I would also like to know more details about how Lana achieved fame. I think it's incorrect to presume that Lana is some kind of "product" manufactured by the music industry. I believe that's a reductionist view; but I do believe certain key elements of Lana's road to fame have not been fully explained. For example: when Lana Del Rey began to go viral, and after her performance on Saturday Night Live, she got a lot of "bad press" and harsh criticism. But this was actually helpful to Lana because it gave her more publicity. I suspect that all the negative press...may have been more than just good luck. But one thing to keep in mind: lack of accurate information leads to all sorts of theories and speculations, that's why it would be beneficial to have more comprehensive accurate information regarding the topic of Lana's origins, in my humble opinion.
  19. What I'm about to say goes beyond the Lust for Life trailer, but, I think, is still relevant to the topic under discussion. I believe that one of the keys to...interpreting the entire album is the 1969 Beatles album commonly referred to as "the White album". I cannot elaborate at this time, but I think that certain themes, and lyrics in LFL will support this interpretation. Lana is a very retro-type person, and I don't believe that it's far-fetched to...suspect that certain elements from pop culture may have provided Lana with a template for LFL, which may go beyond mere coincidence and could possibly be an expression of what Paul Kammerer called "the Law of Seriality" or what Carl Jung referred to as "Synchronicity".
  20. I am quite certain L.D.R. will Never have her tattoos laser removed.
  21. I think NFR is a good album. Better than Lust for Life. My favorite song is Venice Bitch. I enjoy the epic, trippy, psychedelic quality of the track.
  22. There are so many serious and important questions regarding the mysterious origins of Lana Del Rey that remain unanswered, and may continue to remain unanswered until the definitive L.D.R. biography is written, which may not be for another ten to twenty years, or more.
  23. The first time I heard Yes To Heaven, I interpreted it as Lana merely speaking to her loved one and exhorting him to, I suppose, reciprocate her love. Upon further listenings I instead interpreted the song as Lana being the voice of God, exhorting the listener to say yes to Heaven; exhorting us to say yes to God (the divine feminine, Shekinah, etc.). Yes, I realize this is just symbolic, not literal.
