NOTR is an amazing bop. She could have put it on TFM and Teeth as a bonus track. A crazy clip that could have been inserted between Telephone and Alejandro, success guaranteed. I play this song 10 years later and I love it so much. Unpopular opinions: I think Artpop 2 exists but will never be released. Just like a large part of her existing unreleased. Brooklyn Baby is probably an Artpop song but it didn't come out because it didn't fit the mood of the album. Gaga wants to forget about Artpop, it's obvious, she doesn't want to hear about it anymore. Her whole career and her trajectory were changed after this failure, I'm sure that A star is born and her film career would not have really existed if Artpop would have sold 10M copies. She would have continued to make music. I am not enthusiastic about the fact that she is going into the cinema. She has talent for everything she does, but that's just too much. She does too much. She has become too serious. It's a dream but I just want her to come back to the song and get involved. A beautiful album. Not a generic movie thing. A theatrical Gaga but for a good cause. Anyone know why she doesn't want to talk about Chromatica? There is little information about it. She said she was not well at the time but I don't know if it was due to her physical or mental health.

Opinion a little unpopular concerning Lana's photo but I don't really like it, in fact I find this kind of photo is not cool, nor beautiful. It's just unnecessary and vulgar in a bad way. It's just a porn actress. The kind of photo to send in private to a person to fuck. I don't know what she is trying to prove at the moment, I think she has too much confidence (not a bad thing but be careful) and she knows that everyone is going to approve of what she does no matter what, she tests and it works. In truth I think she and her ego have been hit hard by everything that has been said about her looks in the last year in the industry and trying to prove that she is fuckable for the guys in the industry. like "hey guys, look how hot I am!!"... She is already beautiful and sexy without completely undressing, what is she looking for? I respect the fact that it's her choice, her body, her freedom but she's not in a good vibe at the moment. Let her take a break, her music isn't the best and her childish behavior is starting to weigh. Sending this to supportive fans on the anniversary of a cult record is disrespectful. But that's just my opinion. (Of course this comment will be modified if she releases a reissue)

I have so much history with this record and I'll never forget it because it came out a day before I turned 19, so I associate it a bit with my birthday every time. And it's a record that I've been waiting for months, so much that I was counting the days, it was so long! But when it arrived, it was literally the record I played every day until UV arrived. Paradise worked in her favor too. 2012 was such a great year ! There are artists that you know, no matter what music they are going to release, but you know that they will follow you all your life. Video games was such a trigger. This voice, a deep and obsessive voice. She speaks to you necessarily, I can't say how right she aimed and she said that this album was perfection, she was not mistaken. I think Lana wielded incredible power with this album, I mean she came up with songs of such quality that it felt surreal to me. Our radios were bombarded with EDM music and Lana came up with such music, it was just beautiful, special, intimate. She inspired me to write, paint and do lots of artistic things. Lana has been an icon since her arrival. It's pretty crazy because I will always remember the fact that Lana was not liked. I mean around me when I spoke about this singer the girls told me that it was too dark, that she was not beautiful, too kitsch, even ridiculous. I couldn't understand why no one could feel the emotion and deeper of her songs. So I was a little ashamed to say that I loved her and she remained an artist that I listened to only for myself. She was a catalyst for getting me through some pretty crazy stuff that I wanted when I was younger. This flavor was special, the passion, the sunsets, the desire to love more, her music makes the emotions more intense. It's a film that can be molded endlessly. Every song is iconic. It's a wonderful soundtrack but not only, it's a book of memories. I can remember every place, every smell, every person, every emotion if you tell me about one of her songs. I will never get tired of listening to her and I think the "real" Lana is here. You know Lana hair like Priscilla, gas station pinup, Hollywood glamour, rockers. Lana Del Rey was the expensive and the cheap, it made us so close. Of course, home videos are emblematic. Professional videos gave another side to her aesthetic. She was so huge. So shy too, she was the first artist to have "failed" her lives because of her shyness, so I said to myself "but I can do it too, I can do great things despite my shyness". And then there was the disappointment because I thought she was really poor and then I saw the pictures of her private plane rides with her daddy when she was Lizzy, and that depressed me lol. But I left that aside because her music was exceptional, a diamond. She has become very iconic. It's quite strange that she became so by more standard songs and it's a shame, I also have the impression that the youngest are much more receptive to her music whereas when I was younger, it there was a conscience, a limit not to be crossed. And yeah, 10 years. I can't believe it's been 10 years. For me Born to die came out yesterday and I got a little old, it's painful. But thank you Lana for being here and coming in with such a record, not being afraid to make different music. And I would always think so, it is nice to say that certain artists copy her or are inspired by her, she remains unbeatable and unique. There will never be 2 Lana Del Rey, she will always remain a singer very, very above all these flavorless indie singers just with the BTD/P - UV - HM trilogy.

I've never heard that and this cover is breathtaking! Lana's music at its finest
-
Exactly! Any song from his old repertoire would make a great soundtrack. And the success she's having right now with the worst songs she's ever released is frustrating. The majority of people who don't know Lana will think that she is a singer without nuances. Terrence Love You is amazing . This song kills any ballad she's done lately. This guitar at the beginning... It can do very beautiful things, it's just that the girl decided to do as little as possible and to rely on what she had learned.

I don't think it's unpopular but his latest soundtracks aren't really good. Watercolor eyes will never reach the level of Once upon a dream, which was cold and masterful, Big eyes and the dark and plaintive sound, obviously the masterpiece Young and beautiful which will certainly remain forever its best soundtrack. Even I can fly, which I don't listen to much, is above anything she's done lately. I don't understand the hype, her new sound isn't really good, I feel like she doesn't give a fuck anymore since she knows it will sell only with her name. She captivates me less. It's boring as hell. I dream that she releases a soundtrack for a paranormal or horror film, if a series should come up she deserves to make songs for AHS, strange documentaries... something very dark with magnificent and grandiose instruments . But I guess she's more into all that. She should sing with an organ or something like that. I've said it a hundred times but she really, really needs to get back to heavy guitars, she excels in that genre. It lacks good choruses, the Del Rey universe and the west coast tinged with a Hollywood drama, it misses a lot. If she did all this to become a basic country singer, it would be disappointing to let herself go so far. Another thing, sometimes I'm afraid of his closeness to certain fans. Or I have the impression that she likes it. Obsessive fans, she has many and many more crazy than you think. When I see the number of intrusions in her home, I wonder if she has a safe house... I hope nothing will happen to her because of the trust she has in people.

It's a shame, but the rest of the album is a bit below The Current, it's true. Nevertheless there are really good and cult songs. I wish you to enjoy Bordeline one day Same ! I said to myself "why did he do that"? Too bad.
-
Oh yes it's the same! Like you, the first version is the one I listen to all the time, the other I skip. Big stupidity to have removed it from the album.
-
I would never get tired of Borderline which is for me one of the best bops of the 2010s. Since 2019, I always listen to it on loop per session, as soon as I come across it, I can't stop. Right now it's back, that's why I thought of coming here to say how much I love this song. This title is incredible, it would have deserved legendary success and a clip that would have become cult. I can't sit still when I hear it and I can't believe the world has missed it. This band is absolutely perfect. Music, that's how hits should be these days: long, well-produced with an unstoppable, timeless chorus. Good pop. No repetitive songs cast in streaming with a duration of 2.10 minutes. What talent, you really have to be apart to have such production talent and know how to make such songs.

2021 Lipsters Awards - January 22nd @ 4:30pm ET
sunday afternoon replied to Elle's topic in Contests
I arrive a little late for the contest but congratulations to those who won. I have to say this is the coolest forum ever, most of you are so nice and passionate. Thank you for all the effort you put into the news and the immense work behind each subject to honor Lana and the other artists, and to discover others, I could take whole days for read, it's so interesting. I take great pleasure in coming here, even when things are not going well, and it feels good. Long live everyone and the forum. -
I just saw that she hated them, I take back the fact that she validated them. I had a good laugh, it is sure that these awful paintings would not please anyone anyway. Lana is already her art herself and abstract art is absolutely not suitable for her music. Shit idea

Tired of singing the blues is a masterpiece underrated. I want Lana to be that femme fatale again.
-
I keep coming back to her, even though I said I wouldn't for a while, but the soundtrack drew me to her again and I had to listen to her. Well I'm disappointed. We are very, very far from Paradise or Ultraviolence as some described it. It's lazy as hell, pretty but fucking lazy. She really needs to reconnect urgently with those who made the real Lana, tall, ghostly and timeless. She can no longer stay in this register. So disappointed with the success she has this moment by releasing the worst songs of her career... Listen again to the old soundtracks, how incredible they were, she was a queen. What is happening ? She is getting lost. By releasing too many titles, she no longer takes the time to do things well, girl takes a break if you have no more inspiration. 3 years since Lana hasn't impressed me. It's so fucking generic
-
I don't really agree... Lana lost that vintage iphone thing and these videos became redundant and pretty fake. Arcadia was gone wrong, her worst music video. The other one or she is on the swing is beautiful but there is no work. All of his "low budget" videos have lost that stuff, it's not so natural anymore. Marina gave great professional videos on a low budget, it looks better.
-
Marina has come back to basics and it's nice! ADIAML is one of my favorite albums of this year, it even passed Blue Banisters and Chemtrails for me. I easily classify it next to Froot. The production is perfect, the audio work is clean and of high quality. each song - although there are many ballads - is magical, worked, calm, a comfortable atmosphere with catchy songs. Ballads are not the ones I listen to most often but Marina knows how to do them so well, and this voice that she masters to perfection, impossible to be captivated... And the pop songs are great (ok the lyrics are sometimes a little wobbly but the sound is really good) I'm really happy that she made this album, that she paid attention to every detail, the title of the record is awesome, videos were simple "low budget" and they are beautiful. Great effort in terms of visuals. She was able to get the best out of her and I would like to thank her for that. Very nice album, which would have deserved greater success. A complete and thoughtful era, she clearly understood what was wrong with her old album and did not repeat those mistakes I would like her to upload the entire concert in the desert which was absolutely perfect in every way (and the sound amazing), but I understand that she doesn't as people have paid dearly to see it. exclusively, but I wait, you never know. The deluxe is not exceptional but the songs are also of a high quality, worked and well written (Happy Loner helps me a lot). Sometimes, I find you a little harsh with her, we feel that she has given great things this year, she gives herself completely. I would like Lana to be inspired by it for her next albums.

I'm not very enthusiastic about writing this, but I've been wanting to talk about it for a while. I didn't know where to post this, it might sound weird. Lana is an artist who took me to another dimension, and made me spend hours and hours listening to her music, imagining things, remaking the world, a bit like a traveling companion. She's been with me through the best and the worst, a bit too much. It's complicated but I am thinking of stopping listening to his music, I have the impression that it gives me bad karma. And yet God knows how much I love her and I could never of her. In fact, every time she releases an album, in the following week I have some pretty serious things going on in my life. And when she releases a record since Paradise I know for a fact that I have to prepare myself to deal with difficult things. It's quite personal but I have to tell it. - Born to die is the only one who didn't do anything to me, it was an extraordinary time. - Paradise, 3 days later I lost my biggest friends like that when nothing foreshadowed this, a huge betrayal that I never imagined seeing that we had been talking to each other for years, I had to face this pain. - Ultraviolence came out and I failed my graduate exam a few days later or followed by severe depression. - Honeymoon arrived, 4 days after my mother had a heart attack, I lost my job in the process and I had a (first) illness which took me several months to recover. - Lust for Life came, the next 7 days I learned of the death of my 2 aunts. - Norman Fucking Rockwell is released and 5 later I learn that I have an incurable disease. - Violet her poem book arrives, I learn 3 days after that my cat is seriously ill. - Chemtrails comes out and my beloved cat dies 6 days later. - Blue Banisters came out and my other cat that I loved so much died suddenly. It's weird but I feel like I have to get away from her. It's not her fault, maybe a weird coincidence, but it really makes me think. I'm drawn to her music like a magnet, and she too somewhere. I love her posts, her news, the great community, she is absolutely exciting, I really love her but I don't know if I should keep listening to her. There is a spiritual thing, maybe in the end I don't know anything. I'm quite confused. I don't live very well. Here I put it here, my curiosity will never prevent me from following it I think and it is a problem. I'm going to try to get away from her anyway. I don't know if people here have been through similar things, or I just have bad karma and that doesn't mean anything. Thank you for listening to me.

Honestly, I'm glad she's finally out of this toxic cloud. I love her publications but for some time now everything she publishes made me cringe, and it all broke her aura. I miss the artists who remain in silence because now we know everything and there is no more waiting or excitement. Lana needs to be a mystery and it suits her so well. Her projects disappointed me but the way to learn that she will release such and such a project through musical articles and not a post random would really please me, we are more excited at the idea that we do not know anything. It's a good thing too, I really hope it will serve him musically or nothing was happening. Concentrating on essential things will make her take her time to get things right. Knowing her there are several possibilities: she has always published since she got her networks, so I don't think it came from her. It's probably his new record company that wanted that because it caused a lot of controversy and they don't want to take any risks. Did someone also mention it, a move? But I think she will be back much sooner than we thought and that day will be a buzz guaranteed + a great interest you will see.
-
Thank you and happy to know that I'm not the only one to think that, you have to be lucid sometimes even if you like the artist.

Before 2018 it seems to me that his writing was much better. Even though in LFL she tried wobbly things (Coachella), there was effort. She had a very particular way of writing by placing words, thoughts, maybe several times everywhere, references to many titles but it was good, it made her personality. It was repetitive but fascinating I don't know why, she had her style and we wanted to stick all her songs together and it gave a kind of great unpretentious journey. Her handwriting was lighter, more distinct. Since describing herself as a poet she feels compelled to make big sentences with pretty words but they don't mean much. Arcadia in particular, I do not find that it is well written, the sentences are coarse and the turns of phrase not terrible. I also see where she's going with that but she really needs to lighten her pen and not write songs like she posts on Instagram. But I like WW, and it's the only one that stands out lyrically in ages.

LFL has been criticized and hated but it is the last record where his musical imprint remains. She has major songs from her discographies (White Mustang, Get Free, Heroin, Love, Lust for life, 13 beaches...) and very successful unlike NFR where everything seems generic (except Doin time maybe). I wish I had more clips and the video of Cherry that she teased in the void.
