i'm trying to weigh up if this will be good in my head and honestly this is so 50/50 beyond just what song she's gonna sing. we have no idea if her performance is gonna be a new song or a cover we have no idea how this is gonna be mixed (live lounge teas incoming) we have no idea how she's gonna look because we've have no idea how she would dress for a TV performance in 2020 we have no idea if she's gonna deliver a good vocal performance we have no idea how the public will react, but if the performance isn't good it would just be the absolute cherry on top of all the chaotic year lana stans have had i have a feeling the performance will be underwhelming but passable. but something positive in my mind is the fact that she's actually doing this? like why is she doing this if she hates being recorded? she's not done a TV performance in years and we know she's literally asked festivals in the past not to televise her performances when they otherwise would have. i wonder why she specifically decided right now? maybe its because she can't tour and she does actually want to perform for us, maybe its to promote one of the charity things she's been doing recently...who knows, but i hope she has a trick up her sleeve and that its gonna be something really fun. also, its the first time we'll probably get to see her current full band on a small stage in a high quality recording! i'm kind of excited and i really hope ashley / alex do something fun! for some songs, they actually have some really cute performances - even if its just them lounging with magazines during MTWBT. or maybe they won't even be there and it'll be like her performance of summertime. god know even knows, there are so many variables and we never know what to expect from lana,

ehhh, no, i've just seen enough of the general consensus on game dev twitter that forcing the dev's for a majority of the pandemic to be under extreme crunch of 60-80 hour weeks during a period of history where it would be literally impossible for any of those developers to leave their job if they wanted to isn't something to support. the developers are the people who come out against the companies in the first place, and at times i've witnessed developers literally come out and say "don't support this game, the company doesn't pay us for our overtime / forces us to work extreme overtime. if we're getting to the point in this industry where creatives have to beg people not to buy their art and support their work because of how they've been treated, the industry needs to be reformed. it's sad and people need to be aware of it. this game will make millions anyway, its not like it matters that much in the long run but i'm a firm believer of not supporting things for reasons like this. i do it with makeup, games, music i stream blah blah blah. and if i can educate people i will, but it's everyone's own choice at the end of the day.

and that’s kind of exactly my point, people who consume games won’t care about the ethics of letting companies get away with it, which is a shame. hopefully this becomes a big enough thing that people in the industry take more seriously in the upcoming years and games companies are have their hands forced. also, supporting soundtrack songs is kind of a different ballpark. i don’t think streaming 4AM is gonna affect cd projekt red that much.

i know, i've kind of been on/off following this game for the past five years and i know its going to look substantial and beautiful but was the beautifully rendered trash really worth the amount of unpaid overtime the dev's had to do? that's kind of my thought process. i think for the average gamer they probably don't understand how much crunch can affect a person's life but after making games under deadlines for the past two and a half years now i can't agree with letting companies away with that. there have been times where to meet games targets i've worked between 8-10 hours a day 7 days a week and its really just not a way to live life. it's not uncommon in game crunch for people to literally be living in their workspaces and it's a shame that its an accepted/expected thing in the industry. combine that with cd projekt red being transphobic more than once during the development of this game, i think i'll be watching this series from afar unfortunately. i definitely won't be giving my money to the company but i'll happily admire the work of the hundreds of people that were forced to do mandatory overtime to get this product out. just generally, even, aaa companies need to stop doing this to their employee's.

cyberpunk was originally a roleplaying game from the 90s i believe. i think it was called cyberpunk 2020? they've adapted it to become first-person-shooter-of-the-year material. the game looks beautiful and the artists are talented, that's for sure, but it definitely doesn't look like it has a lot of gameplay depth. i think it'll definitely be fun for people who are like aaa games but as a game developer i just can't support something where the staff have been in crunch for over a year.

Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
electra replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
yeah, i think there was a thing at the time where initially it had been reported that it had made it to #7 but after it was announced they had to actually clarify that it was a mistake and she was actually #51. on the wiki for high by the beach: "However, due to an error in calculation by Nielsen, "High by the Beach" was originally reported to have debuted on the chart at number 7 with 248,000 copies sold. The error was corrected on the issue dated August 29, 2015, and the song was revealed to have debuted and peaked at number 51 on the Hot 100, and number 10 on the Digital Songs chart with 67,000 copies.[47] The song dropped 14 places to number 65 in its second week, and fell to number 97 by its third week." -
