  1. She definitely thought it was ready or near-ready. Then she heard other artists going for country, she listened to Cowboy Carter, etc. and probably thought her record was nowhere near as good - or that she doesn't want to simply follow suit. It's a valid reason to hold off. The issue is: why doesn't she just realize that she's messed up by leading us on with the wrong date, and try to rectify it? Invent a reason for the delay, drop a single, announce the real album date, something... Anything. That is the real issue. That she's led us down the garden path and doesn't seem to give a fu-k. But it's not like she hasn't done this before... Another issue is that we keep falling for every stupid thing she says every time. Clearly, clearly - never believe a release date until it's confirmed by her record company or a pre-order.
  2. It's the 16th most streamed song of her entire discography. It's the highest chart entry for Lana ever on Billboard, at number 4. It's a collab with The Beatles of today's pop music. So many of you come out for this collab with knives, but get a grip. I don't care for Taylor as much as you, but to call this song a flop makes zero sense.
  3. Yass, we want Lana to be a pop girly. So, these collabs with Ariana, Weeknd, Taylor, and Quavo. help. It's only like 5 songs out of 29.
  4. Also perfect! Just replace Without You with White Dress:) And Arcadia with Young and Beautiful! That song has got to be on there.
  5. I have to say this is a pretty fucking perfect Essentials playlist - well done! I would just replace Arcadia with White Dress since the latter is a 10x better song. But I can understand why you would want to have that in instead. I would still add Snow on the Beach, and Angel - perhaps instead of Let the Light in and Hope? But I'll do that in my version:) Thank you!
  6. Sounds like it. Lana strikes me as the type who has many fallouts. I get the sense that she's all about self-worth and takes shit from no one. Even if those people are, like, Quavo and Ariana Grande. I sense that she has a "fuck it" attitude and doesn't really care.
  7. Nice playlist, thanks for sharing. As for Don't Call Me Angel, the bridge is fire, and I just like to feature bops to offset the countless ballads. Without songs like Doin' Time, Off to the Races, Blue Jeans, Don't Call Me Angel and Tough, people might misconstrue her for another Adele, and I don't like that. For me, Lana's bops are the rarest form of her music (there's like 10 of them in 12 years), which is what makes them so special. Also, using her voice for ballads is kind of.... obvious. A bop just flips that on its head, capturing a unique, sexy, sardonic, low, modern vibe that no other pop stars have going on for them. So, I'll never give up the bops in her playlists. Even Don't Call Me Angel.
  8. No, that's called "Deep Cuts," babe. At least on iTunes. "Essentials" is the equivalent of an artist's Biggest Hits playlist.
  9. Aw thanks Had my own pic for a sec. but then realised it's prolly not the best idea... My ideal tracklist would be sth like: 1. Fenway Intro (yas, queen, open with this BOP) 2 .Lasso (brand-new country song as hot as Ride, produced by Rick Ruben) 3. Tough feat. Quavo (suck it, haters) 4. Moody country trip hop feat. the Weeknd (that gets crazier as it goes on with beats by Mike Dean) 5. Country trip hop ballad feat Billie Eilish (produced by Antonoff/Finneas) 6. Prettiest Girl in Country music feat Nikki Lane (produced by Rick Ruben) 7. Big country song ala Wild at Heart but even better (produced by Antonoff and Rick Ruben) 8. Country alt pop bop with Kevin Parker/Tame Impala (produced by Antonoff/Kevin Parker) 9. Country bop (like This Ain't Texas and Dance Till We Die, produced by Antonoff and Ruben together) 10. Gorgeous country ballad feat. Dolly Parton (that blows Beautiful People, Beautiful Problems out of the water) 11. Country trip hop ballad feat. Frank Ocean with spoken word (produced by Frank Ocean and Antonoff) 12.Henry, Come On (stripped back) So, basically, a country/alt pop Lust for Life 2.
  10. Hey guys. So, I'm pretty annoyed by the laziness of Lana's (or Itunes') team when it comes to updating her Essentials playlist. So, I was wondering what y'all would do with it if you were managing it? Here's my LDR playlist to kick things off. Note: there are 29 spots, and these are in no particular order. Also, I didn't include some of my favorite songs like Gods & Monsters or Taco Truck because this is more about Lana's hits/essential tracks, and not what me or you think are her best songs. Feel free to comment/edit or tear it apart 1. Summertime Sadness 2. Summertime Sadness (Cedric Gervais remix, I know you lot hate it but it's the biggest hit of her career) 2. Ride 3. Cola 3. Video Games 4. Summer Bummer feat. ASAP Rocky 5. Norman Fucking Rockwell 6. Radio 7. Did you know that there's a tunnel... 8. Love 9. Snow on the Beach feat. Taylor 10. Born to Die 11 Fuck it, I love you 12. Say Yes to Heaven 13. Young & Beautiful 14. Lust for Life Feat. The Weeknd 15. High by the Beach 16. Shades of Cool 17. Mariner's Apartment Complex 18. Doin' Time 19. Chemtrails Over the Country Club 20. The greatest 21. Ultraviolence 22. Don't Call Me Angel (yes, I know, you hate it, but this was a moderate hit, far more than 13 Beaches that's been sitting on that list for some stupid reason for a year now) 23.A&W 24. Blue Jeans 25.White Dress 26. Tough feat. Quavo 27. West Coast 28. National Anthem 29. Venice Bitch HM: Music to Watch Boys to, Cherry, Brooklyn Baby, Prisoner, etc. But these are just not as "essential" imo, more like fan favorites. Also, I despise Blue Banisters so didn't add any tracks from that album. But it was kinda of a flop anyway, and iTunes only has Blue Banisters as a single for the sake of having one. Thoughts? Your playlist?

  12. the most boring era ever. a full year of NOTHING. the only thing that happened is that she dropped an album title, release month, and a tiny snippet of an acoustic-style ballad. this whole year. and one of those isn't even true.
  13. yesss. jamie xx saved september
  14. Wild at Heart is top 25 ldr songs ever material. And it's better than how to disappear
  15. Second this too. It needed a few more big songs ala Wild at Heart, Chemtrails or White Dress. If it had 13 songs instead of 11, it would've felt like a bigger, stronger record. Especially since there are fillers even in the slight 11-track run. Looking at you, Breaking Up Slowly and For Free. Without these two, there are only 9 tracks really, and that makes it one of Lana's slightest records.
  16. I second this. Not her best album, but definitely one of the most coherent ones. You can play any of those songs and know instantly they belong on the same album. Although Tulsa with its autotune and slight trap vibe sticks out a tad.

  18. A smash in the UK. Lana Del Rey Claims First No. 1 On Multiple Charts With Her Star-Studded Single Del Rey earns her first No. 1 hit on both the Official Physical Singles and Official Vinyl Singles charts this week. While she’s already secured multiple top 10 placements on these lists, this latest debut marks the first time she’s claimed the top spot on either of them. Before this week, Del Rey’s highest placement on both charts was just one step away from No. 1. Her 2023 hit "Say Yes to Heaven" stalled at No. 2 on the two tallies late last year. For Quavo, “Tough” marks his debut on both the Official Physical Singles and Official Vinyl Singles charts. His success on these rankings is partially thanks to Del Rey’s immense popularity, as well as her fanbase’s dedication to purchasing her music on physical formats. https://www.forbes.com/sites/hughmcintyre/2024/09/17/lana-del-rey-claims-first-no-1-on-multiple-charts-with-her-star-studded-single/

  20. Ikr? I need a Frank Ocean collab asap. I think Lana and him would work like a charm. That said, that guy seems to have given up on music all together, so it'll likely never happen. But just imagine a Cinnamon Girl type of collab with Frank Ocean's higher vocals, and Lana's lower. It would slap big time.
  21. Please no Lana x Charli - nobody needs that sound. Leave that for Billie, worked like a charm on Guess. Lana needs to collab with The Weeknd on his new album, and hopefully Billie, Frank Ocean, and Tame Impala (Kevin Parker).
  22. Well, his new collab with Anita is fire next level. https://youtu.be/a5rp9mgL8y4?si=dDXK1r1VAFO9xDsA I reckon this album will be a banger (thought the first single didn't really deliver). Hopefully, we get Lana on one of the tracks.
