Oh for sure. Lana is one of the most consistent artists ever and that's her advantage. Not only she has dropped 11 albums (counting Violet and Paradise) in 14 years, but she's also had 16 songs chart in America, which is more than 1 per year. So while she doesn't have huge songs like Katy Perry, she also has dozens of songs more that get steady streaming. After Lasso, this situation should be even more impressive. Especially when you release that other female artists like Adele have had half the output in the same period. Not to mention that Lana's music feels classic, and Video Games and other songs will still be listened to years down the line in the same way Billie Holiday still is, or Dolly Parton.

Wow. I couldn't disagree with you more. The whole planet was talking about Snow when it came out. Every gay Tom, Dick and Harry. It surged to number 4 - the highest entry for LDR ever. It stayed on Billboard for 8 weeks. The record it was on won a Grammy for Best Album of the Year. The top billed artist is the most popular musician on Earth. There were millions of reshares, reels, memes etc about the collab. It broke the record for a collab on Spotify. What do you even mean by "they're not real hits?" I get that you (obviously) don't like the song, but saying "It's not a real hit" is just bizarre. I assure you plenty of little girls around America and the world have listened to the song on this, the most streamed album of the year (streamed 4.86 billion times in 2023).

I personally get a kick out of it. I love that Tough is charting, and I love hearing her on the radio. But I completely understand that most of you couldn't care less about this. But I think LFL is a better album than NFR just because it charted in America? Fuck no. For me, her art and her more bopp-y stuff can and should go hand in hand. But she's had three hits this decade already (Snow, Tough, Heaven), and I'm beaming.

I wouldn't go so far... She's had thee chart entries this year at spots 4, 33 and 54. But she's had 13 songs chart during the 2010s, including spots 6, 13, 17, and 22. She'd need to score another 11 chart entries this decade to beat her 2010s streak, which I doubt would happen. First, she's getting older and we all know America hates that. (Sorry, .Americans, but you know this is true). Everyone on that chart is in their 20s and 30s. More importantly, she's far more interested in producing dark ballads than any Billboard chart friendly hits. So, her 2010s will always be strongest.

It's been the number one track on my local iTunes for Lana for weeks. It's doing really well. I think people were just hungry for something a bit more upbeat from her. If she added some beats to whatever Lasso's first single is, it would surely made it to the charts too. The same would have happened to A&W if it was Jimmy thorhought. But because it wasn't, it ended up "bubbling under". Really, all you need nowadays to chart is a good melody and a solid beat. But it's more likely, it'll be another ballad ala Chemtrails, BB and OB. Which is fine by me, as long as we get an occasional bop. Tough has fed me for a year.

My god, imagine if Tough is the first Lasso single, and Lana x Billie is the second, and it's a bop, too. That would be Lana coming back with a vengence. And then the third collab with the Weeknd lmao.

Yeah, for sure. But it's definitely representative of the song being a much bigger hit than Ocean Boulevard single (any of the songs on the album), Arcadia (or any songs on BB) and LMLYLAW or Chemtrails (or any tracks on the album), in a given amount of time. It's an even bigger hit than Doin' Time was back in 2019. It's her 6th highest charting song overall after Summertime Sadness, Snow, Y&B, Angel and West Coast. And that's really big. Those songs were massive when they came out. So, I for one, am super happy for Tough. It's given us Lana's 16th hit on the Chart, and an even bigger one than SYTH. It could have flopped easily, but it didn't. Now we just need it to stay there for a few more weeks (at least 3 to overcome Syth, High by the Beach, Prisoner, Love and Doin' Time), so keep streaming!

Quavo said it debuted at 33. just like i said it would - higher than SYTH but not as high as snow or angel. 33 is great, one of lana's highest

It's been 2 weeks. How long before Billboard announces which spot Tough took on the hot 100? Why is this taking so long?

Fantano puts tough in "meh" category, as I suspected. He didn't even like Doin' Time or Born to Die, so this was completely expected. He still kinda likes it though.

Since I feel called out, lemme explain. I'm European. We don't really have guns in our supermarkets let alone our homes. It's absolutely unfathomable and terrifying to me that Americans carry weapons around and can just buy them off the shelf and shoot someone at will, which they so often do, at schools, rallies, restaurants. Which country in the world allows this? Guns as part of their culture and national identity? It's like McDonalds, Statue of Liberty, guns. It will never sink in for me. Does the US WANT to be the most unsafe country in the world? Have Charleston Heston, the gun industry and that god-damn constitution messed it up for good? Gun control will just never happen? So, as someone who just can't understand this... yet another shooting, another presidential(-ish) assassination attempt, by a civilian, in America, and so perfectly timed for the election, it seemed too unreal and reeked of a publicity stunt. Especially with the timing (he's a hero know, inn he). But after reading more about it, realized that it truly was just that unfathomable, bizarre American reality in action. A kid who was shy and bullied in school gets his hands on a gun, goes out and shoots who ever he wants. So, sadly, I stand corrected. Just another day in the US. It's fucked up. Not that my country is perfect, far, far from it. The world is a mess.

I studied theter and worked in a pro theater, and I've never seen anything more staged. The obvious "hero shot" with him raising his fist in the air was a deft touch. I guess someone will buy it? (Not hating on Trump btw, he's lesser of the two evils compared to Biden imo, who is a bonafide war criminal, sending guns to Israel for 7 months straight that killed 38,000 and possibly 10,000 more who are missing, with tens of thousands wounded and misplaced. Still wouldn't vote for either though).

She's not gonna put Zodiac on Lasso if it's just leaked. I don't think it fits the country (or trap) sound. But I am soooo ready for Tough and Mirror on Lasso.

Also, not an ageist in the slightest. (I'm all up for Madonna shaking her booty at 60+. F*ck it.) That being said, I just want to celebrate how much more youthful and prettier Lana looks compared to Katy when they're about the same age. Hope this is okay to point out?

Personally, I would love this. Hearing Billie's album in full without knowing any of the tracks or even hearing a snippet, was a real memorable experience. By comparison, hearing the singles in advance and the album leak of trickling songs ruined the first time of listening to OB. That being said, I don't think Interscope would love that idea. They would want a single or two. Also, if Tough does really well, I can imagine them insisting on it being included, and even the album cover being a bit retro with words like "Includes the hit singles "Tough" featuring Quavo, and x, x singles. Which, honestly, I wouldn't mind. I would love it if this album had Tough and a few more high-profile collabs and singles to give Lana a hit record and push her even higher on most streamed artist. Of course, she'll never top Taylor and Billie but playing it smart and staying in the top 3 most streamed female artists would be a very cunty move.
