This. Too serious and forlorn - especially on Blue Banisters. Thankful for Jimmy Jimmy, Tough, Peppers and some of her other more lighthearted efforts 2 years ago. But legit pining for another Serial Killer, Love, National Anthem, Doin' Time , Brooklyn Baby, Florida Kilos, etc.

That list is pretty spot on! Unless they do Nickel Boys instead. With how much money Inside Out 2 made, I wouldn't be surprised if they push that in BP too. But yeah, The Brutalist and Emelia Perez have the most momentum. Though I'm sure the Academy loves Wicked and Anora a lot as well. As for Demi, I don't know... I feel like the role plays into all of her strengths, and I would have been a lot more impressed if 40% of the screen time hadn't gone to Qually, who oozes charism and sex appeal. I don't think Demi did anything Kidman or Blanchett couldn't have done in their sleep. Kidman in particular would have eaten that role alive and probably won every award in the sun. But I'm glad Demi is finally getting some recognition. I'd leave it at the Globe though. I think even Erivo showed a lot more actual skills than Demi. Kidman I haven't seen yet, but I can tell I'm going to love it more than Demi (plus, she's in every shot of Babygirl). The year is finally shaping up a certain way with clear frontrunners. But I feel like Lead Actress is a complete mess and anything can happen. From Torres to Kidman to Jolie and even Swinton.

"I'm so bored I could die." The most I've been bored in "Lana land" since 2011. The Right Person is Bored, Lana! -
You've done really well! The Brutalist is winning Director, Picture and Actor at the Oscars, it's kinda obvious now that it's the frontrunner. Haven't seen it yet (I'm sure it's great), but I really wanted Wicked to take BP, so a bit sad. I really don't want Demi to win the Oscar. She just wasn't all that.

Can't wait to watch it. For the Golden Globes to choose her over Jolie, Kidman or or Winslet, it says a lot. But don't get too excited - she might go the Anatomy of a Fall route and just be rewarded with a nomination. They do that sometimes with foreign actresses. See Emmanuelle Riva for Amour.

Is she really that good in I'm Still Here? Was hoping Kidman wins the Oscar this year for Babygirl.

Clock it. I wholeheartedly believe BB shoulda been an 8-10 track EP ala Paradise, with only the new songs. But sth tells me her label pushed for more songs during Covid since they were struggling financially. But now that covid is in the review mirror, I'm expecting 13 songs fresh outta the ooven. I also think that she will skip interludes given that she's had them on the last two records and it's not exactly like any of them took off or got rave reviews. Even the spoken Dolly Parton interlude on CC isn't something anyone would ever play on its own. So, here's hoping. 🤞🏻 -
Lana to release new song "Henry, Come On" with Luke Laird - LEAD SINGLE
barttttender replied to Elle's topic in New Releases
Honestly, she announced the album and single on November 25th. That's, like, 40 days ago. She really could just drop it now, while it's still winter and her scarf emoji still makes sense. But I guess this album release is just meant to be excruiciatingly drawn-out. -

I canot wait to see this album on iTunes. I honestly can't believe we'll have the 10th release from Lana in just 5 months (hopefully). BTD, Paradise, UV, HM, LFL, NFR, Chemtrails, BB, OB, and now another full-length album with hopefully all-new songs. How lucky are we? We just need the record to have a hot cover (hopefully, not another monochrome one) and for the album to be inspired. Please no Country Roads or old unreleased songs on it. Please, please, please. -

Hey y'all. Happy new year. Just listening to Angie Stone's "Wish I didn't miss you" at a breakfast place whilst I recover from nye. What I'm manifesting is a song on this album that will have the longevity and appeal of that song. Kinda like what Y&B did for Lana before, or Summertime. -

I agree with this. Based on the title and choice of first single, we are 99% in for an early Lana (Lizzy) throwback, or a Chemtrails experience. I can't imagine any big songs on it, and I can't see any bops coming our way either. This will be a quiet, low-key record. Southern goth, country with some trip hop. -

Agreed. Dropping Henry as the first single could not be more Lana. While everyone's dropping bops left and right, there's our gal, putting down a soft, languid acoustic ballad on the table. -

100%. Imagine the seismic shift in her sound if Finneas or Max Martin produced her record. Or The Weeknd. I personally would love the change. Kevin Parker would be amazing too, although he dropped the ball with Dua Lipa with only a few Kevin Parker production-level songs. -

Not sure I agree with this. Chemtrails was a folk experiment that mostly succeeded. I'd argue that coming out of your comfort zone and making a whole album in a genre you haven't tackled before is evolving. Yes, it's a super quiet, low-key record, but it certainly broadened her horizons and discography. Similarly, Ocean Boulevard showed a new side to her and Jack's partnership with an experiment like A&W and the lush orchestral title track. And let's not forget that OB is one of her most critically acclaimed albums to date. The one thing I will say is that seems to be lacking some optimism and confidence since NFR. Most tracks are piano ballads, they're almost all low key, a lot of them are forlorn, and they don't really have the "Oomph!" of some of her earlier tracks like Ride, West Coast or Young and Beautiful. When you hear a track like "Love", it' almost like a completely different artist - upbeat, positive, poppish, self-assured. Now, it's like "Seasons may change... But we won't change..." Which is another reason why I liked Tough - much to everyone's displeasure. It shows a lighter, more melodic and upbeat side of her. Like, "let's make some pop, damn it." -

. Some of sounds I'd like to see on the new record: I ADORE it when she adds more syllables, letters or words than necessary. So, like "Su-su-su-sumertime Sadness, or "Bar-t-t-tender" or "DownatthemenatthemusicBUSINESSconference". That's literally my favorite thing she does. Can't think of other examples because she does it so rarely. It's like a vocal record scratch, and super unique to her. I also miss her New York accent, like on Blue Jeans. And I miss her baby voice (though I completely understand that's never coming back). But some new persona / vocal inflection we haven't seen yet from her would be great. Like her weird little backup vocals on Get Free, or her head voice on White Dress, or "I went down to Woodside" howl on Dance Till We Die. Hoping for a vocal surprise somewhere in there. We also need a banging bridge like the "You shoulda known better" on The Blackest Day, or the "I'm tired of feeling like I'm f-ing crazy" on Ride. Production wise, the only thing I hope for is a new sound. So, not too similar to folksy Chemtrails since we have that in the can, and no to singer-songwriter piano balladry like on BB, or heavy guitars/rock like on UV. A new genre for her to tackle, be it southern goth or country or something in between. The reason why I'm saying this is because I love how diverse her records are sonically. -
Are you seriously dissing someone's obviously completely subjective breakdown of favorite and least favorite songs? Tell me you're toxic without telling me you're toxic? You do realise I'd probably roll my eyes at yours as well, right? Wtf

Since we're getting close(r) to the new album, this thread deserves a proper resurrection. Still hoping the Fenway intro joins this list come May. Insanely good: 1. Ride 2. Born to Die Great: 3. Norman Fucking Rockwell 4. White Dress Good: 5. Love 6. Cruel World 7. Kill Kill Underwhelming: 8. The Grants 9. Honeymoon No comment: 10. Texbook (for me, this track isn't even B-side worthy, it's so limp and just trudges along until it ends. BB should have opened the record, following her usual 1-2 system, although that would have been only a marginal improvement)

Oh, jeez, have I just ruined the "vibe" then? Lol soz. I'm so NOT Team Delulu lately. I'm lowkey expecting the first single to drop in July next year, and the album in December... of 2026.
