  1. I would argue that Ocean Boulevard is the closest to capturing that cinematic feel of Honeymoon. Proof points: - the lush, cinematic, orchestral production on the title track. - the cinematic orchestral production on the Grants - the Broadway-like melody of Sweet - two interludes that do little more than conjure an image in your head. - the movie reference in the Paris, Texas title - the Noir black and white CN video with a big budget - the trap cinematic production on Taco Truck with a movie reference (Carlito's Way), - the High by the Beach of Ocean Boulevard - a storytelling approach to multiple songs like AW, Paris, Texas, Let the Light in, Peppers, conjuring images in our heads I don't think we've been fed these cinematic vibes (to that extent at least) between Honeymoon and OB.
  2. We also need to stop telling people what to do or say on a public forum.
  3. Love that the Blackest Day won this poll. It's objectively the best cut off the record. Still wish it was on UV though, woulda fit much better.
  4. For sure. She deserved Album of the Year with Norman. And now, when she didn't get it, at least give her best f-ing alternative for OB.
  5. Removing categories from the Telecast (like the Oscars wanted to do last year) is about as disrespectful as it gets. Is she less important because she's alternative?? Just scrap the category all together then, if you don't think it's that important! And at the same time, they lavish the same artist (Taylor) with 23040505 prizes every year, and we have to watch certain artists blab on forever. Remember Billie Ellish sweeping at the Grammy's? It's basically saying "this artist makes a lot of money for the industry, so we'll reword them a million times and hear them speak a million times for the sake of our ratings and popularity. And the rest of the artists? Screw you - no one cares." It's revolting.

    2023 VMAs

Yaaaaaaay! Now for the best part: if she can win video in Alternative at the VMAs, she could win Alternative at the Grammy's. Hopefully, they see the light and submit her in the Alternative category in Ocean Boulevard and she finally gets her dues!

    2023 VMAs

so, they didn't even show the best alternative category??? i guess since they're not making as much money as pop artists, they're not that relevant. it's all about money in america innit
  8. Definitely fans' views will vary on this. Many agree that BB is super disjoined - especially when you consider some songs are new and some are a decade old, and the album goes from almost ambiental music like Blue Banisters to some dub-step nonense like Interlude - The Trio, in a span of a few songs. The myriad different producers doesn't help. For me, even Lust for Life is more cohesive than BB. But to each their own. Respect your opinion.
  9. I think it'd be silly to consider AKA an album when it's not even available for streaming. I do, however, think she considers Violet an album as she called it "Norman's little sister" and referred to it as a "spoken word album". Paradise is an EP so I'm sure she doesn't think of it as a record. So, personally, I always consider her as having 9 albums (like she says on OB cover), with Violet bieing one of them + Paradise and unreleased stuff (AKA). That's for sales and promo only though ( it's merch). No one's gonna buy Violet because of a jacket. It's a strategic/marketing move. But Violet is what she considers an album.
  10. I loved the song when I first heard it. Felt like a Norman Fucking Rockwell outtake that would have fit perfectly on it. But then two things: it's kind of out of place on Ocean Boulevard. The production, the lyrics, the vibe: it doesn't correlate with anything else on the record. Except maybe thematically (family). So, it's not the song I go to when I want to listen to the record. Secondly, it just doesn't have much staying power. It's a great song, but kind of wears out after 5-10 listens. Not sure what it is about it. You're probably the only person in the world who feels this way though. Norman has way better reviews, streams and accolades than any of the successor. Pretty much everyone considers it an American classic. Also, BB a cohesive record? Um, okay
  11. 100 % it ruined Florida Kilos and Tomorrow Never Came, and you can even hear the annoying clicking on Bartender on Nfr (a masterpiece aside from the reverb on Bartender!)

    Song vs. Song

Pretty When You Cry Vs. When the World Was at War, We Just Kept Dancing.
  13. omg imagine an album packed with songs like doin' time, national anthem, radio, high by the beach, music to watch boys to, etc. yes i know antonoff didn't produce any of them lol, but antonoff plus lana's lighter mood = diamond 💎
  14. so, it's Ben's fault then? Just curious how this works.
  15. it's funny - 4 albums in with Jack (counting Violets) and zero hits on Billboard 100 as a solo artist. Meanwhile, an unreleased with Rick drops and it's charting for 3 weeks - longest since High by the Beach. Something's fishy with that. We know he can make hits for Taylor etc. not inplying he's not pulling the weight, they're collabs are fire, but I wonder if lana would have bigger songs if she got back w rick or hayne
  16. I agree with this. Blue Banisters is full of lame lyrics though. "He said I was bad, let me show you how bad girls do 'Cause no one does it better He said I was bad, let me show you how bad girls do 'Cause no one does it better They said I was bad, and I'll show them what bad girls do" Really, Lana? "Beautiful, beautiful Beautiful like you Beautiful, beautiful Beautiful like you Beautiful, beautiful Beautiful like you Beautiful, beautiful Beautiful like you" Yawn Or the bunch of mundane images on the title track? "Jenny jumped into the pool, she was swimmin' with Nikki Lane" 'Jenny was smokin' by the pool, we were writin' with Nikki Lane' 'Tex and Mex are in the Bay Chucky's makin' birthday cake Chickens runnin' barefeet, there's a baby on the way'
  17. Actually, it's White Mustang (2 mins, 44 secs). Cherry is 3 min. Doin' Time is close at 3:22. Personally, I wouldn't mind a shorter record with about 12 3-min songs, as long as they're upbeat. Lana doing 3 min ballads is never gonna be in the cards, White Mustang is an anomaly in her discography,.
  18. That's how i felt about Blue Banisters. Thought she winged the whole record. But OB - minus a few tracks that could have been cut - was a welcome return to form. Songs like Ocean Boulevard will only appreciate with time, and age like fine wine. serial killer, hollywood, ridin', driving in the cars with boys, red ridin' hood, etc etc. basically, lana unreleased is a whole other artist in itself that could end in another 10 records. And we havent even heard everything she's got she's a tour de forcr
  19. One more because I'm living for these beats.
  20. I would love it if Lana cooked up something edgy/politically charged for LDR10 with a dope beat. Anyone else seen this girl and though she could be Lana's and Billie's love child?
  21. Always liked this song, but the reverb on her voice is annoying af.
  22. stand behind it. It's the first (and only time) I thought Lana's singing was just bad. Soz
