Nicki’s husband being a rapist is a well known fact that’s been discussed for years now lol. She def knows and probably doesn’t care, just like a lot of other people in the industry. It’s not a niche internet thing like a celebrity maybe having old problematic tweets, she married (and had a child with, and harassed the victim of) a convicted sex offender

Jon Hopkins confirmed too! And so happy about that one, glad she's keeping to her electronic roots and not just filling it with pop stars

Okay so SWEAT Chicago was fucking LIT and I'm going to gush and y'all gonna deal.
Shygirl starting off RIGHT and early with Thicc sent me to the moon because a) it's one of my fave songs by her and b) I had tickets to see her but I had to miss, so her opening for the show was the mini-concert I needed. My friends who were there and who had never heard of her were like "this bitch was GREAT wtf?? she got the crowd energized and set the stage perfectly." I was SO happy with her set/song choices. I do wish she'd have come down the stage/ramp and into the pit area more though, or that production would have let her (I could see them telling her not to/keeping the area cleared for Troye/Charli).
I have to take back a lot of my nonchalant disregard for Troye - I found his performance really entertaining and his energy was honestly great the whole night. He came in, he did a good job of hyping the crowd, he worked the stage, I thought the song order/setlist flowed really well throughout most of the concert, and it felt like most of the crowd was really into it. The choreo/background dancers didn't really detract from anything - I really liked it/him overall.
And as for Queen Charlotte....
Holy shit. I am so glad I wore some hearing protection, because when that banner went up in preparation for her to take the stage, the fucking crowd went NUTS. The screaming from the curtain drop HAD to have registered on an earthquake meter somewhere, because good lord was that a sonic boom from the arena.
The crowd was inSANELY hyped, the WHOLE TIME she was on. The energy in the room was just insane to me. Everyone was jumping, everyone was dancing. Hearing people poo-poo on "I Love It" being in the setlist - idk theydies, the whole area was fucking thrashing when it was on from where I was standing.
Absolutely transcendental.
My only regret, to be openly honest, was that I gimped my own experience. I had my phone out like 80% of the time, and I was so focused on "not missing it" with the camera, that I ended up missing SO MUCH of the overall experience because I had one eye on the phone screen instead of both eyes on the stage. I left with self-induced fomo over it. Going forward, I'm going to be more conscious of it and NOT wanting to record/photograph everything when I go to concerts. So, so, so many people in the pit had their phones up just as much as I did as well, and I wonder if anyone else left feeling like I did too. I understand better the artists who ban phones at their concerts now; there really is something magical about being truly and fully 'present' in the moment. That being said - I did manage to get some (imo) really good photos. I'll probably post a few once I get done processing them.
Actually my second regret is that I fucking ran to piss because I couldn't hold it anymore and while the urinal was sucking it all down I hear what I assume was Spring Breakers. I wanted to slit my wrists right there but oh well....
I was front row next to the pit. I didn't get pit/GA because at the time I thought I was going to take my boyfriend with me when I bought the tickets, and he's not a fan of squished in crowds and needs some "dedicated" space. But after I locked in my tickets I ended up switching things up and taking a friend of mine instead. Friend is a HUGE Troye Sivan fan, and since my friend had just gotten his clean bill of health for beating cancer just a few months ago, I wanted to give him my second ticket as a "congrats on beating cancer!" gift. My friends who moved to Chicago a few months ago housed us, so I told him all he needed to do was secure the plane tickets there and everything else is covered - concert, place to stay, even the food (Jesus Christ I melted a credit card on the food and restaurants and bars while I was there....)
When I led him to our seats he fucking lost it - I forgot to tell him we weren't up in the nosebleeds with our friends - I thought he was going to piss himself from excitement/shock. Had the timing of things gone differently and I knew I wanted to bring him from the jump, my ass would've picked pit and lined up hours early, no cap.

if i can speak my truth about the remixes - the first 3 gagged tf out of me. it felt like the choice of collaborators was soooo perfect to each song and the remixes really elevated them to another level.
guess w/ billie… i mean - i get it. it did really well for exposure, streaming, etc. i know they go way back and charlene has supported her since the beginning but…. it felt sooooo dull and lame. billies verse is corny and didnt really add anything to the song, ms girl needs to drop the whisper act and SING bc i know she can…..
talk talk…. i’ve listened twice…. it might be bc im not a troye fan at allllll. but also - i dont mind the song being completely turned around and changed (see von dutch remix) but i felt like the remix took away this cutesy angsty feel when u have a crush on someone and i dont think troye could match that energy on the song. him being on a remix was inevitable bc of sweat (which i also take my issues w charlene shouldnt have to share that stage!!!) but it still bugs me as talk talk was also a fav of mine.
the last two just seemed to me to serve more of means to an end purpose rather than actually elevating the song. which is fine dont get me wrong im not trying to come for charlegend, i think marketing wise they were very clever moves and im all here for successli.
that being said - i hope the remix album is more in the vein of the first 3 remixes.
ok thats it bye

My Forever is about Tzef and it's on the album atp it doesn't seem to really matter if a song is about her or not.
Sunscreen is coming and idk why there is so much arguing instead of celebrating like-

Kinda sick of people not understanding what mixing is. Benny has always been a mixing engineer on SOPHIE'S music (alongside SOPHIE herself), and in fact it's extremely uncommon for artists to mix their own work. To be honest, most people wouldn't be able to tell a mixed from an unmixed song at first glance (unless the original was EXTREMELY poorly mixed).
I think we need to trust that SOPHIE's closest collaborator and family member knows better than we do about her wishes and how she wanted the songs to sound. We didn't know her, we were not in the studio with her, and I think it's both disrespectful and unfair to create this odd and unrealistic narrative that Benny is somehow tinkering with SOPHIE's music in a way she would not have wanted for seemingly no reason at all.

These last two single releases completely reinvigorated my hype in the album! I was really starting to dial my expectations down and get ready for the disappointment of that Genius ‘tracklist’ being real lmao

Her rise to fame has been so crazy (and very well deserved). I remember thinking back in september when her album dropped that she was gonna gain like Rina Sawayama level fame but it really went way beyond that. Haven’t been this excited for a celebrity in a while tbh, everything she does has been so intentional and thought out, which I feel like we haven’t seen in a pop girl in a long while.
